To think faces look better without foundation?

I get covering acne, scarring, rosacea and things like that especially for confidence...but I think most women look far better without any foundation, which usually looks nice when first applied and then looks like a cloying mask...especially when the makeup is heavy.

You've clearly never met me as I look way better with my face on, rough as toast without it.

Jumpking · 01/10/2022 13:18

Haven't worn it for years

My boyfriend hates when I wear foundation and thinks I look odd, so I mostly don’t

well as along as boyfriend is happy.

NutellaEllaElla · 01/10/2022 13:24

YANBU, for me at least. I'm 36 and Foundation makes me look older. Tinted moisturiser is just about ok but generally I don't bother with make up. I don't know how much that'll change as I age.

3WildOnes · 01/10/2022 13:30

I don't wear heavy makeup and I don't think most people can tell I am wearing much if any at all.
Whenever I don't wear makeup people ask if I am OK and say I look pale, ill or tired. So I think I will keep wearing it!

Cuppasoupmonster · 01/10/2022 13:30

Mine doesn’t. Huge pores, yuck.

Pengwinn · 01/10/2022 13:38

Cripes I look loads better with make up on, I still often don't bother but make up that's the right shade and formulation invariably looks better than bare skin on most people- not that I think that means people should always wear it! It does make me laugh though when people (mainly men) say they prefer natural/no make up and then point out people who absolutely most definitely have make up on and probably spent ages trying to make it appear natural.

Fifthtimelucky · 01/10/2022 13:45

I agree with you, OP. I'm in my 60s and have never worn foundation. I have also never worn lipstick. I did buy some tinted moisturiser and coloured lip gloss to wear on my wedding day, but I never wore them after that. I have always worn eye make up though.

Objectively, I'm sure I would look better and younger with foundation, especially now I'm older and my skin tone is much less even. But I wouldn't look like me.

I don't think I'm that unusual. I can't think of anyone my age who wears foundation during the day (though some do for a night out).

You’d benefit from learning how to chose the correct product and apply it properly.

Mummadeze · 01/10/2022 13:49

My face looks healthier and younger with foundation. YABU.

I know right?!

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/10/2022 15:26

DuckBilledFattypus · 01/10/2022 12:55

Not do I care 🤣 seriously. If you want to cake your face in foundation for any reason you want to then go ahead.

@DuckBilledFattypus

what are you on about?! 🤣
I don’t “cake” my face anything

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/10/2022 15:28

It’s verrrrry apparent that’s there’s quite a few people on here who have NO IDEA how to choose and apply foundation

I know this because of their talk about how all foundation looks “caked on”, orange, “like a mask”, feels uncomfortable on the skin, heavy, etc etc

get some makeup lessons gals!!

AirFryerNinja · 01/10/2022 15:34

LuckySantangelo35 · 01/10/2022 09:28

@AirFryerNinja

well yeah
but foundation is not mud is it

It might as well be.
Then the women using it complain about bad skin. Hardly surprising when you're suffocating it with crap.

Alternatively, if most people can't or don't have time to learn the painstaking art of applying make up without it making you look older, maybe the answer is to just... not?

er, that's not how skin works. it can't be 'suffocated' by foundation.

@NutellaEllaElla

fine it’s not that hard but if you can’t do it then don’t then say such judgey shite about foundation and the women who do choose to wear it

I don't care what you do to your face. Put a paper bag over it if you want. Stop telling me about your face and what you put on it. Weirdo.

Your face makes sod all difference to my life.

AirFryerNinja · 01/10/2022 15:52

You know when you're trying to hide spots and stuff with foundation. It fails. We can still see your spots and stuff, but now they look twice as bad.
Stop caking your face in crap and pretending it makes you feel better about yourself.
Pore clogging crap.

I don't see any evidence here that AirFryer is angry, little, or even a lady. Nasty case of deeply rooted misogyny you have there though. You need to work on that. Do better.

stop telling fibs. she's clearly very cross about something.
