Car parked on my drive!

IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 12:20

Name change because this is very outing! Just popped out for ten minutes, come home and there’s a car parked on my drive! I live in a busy walking area, but there’s tons of street parking available, so no idea why they’ve used my drive rather than using that. Good news is, I’ve parked them in 😁 bad news is, none of my neighbours (two houses) can get their cars on the drive now and I’m guessing it’s one of their friends 😞

I’ve attached a diagram (of course!) but I’m crap at drawing so it’s not great. I’m house 1, and the X is the random car parked on my drive. Neighbours are 2 and 3 and have their own drives/parking spaces (both empty). My car is the * so it’s blocking everyone at the moment!

PMSL! What's wrong with a Honda Jazz @SweetSenorita ??? 😂 I don't drive one but do you have something against that particular style of Honda, all Honda cars or random makes and models from multiple manufacturers? 😆😆😆

I'd be more pissed with a Ferrari being parked on my drive as they have no respect for gateways and gateposts (being the car that they are). Also, the owner of a Ferrari should be able to afford on street parking fees!

FuzzyPuffling · 20/09/2022 13:41

I've got a Honda Jazz. It's fab.
And I don't park like a twonk (or a snob) either.

2bazookas · 20/09/2022 13:43

I hope nobody dropped any nails on your drive.

SurpriseSurprise · 20/09/2022 13:49

I never get the mentality of folk who think it’s ok to park on others driveways

Hope you manage to catch them in action trying to leave!

carefullycourageous · 20/09/2022 13:51

Blatantly just marking my place for updates, I do love a parking thread.

MajorCarolDanvers · 20/09/2022 13:54

Following for the updates 😜

Outofdepthmum · 20/09/2022 13:55

Overinvested

SalviaOfficinalis · 20/09/2022 13:56

5/10 for the drawing. Appreciate the effort but could do better.

xogossipgirlxo · 20/09/2022 13:57

Out of curiosity- can you call police for such thing? It's genuine question, no one parks on my drive, I just nEeD tO KnOw :D

alittlequinnie · 20/09/2022 13:57

I had this near me last weekend. There's a drive to garages at the back of houses opposite.

Somebody had parked their Astra literally straight across the entrance to the drive.

One man trying to get out blasting his horn, knocking on everybody's door - 10.30 at night but no clue as to whose car it was.

I went to bed but DH said the police came at about 2 am and towed the car away - so they will do it - I always thought it was a myth!

@IGetAParkingThread

There was a thread a while ago where the OP rented and the landlord had let out the drive 🙈

MeridianB · 20/09/2022 14:09

Well done for blocking. What a bloody cheek these people have got.

Can you walk to school to pick up the kids?

Or get someone else to pick them up?

Or put them in an afterschool club until someone else can pick them up?
(Possibly too much??)

abovedecknotbelow · 20/09/2022 14:11

I'm supposed to working, can you update asap please or I'm just going to have to keep checking back! 😁

IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 14:14

no Updates at the moment, sorry! Can’t do after school clubs or taxis, got to leave in 30 minutes and haven’t seen anyone looking around

WibbleBibble · 20/09/2022 14:16

I would definitely do all I could to leave my car there. Depending on the ages of the children I would also pretend not to be in if they knocked later but stealthily watch from a window

Oh, no, no, no Op. That's not playing the game. You know full well that the CF will nip back when you are out and that is always a very disappointing ending to a parking thread. If you go out now you will BVU.

JestersTear · 20/09/2022 14:28

Any offices or anything nearby? They might not come back until 6ish.

That was me trying to sound sensible. Really, I'm just here for the updates!

Whatonearth07957 · 20/09/2022 14:29

Block them in again and leave a note in your car by windscreen saying they've parked on private drive and you are at number 1

Marvellousmadness · 20/09/2022 14:31

Worst drawing ever😅

I’m not sure. If they’re blocking your access/egress to your property, then you can.

but I think if they’re actually parked on your property, not on a public road, the police can’t do anything and you have to go to civil court to get it removed.

ZorbaTheHoarder · 20/09/2022 14:37

Is there a bow tied across the bonnet, OP?

(Just wondering whether someone might have left it on the driveway as a present for you).

Especially nice if it is a Ferrari, but even a Honda Jazz would make nice present!

Lottie4 · 20/09/2022 14:38

Do you really need to do pick up in car? If not, I'd be tempted to go out ASAP and do it on foot, leaving your car where it is. If not, I'd certainly leave a snotty not on their windscreen.

distracta · 20/09/2022 14:38

Police wont do anything. You need to trace the owner and go to court to have it removed but it is a difficult process. You're also liable if the car is damaged on your property.

A guy was in the paper a couple weeks ago because a car had been parked on his drive a couple of years ago and abandoned and he is still in the court process of trying to have it removed.

What you really should do is get a bunch of people to bounce it off your drive and onto the road if it hasn't been moved for a month or so. Then get all neighbours to delete any footage they have of it and claim ignorance.
