Lots of comments about Holly W supposedly saying she’s going to quit This Morning..do you think she will, why? Would that be a good move?

This will end like Caroline Flack if everyone keeps going on!!!

Oh get a grip!

Happyher · 21/09/2022 05:24

She might as she’s never faced such a pile on before even when they cosied up to Johnson. She’s used to being popular and loved The herd moved on Johnson and now it’s moving on her and Phil. It must be quite terrifying.

I actually really don’t understand this situation. There is a media area and a public area. Phillip and Holly work for media and therefore went through the media area. The same as media go straight through for gigs and the like without standing around waiting or queuing. I really don’t get how people can get so irate over this?!

I agree. It's quite unbelievable that these two are being hounded by the public like this - and all in the shadow of a far more seismic national event.

If either of them resign I hope there will be a huge show of solidarity and support from everyone else in their profession. Or how about a petition to bring them back? I would certainly sign that - even though I've never watched the programme in my life!

I don't have the words to describe my opinion of anyone who has actually signed this petition - HQ would delete me.

Wouldloveanother · 21/09/2022 05:32

I doubt it but I hope so. I’ve never read anything nice about her by people who have met her.

I imagine the saddo’s who sign such petitions have never even watched this morning They’re up there with people who review products they’ve never bought and complain to ofcom about shows they’ve never watched.

It’s ironic really because those types display all the traits they claim to dislike about their victims.

Saddo who signed the petition here
I have watched for years, not so much when Phil and Holly are on, the utter disgust of watching them laugh the day they did the win your energy bills for 4 months turned me totally off them ( and the brown nosing Johnson)

Do you think there should be a petition started to sack anyone you dislike (whether in the public eye or not) from their job?

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 21/09/2022 06:06

I don't think what they did was bad at all, but the reaction to this - and the part of the programme where viewers could win their energy bills - is proof that the viewing public is no longer on their side.

Ofnadwy · 21/09/2022 06:13

How bizarre

Veeragall · 21/09/2022 06:16

I don't understand the fuss. I bet anyone who had the chance of avoiding the queue would have done so. Hundreds of MPs and their friends and family did. I'm sure there were other well known faces who did. David Beckham queued (although he said he had a chance to queue jump) and he's seen as a hero. The herd mentality is frightening.

I can't stand Philip Schofield but don't mind Holly. I just don't get the vitriol for them doing something they were entitled to do.

Darbs76 · 21/09/2022 06:19

I’m sure that a lot of journalists went in this way, given this was an option. Just they weren’t doing it as part of a programme for their company so no-one knew or cared. The pile on is ridiculous now, they’ve explained why they went in the journalists entrance, and didn’t take the place of anyone in the main queue. People need to let it go now, this can take a huge toll on someone’s mental health and as much as Holly can get on my nerves (hence I don’t watch This Morning or anything she’s on) I don’t think she deserves this

RudsyFarmer · 21/09/2022 06:19

She has a lifestyle brand to promote so probably. She’ll do whatever makes her look the most saintly.

I also don’t understand the hate. I have no strong feelings re H&P either way-I don’t even watch This Morning , but I don’t understand what all the fuss is about. From what I gather they were there in a work capacity so why all the fuss?

Sausagenbacon · 21/09/2022 06:22

Why should anyone care.
And what's you AIBU?

catsandkid · 21/09/2022 06:26

I'm so perplexed as to why this is a problem at all. Or why anyone cares specifically about H&P using the journalistic entrance when loads of others also had the same opportunity as part of their jobs.

MPs were able to take family members with them on their queue skipping. Shall we hound them too?

I just couldn't care about this.

Chloefairydust · 21/09/2022 06:30

I think people already dislike them, and I think that’s why there’s been such a reaction from the public with the queue jumping scandal.

To be fair it wouldn’t be a bad thing to have a change of presenters, there are much more talented presenters that can host This Morning.

lemmein · 21/09/2022 06:30

I think Phil got off lightly with the young runner thing because covid took over, so the knives have been sharpening for a long time to bring him down. Holly is just collateral damage - they are a brand, one can't be damaged without the other, so I do think she'll part ways with him as he's become too toxic for the brand.

I think they are used to being 'tv royalty' with all the perks that brings, but they have made the grave mistake of thinking their status affords them the same privileges as the elite - they've gone into the wrong lane and Joe Public is furious about it

I find it fascinating really - people aren't upset about the concept of a 'VIP' lane (at a VIP funeral) so it can't be the inequity that bothers them. They should have perhaps called it the 'Etonian Queue' or whatever, then H&P would've known to steer clear and the public could be content knowing only those truly better than us were given special treatment.

The whole thing is bewildering - thank god our country is prospering and we have nothing more important to stress about 🤦🏻‍♀️

StripesAndWood · 21/09/2022 06:37

She doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed. Vacuous, puerile and irritating, she fits right in with the ITV brand.

I cannot abide her, her weird TV partner or the rest of This morning /ITV BUT this trial by social media is the lowest of low human behaviour, for that alone, she should stay and ride it out. Nasty internet mob.

the80sweregreat · 21/09/2022 06:38

The only way I deal with my dislike of both of these as presenters is to not watch it. At least Richard and Judy were credible journalists.
Twitter is vile and I agree the hate about this is wrong. I wrote a lighthearted thing on here about ' Queen Holly ' but really I didn't care they that they had a pass to see the coffin, many other people did as well.
I didn't know they interviewed Boris Johnson once and didn't give him a bad time. ITV have always favoured the conservatives though so doesn't surprise me at all and I'd bet money her husband is a Tory donor too!

sparklecement · 21/09/2022 06:42

I am saddened to see your thread just about Holly. Why not Phil? It’s been explained that broadcasters had a separate area to visit. Lots did. Not sure why they are being singled out. I can’t get that excited about it really.

PurplePansy05 · 21/09/2022 06:43

She won't walk. She'll be pushed but they'll make it look as if she walked to save the rest of her fraught image.

This should happen with both her and Philip.

Ofnadwy · 21/09/2022 06:45

The tide had already turned against these two. It’s been brewing for a while. The latest gaff with the dystopian game show segment didn’t help.

to claim either are “journalists” is a bit of a stretch - I don’t think this helps their cause either.

Their puerile behaviour on the show is tacky and it’s no wonder people are bored of them.

the80sweregreat · 21/09/2022 06:50

I don't like Phil that much either , but then I never have. I've never met him, but he comes across as a bit of a snob and very fake. Hence why I don't watch the show.
This morning is vacuous rubbish anyway.
Twitter is awful for this type of behavior though.
It isn't right.

You do know that they’re pawns don’t you?

Their interviews are scripted, the idea for the energy bills, the idea to go and cover the lying in state will all have come from the producers, and they’re employed to carry it all out.

If two different presenters had done the same thing, the reaction would have been different.

As for Johnson, again it depends on who it is interviewing him. Justine’s interview with him was cringeworthy, and yet because it’s mn people were cheering about it. And yet she trivialised the cost of living crisis by joking with him and asking inane questions about bedtime stories and favourite biscuits.

People’s reaction has nothing to do with the action, and everything to do with their personal feelings towards the individuals carrying it out.
