Car parked on my drive!
IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 12:20
Name change because this is very outing! Just popped out for ten minutes, come home and there’s a car parked on my drive! I live in a busy walking area, but there’s tons of street parking available, so no idea why they’ve used my drive rather than using that. Good news is, I’ve parked them in 😁 bad news is, none of my neighbours (two houses) can get their cars on the drive now and I’m guessing it’s one of their friends 😞
I’ve attached a diagram (of course!) but I’m crap at drawing so it’s not great. I’m house 1, and the X is the random car parked on my drive. Neighbours are 2 and 3 and have their own drives/parking spaces (both empty). My car is the * so it’s blocking everyone at the moment!

Am I being unreasonable?

If its one of your neighbours friends surely they would have told them.not to park on your drive , Yanbu

great diagram op 😂. What are the two parallel lines. Are they the road?
ILikeHotWaterBottles · 20/09/2022 12:28
Probably not neighbours friends if the neighbours aren't in. Likely a cheeky walker. You know the law op, start drinking. 😂
Lycanthropology · 20/09/2022 12:28
Have you tried knocking on your neighbours' doors to find out if it's one of their friends?
IncompleteSenten · 20/09/2022 12:29
Good.
Hopefully they will be back before you have to go out again.
ApolloandDaphne · 20/09/2022 12:29
How can you be sure it is one of their guests? Can't you knock on their doors and ask? It would be a shame to be blocking them too if they are not involved in this.
WildfellAnne · 20/09/2022 12:29
House would house 2 get to their drive? What’s the space between the drives? Gardens?
Lastqueenofscotland2 · 20/09/2022 12:29
This happened to a friend of mine it turned out to be a stolen car that had been dumped. I’d give the non emergency police like a call just in case personally.
TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 20/09/2022 12:35
call non emergency police number, ask if it's been reported stolen.
Icanstillrecallourlastsummer · 20/09/2022 12:35
Might it be a genuine mistake? Did you try knock next door and ask?
Someone came to visit me and parked on my neighbour's drive (their drive is next to our house so easy mistake to make - Ihad no idea where she parked), and said neighbours blocked her in and then came and verbally abused us both. It was really just a mistake and the reaction was ridiculous.
Penguinfeather781 · 20/09/2022 12:37
You’re completely unreasonable to block access for your neighbours, no matter who’s parked on your driveway.

This.
Do you live near an airport? Or a sports venue?
IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 12:40
@Thethingswedoforlove it’s like a shared drive that enters onto the main road? Like a sideways T
IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 12:41
@Lycanthropology neither of them are in

IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 12:42
@WildfellAnne its a bad drawing! There’s space between my car and their drive for them to get down and park two cars. I just haven’t drawn to scale :)
IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 12:44
@Penguinfeather781 im close to the neighbours and they’d let me know if they wanted to be in. I’m also working by the window and will go out if I see their cars
to everyone saying start drinking- I’ve got to pick the kids up at 3, and don’t drink anyway! Not sure there’s even alcohol in the house!

What sort of car is it?
That made me laugh. But I agree. We need to know. If it's a top end Ferrari, then ..... perfectly fine to park on your drive. If it's a Honda Jazz, it shouldn't be parking anywhere 🤣
LosingTheWill2022 · 20/09/2022 12:49
Sorry, I'm unclear about the set up.
Is it a private road off the main road with designated parking spaces for each house? Is it clear that these spaces are private for the house?
