To think it's acceptable for my DN to wear a body suit with no Bra?

Sunshineandrainbow · 19/08/2022 11:09

I would like some perspective on this please. Niece is 17 wearing an all in one body suit with no Bra on holiday, bra size is 30 a/b. Occasionlly you could see nipple through top.
Is it acceptable for family member to tell her to put a top on over bodysuit to cover up?

I stopped wearing bras years ago, always found them so uncomfortable. If people have an issue they can look away. Don't understand why a relative is looking at a 17-year-old's breasts anyway. That's what's unacceptable to me.

Msloverlover · 19/08/2022 14:27

some of these responses below in a different era entirely. Free the nipple! I am really enjoying how many young girls are so happy to go braless. I could have easily but never did as I was too self conscious about their size so always wore a padded bra. And now, it’s too late! Two ebf children have put paid to that.

What the fuck is this thread? Its weird from the first page.

And no, when we are subjected to fucking moobs all over the place as soon as the sun pokes out, I don't think a young woman in a dark opaque top should have to worry about whether someone might see the covered outline of her nipple. Women do have nipples, so what?

Jeez, misogyny is alive and well.

Couldn't agree more.

LosingMyPancakes · 19/08/2022 14:27

This thread is fucking depressing. It doesn't matter what she's wearing, it is ALWAYS acceptable to forgo a bra. The fact a lot of posters claim it's not classy or that they are basically asking to be perved on is fucking gross.

Why worry about the men when we have misogyny aplenty ourselves?!

stayinghometoday · 19/08/2022 14:29

Does the person having a problem with this also tell the shirted or non shirted men to cover up?

Dalaidramailama · 19/08/2022 14:29

17 year olds a slightly more vulnerable to pervy men than Middle Aged women with boobs down to their knees though. Of course it goes without saying women should dress how ever they see fit but we aren’t living in a glorious utopia where sexual violence against women, young women in particular doesn’t happen. I’ll make no apologies for not fitting into that idealistic and unrealistic world but you all crack on showing your kids nipples off to pervy blokes.

Hankunamatata · 19/08/2022 14:31

There ladies walking around in bikini tops in our town centre. Body suit is covered up. I'm much bigger boobs and sometimes just wear pilates top with bra shelf

SoSobored · 19/08/2022 14:32

I havent read the full thread but are you making sure that every single male you are on holiday with also have their nappies covered at all times? (Even though she literally had a top on) Like PP, I would love to be able to walk around with no bra under a t-shirt or vest but I haven't been able to since I was about 10 years old.

justasking111 · 19/08/2022 14:33

If the niece is 17 @Sunshineandrainbow can't be that old. I could understand a very elderly person. Perhaps it's an overseas country

That's ageist! Some of us have lived through the original Women's movement, if you don't mind 🙄

I really hate how teenager dress this day. If i’m in your position i just tell her nicely to put the bra on. But not pushy or anything. Just mention it nicely. Dont expect her to listen to you though.

Bloody right she shouldn’t listen to the OP. This is utter sexist nonsense.

I'm sure you have many more didn't

Star81 · 19/08/2022 14:48

Not much different to wearing. Swimsuit / bikini then ?

Biglumpycustard · 19/08/2022 14:52

If she is anything like my 19 year old, she probably won’t care and say people shouldn’t be looking.

Crunchymum · 19/08/2022 14:55

BorschtBitch · 19/08/2022 11:13

Do you mean they could see an erect nipple or the areola colour and diameter through her top? Because my nipples poke through even padded bras 😐
I think some bodysuits are more covered up than others so need more description or a photo. I think too much unnecessary nudity on holiday or not is vulgar.

You need more description or a photo?

Fuck off you perv!!!

I'm also thinking the OP is on the pervy side of this as well. Stop staring at your niece's breasts.

Blev2022 · 19/08/2022 15:04

The problem in all of this is that women's nipples (and breasts) have been sexualised for years. I hate it. Especially since Ive had two children biting on mine.

Agree with all PP's, it's just a nipple.

luxxlisbon · 19/08/2022 15:06

Its actually disturbing that you have posted this about your niece.

W00p · 19/08/2022 15:07

Wouldn't think anything of it, in fact I'd think "good for her" and get on with my day. Imagine being offended by nipples, how ridiculous.

FlissyPaps · 19/08/2022 15:21

This thread is so so so disturbing! Honestly shame on you OP!

housemaus · 19/08/2022 15:35

Absolutly a non-issue. Her age or bra size are nothing to do with it - people have nipples, sometimes our clothes don't entirely hide that fact, this is both unavoidable and not something that requires any adjustment.

The only bras I wear (soft bralet type things) don't hide my nipples anyway. So if the family member upset that the unavoidable fact of a human being having nipples isn't being hidden, what they actually want is for her to wear a bra that sufficient conceals the existence of nipples, i.e. something slightly padded. I find it DEEPLY weird that someone would want to force another person to wear a padded item of clothing to hide the absolutely unremarkable fact of their nipples existing.

(There are certain things I think people should avoid in most company, clothes wise - no genitals on show, no uncovered nipples on any sex unless at a beach. But as long as they're covered, this is ridiculous)

PikachuAndMe · 19/08/2022 15:55

Not your body, not your business.

WonderingWanda · 19/08/2022 16:01

Those were the days, being able to not wear a bra. Was the person who suggested it middle aged with droopy post breastfeeding boobs by any chance and jealous? Or just a complete prude?

ok I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are a very very fucked up individual so just pause for a second - you want the OP to sneakily take a photo of her DN’s breasts and upload them on to mumsnet?

Endlesslypatient82 · 19/08/2022 16:03

Because it’s either think you are very very fucked up
or
you are a raging pervert
