Ok, so this will probably get called a stealth boast, and maybe it is a bit, but I am so delighted that I have to tell someone!

It has been a shitty week. Expensive and seemingly never-ending house maintenance problems, work stress, dd's exam stress, worries and frustrations about an elderly relative etc.

I stayed in the office late this evening to get some work done. DH is overseas at the moment so it is just me and 17yo dd at home. I knew I would be coming home to an empty house because dd had a party to go to. All fine.

I just got home and she has tidied the whole house from top to bottom. Shock Hoovered upstairs and down, wiped surfaces... she even made my bed! And there are even fresh flowers!

So lovely to come home to a tidy house!Smile

Yay! Go DD!

Stichintimesavesstapling · 16/09/2022 19:33

What does she want?

fourplusfour · 16/09/2022 19:34

What a lovely surprise for you.

mrsfollowill · 16/09/2022 19:34

That is lovely - what a thoughtful DD you have! Just proves you must have done something right bringing her up Grin

autumnboys · 16/09/2022 19:34

How lovely!

mbosnz · 16/09/2022 19:35

No need to stealth boast - that's awesome! How lovely of her!

Anothernamechangeplease · 16/09/2022 19:35

Stichintimesavesstapling · 16/09/2022 19:33

What does she want?

Ha, I knew someone would say that. Grin

Nothing, I don't think. She has plenty of money thanks to her part time job, and she is so sensible that I generally let her do what she wants to do.

This is not a stealth boast. This is so much hope for those of us still at the stage where we’re picking up endless lego and bits of half-eaten fruit and lord knows what else. She is a gem.

I rarely do that 😁

You've raised a good egg there

eighteenmonthstogo · 16/09/2022 19:46

When ever someone asks what makes you most proud of your DC (they don't actually say that but ykwim) .. Kindness is always the MOST important quality of any human.. rich, poor, abled, less abled .. kindness is the leveller .

Well done OP for raising a child with the very best quality.

MonkeyPuddle · 16/09/2022 19:46

What a lovely child you’ve raised eh.
Make sure you give her a big love. Thoughtfulnesses is such a wonderful trait for someone to have.

Anothernamechangeplease · 16/09/2022 19:48

I just texted her. She said that she knew it had been a tough week and she wanted me to be able to relax at the end of it.

Think I might cry.Blush

And yes, to all those still struggling with the sleepless nights or the bits of lego on the floor or the teenage strops etc...it is all worth it in the end!!!
