Car parked on my drive!

Name change because this is very outing! Just popped out for ten minutes, come home and there’s a car parked on my drive! I live in a busy walking area, but there’s tons of street parking available, so no idea why they’ve used my drive rather than using that. Good news is, I’ve parked them in 😁 bad news is, none of my neighbours (two houses) can get their cars on the drive now and I’m guessing it’s one of their friends 😞

I’ve attached a diagram (of course!) but I’m crap at drawing so it’s not great. I’m house 1, and the X is the random car parked on my drive. Neighbours are 2 and 3 and have their own drives/parking spaces (both empty). My car is the * so it’s blocking everyone at the moment!

I hope nobody dropped any nails on your drive.

I like your thinking. 😂

We have a CF keeps parking across DM garage at rear of house, we need access as that's the closest we can park to the house to get DF in his wheelchair to a car. It's a neighbourhood unwritten rule that everyone follows to not park at the back of each others houses/garages except this one CF who has started doing it. If she doesn't park outside parents she does it to next door who also has same access needs as also disabled. I say she as nearly caught her to speak to once as she had just got in her car as I turned up in mine unfortunately my frantic waving to her to wind window down to speak didn't work and she drove off. Last week I stuck a note on her car asking her to park elsewhere (there's tons of room but she likes to park outside parents) hopefully she will be decent, if she doesn't there's another parking thread coming

Zonder · 21/09/2022 07:19

I'd have put a note on their windscreen but I suppose that still wouldn't mean you know who it was.

Oh Op, you must try harder on your next fake parking thread. 0/10.

I think it’s too dull to be fake. Why post a thread if you’re just going to move your car?!

IGetAParkingThread · 21/09/2022 08:08

@Fraine it was! I thought they’d be back before I had to move it, and I got excited about having a parking thread 😳 but thanks

Sorry, OP, on reflection, I was a bit testy!

Maybe because they got away! I hope they come back Wink

Kazibar · 21/09/2022 16:43

Being testy was justified!

niugboo · 21/09/2022 18:13

For info it’s illegal to block cars in.

IGetAParkingThread · 21/09/2022 18:58

@Fraine thanks 😁

@niugboo if it happens again, I won’t park it in. I’ll just park on my drive directly behind it 🤷🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
niugboo · 21/09/2022 19:11

That’s also illegal if you’re preventing it from accessing the highway.

Shortkiwi · 21/09/2022 19:46

Our last house had a big drive, probably 5 cars length. One day we noticed a strange car near the front of the property, well down our driveway. It was there about 30 mins. The owner of the car arrived eventually and when questioned as to why she was parked there she reported that there was nowhere else to park in the road whilst she did her errands!!! Flabbergasted doesn’t begin to describe our reaction!

dlizi4 · 21/09/2022 20:12

This caused all kinds of conflict in my house and I don't drive! Neighbour parked literally ONE inch in a space and it all kicked off - Praise the Lord I do not drive , i remember the fights and carnage

Latenightreader · 20/09/2022 15:20

We need a mumsnet parking infringement squad who can collect children/pick up shopping/deliver penguin bollards/stage a sit in as needed. Pretty sure we could cover most of the country between us.

Grin

Forget the Mn scarf.

Now we have the MN parking enforcement team

itsgettingweird · 21/09/2022 20:30

niugboo · 21/09/2022 19:11

That’s also illegal if you’re preventing it from accessing the highway.

Even if they've parked on someone else's property?

pattyf80 · 21/09/2022 20:31

Loving the diagram. 🤣

niugboo · 21/09/2022 20:46

@itsgettingweird yep. It’s a criminal fence.

T1Dmama · 21/09/2022 20:46

I’m a little confused by the drawing and can’t see how you’ve blocked their driveways … I think you should knock the neighbours doors and ask if the cars are their guests rather than presuming and preventing potentially innocent people accessing their drives…

bluesapphire48 · 21/09/2022 20:48

Call the police and let them handle it. It's thoughtless in the extreme, if it's not stolen.

FuzzyPuffling · 20/09/2022 13:41

I've got a Honda Jazz. It's fab.
And I don't park like a twonk (or a snob) either.

Ah, there's nowt wrong with a Honda Jazz. It's just a standing joke with a (male) friend of mine. I was just kidding 😚🙏

gimmepeaceandsky · 21/09/2022 22:52

Haha
good one

can you draw it again ? 🤣

Moiraped · 02/10/2022 09:14

Sounds akin to the film, watch out. Woman in the van. (Great film) oh and yes this is strange/random.

Spottingtwerps · 02/10/2022 13:21

@T1Dmama I think you should read the thread before commenting! No one was blocked in and the car went ages ago!

Late to the party!

T1Dmama · 02/10/2022 13:30

🙄😂😂😂😂yeah because we all have time to sit and read all the previous comments…. And you’re a little late yourself since I posted that over a week ago lol
you must be pretty bored

MarkHemmings · 02/10/2022 15:12

Best to just politely ask them not to park there ... these sort of situations can quickly get out.if control.
