For those following this existing thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4635864-tradesperson-inviting-people-into-my-home?page=1 aka the tale of the fluffy blanket and the dodgy electrics thread, it continues here.

Nothing new to add at the moment though, but the previous thread is almost at capacity.

mumsnet line of duty style!! go on OP!

Dave20 · 23/09/2022 11:52

Well OP you you could open up your conversation with your dishonest tradesmen in the style of Lieutenant Colombo.

You were an ex police officer yourself !

I’m waiting for people to cotton onto the fact that @IvyPlant is not looking for opinions or suggestions…

🙏🎯👌

I don't think my home is identifiable from anything I've posted? Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

My evidence is printed and ready and waiting for when I speak to him later. I'm going to go for a softly approach and then see how he responds through each line of questioning.

@IvyPlant I didn't mean identifiable on this thread but if the electrician's lady friend had been doing anything online while in your home.

You haven't detailed what she/they have been doing so just in case what they had been doing was for the benefit of an online audience.

IncompleteSenten · 23/09/2022 13:28

I think him reducing your bill by the hours he wasted is fair.
Good luck.

BananaBender · 23/09/2022 13:30

Jesus. What do you think "I have evidence that relates to how the uninvited visitors time is spent at my property" means?

Ok, I get it, thank you! I took “how” in the wrong context, there really is no need to get your knickers in a knot and be so bloody rude.

Takeitonthechin · 23/09/2022 14:30

@IvyPlant ... yes totally understand your thinking having son with you and not wanting to have a conversation with trades person in front of him.
Shame for his wife though, that all this is going on behind her back and she probably doesn't have a clue... poor bugger!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2022 14:30

Good luck @IvyPlant and yes maybe record via your door camera or have partner there

as I said before this is your life

some on here think it’s a laugh to find out the next instalment

WhiteCatmas · 23/09/2022 14:51

Charming behaviour from the Daily Mail there.

OutWalkin · 23/09/2022 14:54

What a complete rag that site is. I wonder how MN justify allowing them to print content and screenshots.

Stressybetty · 23/09/2022 14:55

Hate the lazy way daily mail creep round Mumsnet then write it up in a gossipy way. No thought about potentially exposing the OP

kateandme · 23/09/2022 14:56

I think you’ve been really really clever at not making anything that can give you away op.
I’ve been trying to put myself in all scenarios and couldn’t think how it could be.
mif the specific people are on these boards then no matter what an op did they would no. You’ve done nothing to put yourself at risk though honestly.
its actually quite helpful because you’ve given yourself a written dated time of events regarding yourself!
Deff go in slowly slowly with him.he kicked you around in the worst way if he’s done what you think.there should be no guilt on how unhandle this next bit.

IvorCutler · 23/09/2022 14:58

Could there be some kind of mumsnet code so this shit doesn’t happen? Like a disclaimer at the end of op saying *this isn’t true. Even if it is 😉
Surely any journalist with an ounce of integrity couldn’t publish something that said that.

ThatMiddleClassFood · 23/09/2022 14:59

You'd think they'd at least wait for the outcome 🙄

Kwasisspectacles · 23/09/2022 15:00

@IvyPlant i’d check if you’ve posted any identifying details on any other thread if the Fail have picked it up. I think the only way this community stops the journos is if everyone has a user name which includes the words daily mail and cunts unfortunately…

kateandme · 23/09/2022 15:01

How the f do they get away with screenshots m.they really are disgusting aren’t they.makes me feel really sick.
let’s hope op gets this sorted before anyone can see it.
god they’ve really made me angry.they are trash.

IvorCutler · 23/09/2022 15:01

Or could mumsnet be leaking these stories so that people are directed to the site to boost advertising revenue?

That’s a really good idea I think. At the beginning and end.or something like I made up a story today….

This is why I thought so many of the threads on here ended up “reported” elsewhere.

But if you've read the whole story in a nice condensed version on the daily fail, why would you come here to read pages upon pages of people "place marking" and shite. They are picking out the "best parts". It is so infuriating and it really annoys me that this is now considered "journalism". Seriously how lazy can you get.

True!
