And whereabouts do you live because it makes a difference if you're on Shetland compared to central London. My hall is 14.6 and my living room 16.1. Bedroom 15 The heating isn't on. North West England. Thank goodness the sun is out today because yesterday was so cold wet and windy.

  1. Fan on and doors open. Will put AC on for a few minutes before bed.
SweetyGreen · 01/10/2022 10:05

Oh, Asia.

containsnuts · 01/10/2022 10:07

Scotland by the hills. Windy and raining. Had the heating on this morning to a toasty 21°c, not because I felt cold, rather I'm trying desperately to get yesterday's laundry dry! Still got uniforms to wash and dry for Monday. Wish I had money and space for a tumble drier.

Pourmeanotherwine · 01/10/2022 10:07

South West. Put it on for the first time yesterday. Temperature was 18.5 which felt a bit too cold so boosted it to 20.

Iwannerbeyourslave · 01/10/2022 10:08

It's 19 degrees in my house. Thermostat set at 19 and heating comes on when needed (off overnight). I just set my hive schedule and leave it to do it's thing. Set at 21 last year so 19 will lead to a saving. Teenager tells me it's too cold...as she sits there in her skimpy shorts and crop top 🙄

meow1989 · 01/10/2022 10:08

Home counties. 18.1 in house - heating set to come on at 18.

I have just put the boost on for half hour as ds 4 is in short pj's and said his feet are cold 🙄

Cassillero · 01/10/2022 10:08

Yorkshire

It was 16.5 degrees when I got up this morning and I felt cold, despite thermal PJs, dressing gown and sheepskin slippers, so I increased thermostat to 19 degrees and it's pleasant now.

Peak District.
26.3
Heating on last night but turned off this morning

Do you mean your thermostat was set to 26c overnight or have I misunderstood? Shock

lobsterkiller · 01/10/2022 10:10

Yorkshire, 15c in the living room. No heating yet, other heat sources. It's quite mild outside today and ive updtairs windows open to freshen things up. Will have the log burner on tonight though.

I'm moving about doing the chores and flopping under a heated throw in between.

SherwoodForest · 01/10/2022 10:14

I'm in the south east and have the heating on morning and evening. It's 18 in the sunny side and 17 in the north facing side. Yesterday I was very cold during the day when just sitting, despite vest, jumper and 2 cardigans.
I'll be using savings to pay the bill and cutting down on other things.

MangoKugel · 01/10/2022 10:14

My heating hasn't been on yet this year. It's 18.5 today which is just right for me, but did get down to 17 a couple of days ago. I'm in Hertfordshire.

Givenuptotally · 01/10/2022 10:17

North west coast. Currenly 16 in the house. Heating not on. I want to go with it off until the boiler is serviced - that is due on the 17th so 17 more days minimum. This is our normal practise becuase even before price hikes, I couldn't afford to have the heating on longer than absolutely necessary. We don't generally get freezing weather here on the coast and I have my fingers crossed for an average winter, rather than a particularly cold one, but who knows. It's not easy, that's for sure.

No.

Thermostat was set to 20. Fuck knows what's going on.

It's 26.2 now. Heating went off at 7.

South coast, 18.5 degrees. No heating yet. Googling heated clothes airers this am....

Same here! Are you going to get one? At the moment we use the hallway and it's becoming ridiculous!

Just not sure how effective the heated ones are?

Twotwotwotwo · 01/10/2022 10:24

South East. 23 degrees and got window open to stop it overheating.

I live in a house optimised for winter solar gain. As long as the is sun is out we won’t need the heating. There were 3 grey weeks in December were all we needed last year. I expect the heat recovery on the mvhr will go on at first week of November and the off at end of Jan.

specialk9 · 01/10/2022 10:26

North Essex. Outside temp is 15

Baby monitor on top floor says 20

Middle floor and bottom floor say 18

No heating on yet.

mountainsunsets · 01/10/2022 10:27

18.1 degrees. We're in Cumbria and the heating hasn't been on since about March.

Throwawaytoday · 01/10/2022 10:27

In London, drafty Victorian house.

It's currently 20' in bedrooms, living room and family bathroom.

The heating came on for a burst at about 9am.

Thermostat is set for 16' over night and week days daytime, and 20' weekends and all evenings.

I usually turn it down when it hits 20. To maintain at 18.

I try to remember to turn it off when we go out, but sometimes forget.

MyneighbourisTotoro · 01/10/2022 10:30

17.5 degrees. We don’t have heating at the moment as waiting on an oil delivery but it’s also not cold enough, we all layer up and use blankets if it does get chilly but we also spent 6 years in a freezing cold cottage so we are used to be cold!

KangFang · 01/10/2022 10:30

It's fuckin' boiling here.
About 36 degrees and it feels like there are 19 bakeries downstairs with 100 ovens on the go.
But I'm not in the UK.
Can't wait for cooler weather.

MyneighbourisTotoro · 01/10/2022 10:30

Oops forgot to say we are in the south west

TwoBlueFish · 01/10/2022 10:32

North west, 1930’s house. Right now my living room is 18 degrees. My heating thermostat is set at 17 degrees so heating will come on if it goes below that. It’s been on in the morning for about half an hour three times this week and for about an hour yesterday evening.

Ifulikepinacoladas · 01/10/2022 10:32

LivingMyBestLie · 01/10/2022 10:18

Yes I'm definitely getting one, just no idea which one! Have gone down a rabbit hole of comparing wattage and drying time and cost arrgh... I think I might get the Dunelm small towel rail type one and see how we get on!

WombatChocolate · 01/10/2022 10:34

18 degrees here and very cosy in my dressing gown still. No heating on yet. South East.

Not intending to put heating on until Nov. That is case every year, not just this one.

I noticed it was down to 16 degrees one evening last week. Felt slightly chilly so I put a cardigan on and was fine.

I remain surprised at how many people have the heating on overnight. Surely once you’re in bed you’re cosy and don’t need it.

AliceinSlumberland · 01/10/2022 10:34

We had our heating off this week while we were on holiday and came home yesterday and it was 14c, it felt really cold to walk into, I put the heating on last night. Heatings been on this morning and it’s 19c now which feels nice. We don’t have any other source of heat eg a fire, so feel a bit less guilty having read this thread and seeing our house does seem to drop a bit colder without the heating than some others.

North west of England.
