To say it OK to pee in the shower?

GingerNutMe · 25/09/2022 10:13

So the question is, is it OK to pee whilst in the shower - proviso being you ensure you have washed everything away properly. The topic of conversation came up relating way back to one of the Big Brother series where someone admitted to regularly peeing in the shower.

One logic was 'well most families share one sponge/flannel/fluffy to wash their faces as well as all their bottoms and winky bits' ..........

After my hysterectomy I just couldn't wee. My surgeon told me to have a shower to help me. That was in hospital. The ward was all single rooms, each having its own shower/loo so no sharing with others.

Gross. I don’t understand all the people who think this fine. I didn’t know the things posted by @Rosscameasdoody but makes sense.
@RustyShackleford3 I get the water conservation angle but still it’s grim. What’s wrong with peeing in the loo and only flushing when someone needs to poo? Tho a dunny with sawdust would probably be better.

So it's "gross" and "grim" to pee in the shower, but not gross to have a shower or a bath in the same room as a toilet full of stale piss?

Noteverybodylives · 25/09/2022 12:35

@RustyShackleford3 I’m not sure if your talking about me or the PP.

I’ll assume it’s the PP as common sense or a quick Google will tell you otherwise.

I'm not sure what you mean - did I do a quote wrong?

I don't use this site much, I can totally believe that I would have ballsed something up.

For clarity - I have no qualms with people peeing in the shower, since mine is regularly cleaned anyway. Can't abide people pissing in the toilet and leaving it to sit! I live near the equator and it's at least 30°c every day, usually more, and sitting piss stinks the entire house out. It's even worse than poo.

We try to conserve water because it's scarce where we live. I imagine that is less of a concern in England. I hear that you get plenty of rain. We do not.
Different priorities.

Bogofftosomewherehot · 25/09/2022 12:41

YABU - but only for calling them "winky bits" FFS!

ShimmyYaYaYay · 25/09/2022 12:41

KnickerlessParsons · 25/09/2022 10:25

Yes it's ok. We don't share flannels etc though, although we do share towels.

Eewwww you share towels?

ReneBumsWombats · 25/09/2022 12:42

What’s wrong with peeing in the loo and only flushing when someone needs to poo?

So it's disgusting to wee in the shower where it gets washed straight down the drain along with all the other dirt you're washing off, but it's fine to have it sitting stagnant in the toilet for up to 24 hours?

catfunk · 25/09/2022 12:42

If you allow yourself to pee in the shower you’ll soon be at risk of peeing yourself when washing your hands or walking anywhere with running water.*

well I've peed in the showed for years and I've always managed not to piss my pants when washing my hands 🙄

gretr · 25/09/2022 12:42

Noteverybodylives · 25/09/2022 12:34

No one should pee in the shower for the simple fact that your brain associates water with peeing.

If you allow yourself to pee in the shower you’ll soon be at risk of peeing yourself when washing your hands or walking anywhere with running water.

And you may become like Ainsley Harriet who says he always wees in the bath 😂😂

It’s much better to stop yourself peeing in the shower so you can mentally train yourself not to need a wee near running water.

😂 seriously, that has given me a much needed laugh! I pee in the shower, my husband pees in the shower and have done since children. We’re both able to control our bladders when faced with running water. I have never known a case where someone wets themselves whilst running a tap. If this was the case (a lot of people pee in the shower), everyone would be constantly walking round with a wet patch on their trousers!!!

Sparklingbrook · 25/09/2022 12:43

I think we all agree that the worst bit of all of this is the use of the words 'winky bits' and is worse than peeing in the shower and maybe sharing flannels.

Novum · 25/09/2022 12:45

Pee is much more hygienic than the rest of the dirt you wash off in the shower.

MzHz · 25/09/2022 12:46

Peeing standing up is better for you. Urine is sterile, it’s even safe to drink, and presumably a wee in the shower is during the shower so rinsed away anyway

can’t get over all the flannel clutching and vexing

PeloFondo · 25/09/2022 12:48

JuliaDorneys · 25/09/2022 11:51

In our house we don't possess flannels or any of the stuff people use to 'wash'.

Flannels are disgusting, along with loo brushes. Unless you use it once then boil-wash it.

Why do you need a flannel in the shower? We just put shower gel into our palms and use our hands to wash.

As for sharing towels- yuck.

They're not disgusting if you wash them! I like to be clean so I use soap and a flannel because I want to scrub my armpits and feet, hands don't work for me to get deo and dead skin cells off
I wash my face (using a flannel), use it on my body and then it gets washed

TiredButAlive · 25/09/2022 12:52

Unless you have an infection, and you'd know about that, urine is sterile and harmless. It's also healthier to wee standing up as you void the bladder more completely. Many women find it tricky to wee standing up over the toilet so doing this once a day is a positive thing IMO.

Novum · 25/09/2022 12:52

I read that the average person's mouth contains several times as much bacteria as urine.

GG1986 · 25/09/2022 12:53

Yeah I do occasionally 😅 don't really see the issue, shower gets cleaned after.

Sparklingbrook · 25/09/2022 12:54

@GingerNutMe What do you think of the replies so far, are they what you were after?

Noteverybodylives · 25/09/2022 12:59

There are many people who do.
Let me know how it goes in 5 years time lol.

There’s a reason lots of people pee in the shower and in swimming pools etc.
It’s not because they’ve spent hours in there.

Surely you’d just go for a wee before you get in the shower and you won’t need a wee when you’re in there?
But if that was the case then no one would need to wee in the shower.

It’s a scientific fact that being around water makes you believe you need to pee (hence PPs saying they pee in the shower), giving in to this means that you’re more likely to need a wee and your brain tells you it’s ok.

Matrons · 25/09/2022 13:03

I don't do this. Toilets were invented fir a reason 🤔

Roselilly36 · 25/09/2022 13:05

HangOnToYourself · 25/09/2022 10:27

Only if you are alone in the shower

😂my first thought too!

Shlomping1234 · 25/09/2022 13:07

As long as no one shits in the shower 💩

😂 can’t wait to see this happen, will it be 5yrs exactly? My parents pee in the shower, they’re now in their 70s and also have no difficulty in not peeing when there is water running. How many years exactly do you need to pee in the shower for before this happens? I think I might start another phd on this, sounds fascinating! Are those that have peed in the shower for all their life just walking around in nappies now in case they hear a tap? If you’re hard of hearing, does that help, or can this happen just by looking at a tap?

pinok · 25/09/2022 13:11

All sorts get washed down the shower plug though doesn’t it. Sweat, dirt, dead skin cells, period, bum residue, poss mud and grime depending on jobs/hobbies. What’s a little bit of pee to that.

Livinginanotherworld · 25/09/2022 13:12

Everything about this thread disgusts me, use your own wash cloths and towels, don’t pee in the shower or leave it lying in the toilet without flushing. Raise your bar people, you are like savages !

Smellyoldowls22 · 25/09/2022 13:13

I not only wee in the shower, I positively look forward to doing so.

YoSofi · 25/09/2022 13:14

I’m pretty sure they meant WRINKLY bits, for all those disturbed by “winky bits”
