And whereabouts do you live because it makes a difference if you're on Shetland compared to central London. My hall is 14.6 and my living room 16.1. Bedroom 15 The heating isn't on. North West England. Thank goodness the sun is out today because yesterday was so cold wet and windy.

About -40°c because I accidentally smashed the patio doors carrying something through them this morning on it’s all open plan. At this point I’m wondering if it’s worth setting the settee on fire.

GreenWhiteViolet · 01/10/2022 11:26

17 degrees here in London, and I'm warm with a thick jumper on. Haven't had the heating on yet. I don't mind the cold too much, so I'm planning not to put it on until it's below 15 (the trade-off - I don't cope well with too much heat, so parts of this summer were horrible!)

zighead · 01/10/2022 11:27

It's currently 16c in the hallway so probably slightly warmer in the other rooms.
I'm in the north west and had the heating on for half an hour/ one hour a day since Monday. Feels slightly warmer today as the sun is out.

NiqueNique · 01/10/2022 11:28

Further North than South, IYSWIM.

Our kitchen was 12 degrees this morning, our bathroom was 13. We’ve turned the heating on the past couple of days but only for long enough to make it fairly comfortable. Afternoons/evenings have been just fine without it.

We don’t like a baking hot house anyway, so for now we’re aiming to just take the edge off. The weather’s been grim and wet with lots of humidity which makes a big difference in an old house like ours.

Expectnothing · 01/10/2022 11:28

My house is 21c

I put the heating on for 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins before bed

I'll also put it on if needed throughout the day if it's really chilly

Choconuttolata · 01/10/2022 11:34

Midlands, 70's build with good updated insulation and double glazing.

Temp outside 15-16, sunny. Inside 20.5 which remains fairly constant overnight, lowest it has dropped was 19 a few nights ago.

No heating on, did put wood burner on last night for a few hours.

Onlyhereforchaletschool · 01/10/2022 11:36

My hall is 16.7 right now. North West England. No heat on.

mamabear715 · 01/10/2022 11:39

@Wheresmymoneytree Omg, am so sorry but it did make me laugh! I hope you're currently organising repairs..

19.1 in my living room (North) sunshine doesn't appear until the afternoon in this room, so dressing gown popped round shoulders while I'm just sitting browsing MN..

FastFood · 01/10/2022 11:40

London, a flat in a victorian terrace, 19.5 in the south facing living room, 18 in the north facing bedrooms.
No need for heating yet.

Lightningrain · 01/10/2022 11:42

18.5 in the house in the north west of England in a 90’s built house. We haven’t got the actual heating on yet but the electric towel rails in the bathrooms are on and that seems to heat the surrounding areas.

We had our external doors and windows replaced and quadrupled the amount of loft insulation last winter and it’s definitely made a difference.

PolicecarOnAToe · 01/10/2022 11:46

We’re in the Southwest. No heating on (not had it on at all yet). Downstairs is 20.5, upstairs 21.

witheringrowan · 01/10/2022 11:50

Not on, hasn't been on since April. Basement flat in London, outside it's 17C, we've got the windows open and no plan to turn heating on. However, I did grow up in a draughty house where the only heat source was an Aga that frequently ran out of oil, so I've probably developed a higher than usual tolerance to cooler indoor temperatures!

MintyGreenDreams · 01/10/2022 11:59

No heating and back door open here.S Yorks.

witchyw · 01/10/2022 12:01

Southern England
21 degrees
Heating off

Logoplanter · 01/10/2022 12:05

15.6⁰ in our hall where our thermostat is. 15.9⁰ in the living room where I am and 17⁰ in our bedroom. North East, no heating on so far today, although we have had it on this week. I'm comfortably warm.

I'd recommend a dehumidifier over a heated airer I think. We have both and the dehumidifier removes the excess moisture from the house whilst also drying the washing so double win.

BorgQueen · 01/10/2022 12:07

19.5 in the living room, 16 outside.
No heating has been on. It was warmer earlier due to the sun being out, which warms the conservatory right up so we just open the door to the rest of the house, it makes a huge difference.

FreezyFreezy · 01/10/2022 12:19

I don't know the outside temperature here in west Yorkshire but in the house it is 18.1°C. Our heating is not set to click on until it falls to 15 or below. This is not new for us; we always use as little as we can get away with.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/10/2022 12:21

West Yorkshire. 16.5 in house. Heating comes on if it goes below 16. DD and I are under blankets and snuggled up. Got a hot drink. It's not bad tbh especially since DD doesn't feel cold ever. I'm always cold. Horizontal rain on and off here.

orangeisthenewpuce · 01/10/2022 12:32

North of England. Temperature of the house is 18. Back door wide open to air the utility and kitchen. We haven't had the heating on yet

NorthernSoul55 · 01/10/2022 12:37

Yorkshire. 19.6 in the living room, 17.5 in the hall (because upstairs windows are open). CH not on yet but fire on a couple of evenings recently.

SkirridHill · 01/10/2022 12:39

Wales. 15 degrees here according to my weather app. No heating on. I've got storage heaters so am really trying to avoid putting them on until it really starts to bite. Wearing base layers I bought in the summer sales, have sent DD out to spend the day in Nanna's considerably warmer house.

ThatsGoingToHurt · 01/10/2022 12:48

Had the heating on for 40 mins this morning as it was 18.5 in the living room and colder elsewhere (don’t have any more thermostats!) Turned it off when it go to 20c. I’m in the SW and it’s windy outside and I can feel the draughts coming though the windows. Going to put some washing on to dry outside. Send my meter reading for yesterday so I’m hoping I should be about £200 in credit going into winter.

BMW6 · 01/10/2022 12:51

Hampshire coast. 20 degrees in South facing lounge, probably 18 or 19 in the back rooms.

Put heating on at 6.30am for an hour as dog got me up needing the garden and it was chilly then.

As we're in a terrace I'm hoping neighbours either side will crack and put their heating on before we need to 🙂

Bumblebeefriend · 01/10/2022 12:52

Cool in the house but nice and cosy in the greenhouse

What is the temperature of your house and is your heating on?
DashboardConfessional · 01/10/2022 12:52

21.6, and no. South West England.
