For those following this existing thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4635864-tradesperson-inviting-people-into-my-home?page=1 aka the tale of the fluffy blanket and the dodgy electrics thread, it continues here.

Nothing new to add at the moment though, but the previous thread is almost at capacity.

I sincerely hope this thread isn't going to be overrun with idiots who don't know how to click on Watch This thread and want to spam the threads with their ignorant and lazy 'placemarking' (I've to 'placemark' them on their heads!)

That said, if there is cheating going on, I hope the OP says to him on the final day that she has camera footage and will send to his wife/partner within a week so he better tell her first, or something like that.

Cocolatte24 · 22/09/2022 15:31

She has internal video and sound footage

Love the title.

IsAinmDummm · 22/09/2022 15:43

I think you're handling it perfectly! Best of luck getting money off for his "leisure time" at your expense.

astarsheis · 22/09/2022 15:45

You're spinning a good yarn 😉

I don't think the OP needs to get into the dramatics of threats and blackmail. Her bugbear with this (rightly so) is the CF charging her for hours he hasn't even worked. She doesn't need to embroil herself in his personal life for the amusement of strangers on the internet.

3Blues · 22/09/2022 15:47

Following as the saga continues!

IvyPlant · 22/09/2022 15:47

To be clear, I have evidence that relates to how the uninvited visitors time is spent at my property but I don't really want to divulge here until the work is concluded in case it is too identifying. I will of course share with you all the nitty gritty details that people are probably hoping for once the work is completed if you can hang on until then. It's not a drip feed, but is withheld out of genuine concern of the press picking up the info and distributing it online. The last thing I want is for the tradesperson to stop or sabotage work before he's finished based on what he might have read online.

Univited visitor's time* should be an apostrophe, not plural visitors.

I thought this was going to be a warning thread about how fires can start.

Not that type of fire, eh Mr Sparky 🙄

Good luck with what you need to do, IvyPlant.

Me too!

nearly didn't open it 😳😳

Youaremysunshine14

I'm paying you X or telling your wife just how dedicated your apprentice is should cut it.

Um, isn't that blackmail?!

Depheadmess · 22/09/2022 15:55

NeckFanInSoftPlay · 22/09/2022 14:11

@PyongyangKipperbang I beg your fucking pardon? I can understand English perfectly fine thank you! You however, pop up on various threads, as the only one who cannot understand the narrative every bugger else can!

Wrong thread maybe?

Bookworm20 · 22/09/2022 15:57

Have read all of your last thread, and think you are handling it very calmly IvyPlant. It is definitely best to get the work completed and not be worried he has sabotaged anything. And brilliant on the spy cams!

As an aside, there are quite possibly a fair few mners across the country whose husbands are in fact electricians and due to be finishing a 'big' job this week who are following this thread like crazy for when the details come out.

Longdistance · 22/09/2022 16:03

When is he supposed to be finished? The electrics I mean…

I’d make sure he’s finished the job and then message his wife the footage 😈

My DH keeps coming home covered in fluffy blanket fibres and a twinkle in his eye! Getting my ducks in a row.

wineandcheeseplease · 22/09/2022 16:04

I was wondering when he is meant to be ending the job too

GrilledSneeze · 22/09/2022 16:05

Very wise, @IvyPlant.

Vecna · 22/09/2022 16:11

Oh so glad there's a new thread. I was getting anxious about being unable to find the conclusion! 😂 I need closure! I hope the confrontation goes well @IvyPlant.

YouSirNeighMmmm · 22/09/2022 16:13

Youaremysunshine14 · 22/09/2022 15:54

Um, isn't that blackmail?!

IANAL and would love to here from one.

What if she said "I am paying you X because that is the correct amount for the amount of time you were working. If you want to take me to court for the balance you can"?

I cannot see that this could be regarded as blackmail, yet it is exactly the same thing pretty much - accept X or risk your wife finding out.

TimeAtTheBar · 22/09/2022 16:14

Ooh I bet there’s a few tradespeople out there who have seen this thread and panicked.

I do think it’s pretty commonplace. My ex husband certainly did it.

Vecna · 22/09/2022 16:16

Also, I think people suggesting you confront or even get rid of him before he's finished must not have dealt with tradespeople lately. They're all very busy, and they can pick and choose their jobs, when they get round to them, and how much they charge. It would be a mistake to lose him mid-job that would likely cost OP months and money.

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/09/2022 16:18

I totally agree it is best to wait until you have confronted him before telling us more. From accounts of posters, this is getting quite a lot of interest.
