To think faces look better without foundation?

I get covering acne, scarring, rosacea and things like that especially for confidence...but I think most women look far better without any foundation, which usually looks nice when first applied and then looks like a cloying mask...especially when the makeup is heavy.

But it doesn't matter what you think. Those that wear it do so because it makes them feel and look better and gives them more confidence. So if that is what they need then that is fine.

stop telling fibs. she's clearly very cross about something.

Telling fibs? 🤨 What a strange thing to say. 🤪

Obviously it's fine.

I don't care what you do to your face. Put a paper bag over it if you want. Stop telling me about your face and what you put on it. Weirdo.

Your face makes sod all difference to my life.

At least you've stopped talking about your face. Well done. 😄 😉 🤡

I’m lucky enough to have pretty good skin (paid for it with years of greasy spotty teenage skin first!) and my skin looks best with just a good tinted moisturiser. If I wear that, I get tonnes of compliments on how good my skin looks and people obviously don’t realise I’m wearing anything.

I’ve never personally found a foundation that can top that for my skin, they all seem too heavy for me. The last time I wore foundation was my wedding day and even then, with good quality makeup and a professional application, I still have to say I think my skin looked better without it. It seemed to accentuate some of my creases and lines on my face somehow. It did look good in photos though and stayed put all day so I guess that was the point of it really.

I used to care about this but now all I care about is covering up my rosacea so I slather the stuff on.

Thank you! Right back at you 😀 🤡

This is hilarious. Such angry responses over something so entirely individual. Don’t want to wear it, don’t. Like it, then do. Simples. Although I agree with the pp who said about application - all of you talking about suffocating orange crap being caked on clearly have nooooo idea how to purchase or apply foundation, so until you have the skills and the knowledge then perhaps the judgement needs to stop.

I think mine does. I'm very pale. Or maybe I haven't found the right foundation (I've tried a lot) So just stick to a bit concealer, light blush/highlighter as it just clogs my pores up, and I end with with loads of blemishes. That's just my personal preference though on my face. Not really something I've looked closely at with others, unless I'm specifically watching a make up tutorial

bippityboppity87 · 01/10/2022 21:41

There's a lady on TikTok actually, can't for the life of me remember her name, but she does really good make up tutorials for people who have red, acne prone skin, rosacea etc, and does it really well. Obviously you can tell she has make up on, I don't think that's the point of her videos. But to show skin is supposed to have texture. Not perfect, but it's really well done. I'm in awe of people with skills like that. I'm far too lazy 😂 and would be too scared to wear anything white

Interesting thread. I have got to the stage, post lockdown where I can't remember how to put on foundation properly and I find the shades are either too pale or too dark, even if they're one shade after another.. I would like to be able to apply it but for day to day I'm quite happy with concealer where needed and some bronzer for a glow. I love eye makeup but unfortunately sensitive eyes plays havoc with that. Lots of reasons why people do and don't wear it. I have three different types in my cabinet at mo but they're mostly untouched. Years ago I worked Elizabeth Arden compact and Double wear...which probably was caked but I liked it at the time.
