Jack Monroe off Twitter

The latest in the ongoing saga is that JM has left Twitter after being 'hounded off'. The incident that seemed to provoke this...someone critiquing a photo of her mums roast potatoes. It just gets more and more bizarre.

To be clear, I don't like to see public pile ons and some of the abuse directed at Jack has been unpleasant. But a lot has also been reasonable, polite requests for information regarding her patreon which have largely been totally ignored. And her supporters have to be some of the most cruel people on Twitter. It seems like it's fine for JM to voice her opinion but as soon as others do the same they are called out for bullying. And ironically subjected to vile comments from her followers. Go figure.

Am I the only one who thinks she's probably best having a little Twitter break? But eventually if she's ever to redeem her reputation she needs to show some transparency regarding public donations.

She regularly flounces off Twitter, it's actually quite amusing at this point.

The roast potatoes looked....OK. Not amazing, but certainly not 'dire'.

I'm always in two minds about her. I believe that she has a lot of issues, alcoholism/mental health and can appear very fragile but also that she seems to manipulate vulnerable people herself into giving her money by pleading poverty. Things don't quite add up with her.

If you want to obsessively bitch about someone surely Tattle is a better place for it? I would probably find her annoying too which is why i avoid places like Twitter where she has free reign to do it.

Thanks! They’re now how I would choose to have my roast potatoes but if she likes them fine. However who would post a photo of roast potatoes and not expect a lot of opinions! Tea, toast and roast potatoes are very decisive on social media!

Serious question, honestly what is wrong with those roasties? I’m not asking to defend JM but because I’m worried my potato bar is too low. I would be really proud to have produced potatoes like that. Are my standards poor?

Jack has conned hundreds if not thousands of people out of money, many of whom I assume follow her because they have no money and want to see how they can survive like she did.

I don’t hate many people, but JM is one of them. I understand her struggles with adhd and autism, but her outright lying that actually causes suffering to others is not on.

Probably for the best she's off, ignoring the various money stuff that's covered in the molly blog. Just from a twitter pov, she often creates pile ons, disses other Chefs and bloggers recipes, ideas, accuses them of stealing her ideas in some cases and then does a delete. One random person calls the roast potato's dire and she starts a twitter drama with them and sulks off. You can't constantly be starting dramas, deleting posts and then having a proper strop at one person's post you searched out, so probably best to stay off or hand over twitter to a publicist or whatever.

I agree with this. On twitter her posts and the responses make me cringe as she's so contrived and people are so gullible. She's a huge attention seeker. At the same time, it's clear she has huge issues. I find it hard to have sympathy because she creates and feeds the drama.

Wouldn't be my first choice of what Id like a Yorkshire to look like. I prefer then darker and crispier.

I am indifferent about the roasties tbh, not the best not the worst. But those Yorkshire puddings 😱 So pale and flat.
