For those following this existing thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4635864-tradesperson-inviting-people-into-my-home?page=1 aka the tale of the fluffy blanket and the dodgy electrics thread, it continues here.

Nothing new to add at the moment though, but the previous thread is almost at capacity.

You're definitely more of a calm person than me. The work would have been stopped the minute i saw the first doorbell footage. Id have been straight on the phone.

If he's doing this on one job, how many others is he also doing it to?
Nice little earner methinks.

IANAL and would love to here from one.

What if she said "I am paying you X because that is the correct amount for the amount of time you were working. If you want to take me to court for the balance you can"?

I cannot see that this could be regarded as blackmail, yet it is exactly the same thing pretty much - accept X or risk your wife finding out.

The first bit is fine, but threatening to tell his wife unless he accepts her payment terms is what makes it blackmail! I can't see OP doing that.

Phew ! Found it.. saw the title earlier today and thought it.would be a warning about not using electric throws/blankets !.

OP has clearly stated there will be no blackmail involved. Just a deduction for hours not worked.

OP loving your approach - can't wait to hear the next instalment

Univited visitor's time* should be an apostrophe, not plural visitors.

Loving the correct grammar - you've obviously been in pedants' corner Grin

Hope he does do a good job for you and then once he's paid (only for the hours he's worked!) you're rid of him and his sleazy business!

That said, if there is cheating going on, I hope the OP says to him on the final day that she has camera footage and will send to his wife/partner within a week so he better tell her first, or something like that.

I don't think the OP needs to get into the dramatics of threats and blackmail. Her bugbear with this (rightly so) is the CF charging her for hours he hasn't even worked. She doesn't need to embroil herself in his personal life for the amusement of strangers on the internet.

No, she doesn't, but as a woman, and one woman to another, I always think it's the right thing to tell the unsuspecting woman that she is being wronged. Not to mention the STI possibility. But, this is IF it is the case he is playing up. Only the OP knows at this stage though.

It's not her responsibility to blow up his poor wife's life.

He will be blowing up her life, not the OP. Especially if she gets an STI. Most women would want to be told. countless threads on this site where posters say they think the OW should be told attest to this.

This is a business transaction between OP and him that could turn nasty if he refuses to agree to the reduced hours payment – the last thing OP needs is to put herself in the middle of his marriage too. She's not her friend, she doesn't owe her anything.

If the other woman is not another woman and just an apprentice I would think there will be a lot of sad people on here and to be quite frank it's like the op is getting off on it all, seems like a hell of a lot of pent up drama for which there could be a reasonable explanation, not that the op would admit it.
