For those following this existing thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4635864-tradesperson-inviting-people-into-my-home?page=1 aka the tale of the fluffy blanket and the dodgy electrics thread, it continues here.

Nothing new to add at the moment though, but the previous thread is almost at capacity.

The conversation needs to be in front/ in ear shot of a camera. Is that in legal??!

hashbrownsandwich · 23/09/2022 06:39

Fully invested - good luck @IvyPlant

Sounds like you have evidence that the visitor is on your property, but do you know what she was actually doing while there? As someone else said 3 or 4 hours is a long time for hanky panky. They could still claim she was helping him with his work.

Jesus. What do you think "I have evidence that relates to how the uninvited visitors time is spent at my property" means?

Dinomum79 · 23/09/2022 06:58

Good luck OP, I would have done the same which wouldn’t have been easy. Can’t wait to find out what happens!!!

ThatMiddleClassFood · 23/09/2022 07:18

Please confront him with someone else in the house and/or in front of the cameras in case he gets angry.

Stars2theside · 23/09/2022 07:19

Good luck today OP!

3ShotsOfEspresso · 23/09/2022 07:51

OP - I think deducting the time the woman was there is the absolute least I’d expect. This was a pretty gross invasion of your privacy and it’s hard to imagine on the days she was there that he was doing his finest work either side of that time.

I think you have a very reasonable case here for a bigger discount.

And no, it’s not blackmail. Public, factual reviews of your experience are standard. If he wants to avoid that he needs to make you a fair offer and moving forward he needs to become more professional and not abuse the trust of people he’s working for.

Yes it’s perfectly legal to film someone isn’t it? And if it’s a hidden camera in the OPs home , that’s perfectly legal to.

Dave20 · 23/09/2022 08:51

The OP isn’t blackmailing him. She isn’t asking for any kind of reward or to gain anything out of this.

She’s payed a tradesmen an hourly / daily rate to work in her home.
He invited someone else over for what appears to be extra marital liaisons. The OP doesn’t want to let out what she has yet. It’s safe to say he crossed the line with what the OP has said.

Total abuse of a customers trust, and disloyal to his wife/ partner.

Maybe like this?;

😆😆😆😆😆

I think deducting the time the woman was there is the absolute least I’d expect.

i think i would ask for an explanation first why she was there, what she was doing.

AlisonDonut · 23/09/2022 09:14

OP I don't know why you got such a load of stick about this, he is coming [no pun intended] into your home over a long period and as someone who used to enter people's homes in the space of my work, you are in a position of trust whilst you are there. It goes without saying that they could always be testing you with hidden cameras and you should be behaving as if you are being observed at all times.

GnomeDePlume · 23/09/2022 09:39

@IvyPlant is it possible that what the electrician's lady caller is doing will leave your home identifiable on the Internet?

If so are there steps you can take to get content taken down?

Aussiegirl88 · 23/09/2022 09:56

What if she comes back today?

he's coming today instead of Saturday could be to entertain her?

IvyPlant · 23/09/2022 10:09

I don't think my home is identifiable from anything I've posted? Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

My evidence is printed and ready and waiting for when I speak to him later. I'm going to go for a softly approach and then see how he responds through each line of questioning.

Good luck today @IvyPlant I agree with your approach, I had to sack a massively misogynistic plumber once off a job because his attitude of not listening to ‘the little lady’ was itself irritating but then poking his nose into every other trades work onsite quizzing what they were getting paid(wtf?) was pissing everyone off. After being sacked (and paid for what he’d done) he came back on site, sabotaged the work he’d done and other trades work also. He was somewhat surprised when I called the police after I discovered this who then paid him a visit to the family home. Sometimes contractors (like a whole section of the population) are just entitled wankers.

As an aside you might want to get Mn towers to amend the title to read ‘don’t post unless you’ve RTFT’ as it’s all getting a bit ‘cancel the cheque’ 😂

KimberleyClark · 23/09/2022 10:28

Shamelessly placemarking!

sashadjas · 23/09/2022 10:30

@IvyPlant I think your home would only be identifiable to someone living locally, who would also have to be following this thread (and bothering to read it in it's entirety). Unless there's something I've missed but it's all so exciting I'm going to have to read it all again anyway!
Sitting here with a poorly wee boy, a buckwheat heat pack tucked under my jaw (abscess, molar extracted afew days ago), brew and a Terry Pratchett nearby. This story is my day!

SueDCreme · 23/09/2022 10:53

I'm humming 'The Sweeney' theme tune now......

Alarm59 · 23/09/2022 10:59

This guy is genuinely ripping you off by with evidence he might shit himself and reduce his rate 😂

I'm envisaging Line of Duty style. Have you got a tape player with an extremely long beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep?
He's entitled to be questioned by an officer at least one rank his superior... which I'm sure you are.

HappyGoLuckyLuLu · 23/09/2022 11:48

I dare you to read him his rights & ask if he wants a lawyer present 🤣
