To say it OK to pee in the shower?

GingerNutMe · 25/09/2022 10:13

So the question is, is it OK to pee whilst in the shower - proviso being you ensure you have washed everything away properly. The topic of conversation came up relating way back to one of the Big Brother series where someone admitted to regularly peeing in the shower.

One logic was 'well most families share one sponge/flannel/fluffy to wash their faces as well as all their bottoms and winky bits' ..........

Who on earth shares a flannel or sponge?!
That's horrific! 😂

CakeMonster1 · 25/09/2022 10:36

Definitely pee in the shower, even if I went for one before I got in the shower chances are I would automatically need one whilst in there anyway, so why not?. Definitely not in a communal one though 😂
I pee in the sea too.
Nothing wrong with it. İf you're hydrated enough it's fine.

There's a quote for scuba divers:

'Theres two types of divers, one pissed in his wetsuit, the other one lies about not pissing in his wetsuit'

People share a flannel/sponge?! I can't believe that's true!

Someone will be along soon to say if you have sex with a person you shouldn’t be worrying about using their towels or their toothbrush or whatever.

mumof2many1943 · 25/09/2022 10:36

Years ago we were told by a paediatrician that urine is sterile as he tipped a sample down the ward sink😲

Cheeselog · 25/09/2022 10:36

I have very low standards but peeing in the shower is gross and so is sharing a sponge. We save water by doing the ‘if it’s yellow let it mellow’ thing but at least the pee is contained where it belongs.

CakeMonster1 · 25/09/2022 10:37

Sharing a flannel or sponge though 🤢 no that's rank

FredaFox · 25/09/2022 10:38

Ahh my response didn't work 🙈
But like others, who on earth shares sponges or flannels? That's way worse that having a pre in the shower
While I don't do it, urine would be washed away by litres of water from the shower. It's not that big a deal

ManateeFair · 25/09/2022 10:39

It’s fine in your own shower. I wouldn’t do it in someone else’s or in shared accommodation.

I don’t share sponges and flannels, though.

Mabelstearooms · 25/09/2022 10:40

I don't understand the hysteria with peeing in the shower. It's just wee! You're own wee! There's nothing gross about your own sterile urine. That immediately gets washed down the plug!

It's also ok to pick out your hair from the plug hole because the wee has been washed off already!

Funkyslippers · 25/09/2022 10:40

If I need to pee in the shower I'm certainly not going to get out to do it! All that water running usually makes me want to go even more any way. And it's a good way to completely empty your bladder, and all gets washed away with the soapy water in a matter of seconds anyway

It is...until it leaves your body.

Sparklingbrook · 25/09/2022 10:41

Time for some more input from the OP I think…

RandomMusings7 · 25/09/2022 10:21

Unreasonable. Just don't. You haven't got 2 seconds to spare to get to the actual toilet? Lazy and gross

This!!

I did it only once as my then DD6 admitted to doing it, so I tried it out. I felt gross and would never do it again.

Urine is not sterile. That’s a myth.

Washed towels? Sharing washed towels is normal and not really sharing. Using someone elses unwashed towel is gross.

Surely once its been used once it becomes "unwashed" though? 🤔

PollyPeePants · 25/09/2022 11:01

No
No need
Just why?
Yuck

Isitsixoclockalready · 25/09/2022 11:02

Why do people need to pee in the shower?

Allthingsbrightandbeautifulx · 25/09/2022 11:05

Sharing flannels, sponges, body puffs is a big no no 😖 I also don’t use the same flannels for face as winky bits as you put it 😂
White flannels are for face only in my house.

Dagnabit · 25/09/2022 11:06

Peeing fine. Sharing sponges and flannels not fine!

Hugasauras · 25/09/2022 11:07

Just here to register my horror at 'winky bits'.

As you were.

jetadore · 25/09/2022 11:09

Peeing is ok. Sharing flannels is surely not ok. But “winky bits”? Just say genitals, you’re an adult ffs!

LumpyandBumps · 25/09/2022 11:14

I was never in the habit of doing it regularly anyway, but then I read an article about the association between hearing running water and the urge to urinate, and I avoid it now.

dotty636 · 25/09/2022 11:16

No it just makes the shower harder to
Clean just pure in the toilet

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 25/09/2022 11:16

Yes, peeing in the shower is fine, if it's just the family using the shower. It's only urine, and gets washed away. I would only do it at home though, not if I was staying in someone's house. I would hate to think of a guest peeing in my shower. (Yes, I realise that makes no sense, if it's so innocuous and gets washed away.)

Not all bathrooms have toilets in them. To get to the toilet from the shower we have to go across the landing so you have to add on towelling off so you don't drip all over the carpet. Much easier to just pee in the shower.
