Car parked on my drive!

Name change because this is very outing! Just popped out for ten minutes, come home and there’s a car parked on my drive! I live in a busy walking area, but there’s tons of street parking available, so no idea why they’ve used my drive rather than using that. Good news is, I’ve parked them in 😁 bad news is, none of my neighbours (two houses) can get their cars on the drive now and I’m guessing it’s one of their friends 😞

I’ve attached a diagram (of course!) but I’m crap at drawing so it’s not great. I’m house 1, and the X is the random car parked on my drive. Neighbours are 2 and 3 and have their own drives/parking spaces (both empty). My car is the * so it’s blocking everyone at the moment!

no Updates at the moment, sorry! Can’t do after school clubs or taxis, got to leave in 30 minutes and haven’t seen anyone looking around

Honestly, why start a parking thread if you're going to ruin it by having the audacity to go out? Grin

Somethingsnappy · 20/09/2022 14:40

Also shamelessly place-marking, sorry!

Brideandpredjudice · 20/09/2022 14:41

OP I think we're going to have to request that you leave the kids at school overnight.

endofthelinefinally · 20/09/2022 14:42

My now DH used to live in a block of flats with limited parking. The management would glue a very, very large note across the windscreen of any car parked there that was not registered. I suppose you couldn't get away with that now.

This really made me laugh. Yes OP, you know the score. I'm sure the children will understand.....

KosherDill · 20/09/2022 14:55

Take an Uber to pick up your kids! 😁

MagpiePi · 20/09/2022 14:59

Are you allowed to let down their tyres, or would that be classed as damage?

Oysterbabe · 20/09/2022 14:59

Don't pick up your children! They'll be alright. You must stay where you are, do it for us.

Ok -
1post a snarky note using flour egg and water mix across the whole windscreen

  1. Drive at break neck speed to get the kids home asap
  2. If you get a ticket just appeal with a copy of this thread, include pictures, you'll be applauded and let off
  3. Sling sone ice, ribena and orange in a fancy glass and pretend you're sizzled
Go! Grin
Mouthfulofquiz · 20/09/2022 15:04

The kids will manage 😂

Libre55 · 20/09/2022 15:07

Let down the front left hand tyre. They won’t see it as they get in, but they will have to stop to change it before too long!

StridTheKiller · 20/09/2022 15:07

I truly hope this never happens to me as I'd not to be able control my anxiety, paranoia anx other mental health related shmptoms and would probably smash the car up.
You are very grown up and calm OP.

Weirdlynormal · 20/09/2022 15:11

Id have picked up your kids OP!

Latenightreader · 20/09/2022 15:20

We need a mumsnet parking infringement squad who can collect children/pick up shopping/deliver penguin bollards/stage a sit in as needed. Pretty sure we could cover most of the country between us.

Whammyyammy · 20/09/2022 15:21

Can we set up a go fund me to get the kids a taxi?

Mingot · 20/09/2022 15:28

Don't go out. It'll be gone when you get back

If the neighbours aren't home, it's probably not neighbours or pals.
Probably a cunning walker.
You are aware of the law, so start drinking.

Everanewbie · 20/09/2022 15:52

You must be home by now! I'm on tenterhooks.

Read this as cunning wanker … sorry to bring the tone down

IGetAParkingThread · 20/09/2022 15:53

Sorry everyone! Got home and the car was gone 😠

Surely a mildly passive-aggressive note on the windscreen is required? Hope they move soon OP. We had this a couple of times in our okd house, and one truly cheeky f*er had the audacity to respond to my request for them to get off my drive with "don't worry, I'll only be another 5 minutes".
