To not really like it when men post on here?

Just that really. After reading not one but two bullshit threads started by men in the last few days I’m just a bit sick of them posting on here. I love mumsnet. I’ve read interesting threads, hilarious ones, heartbreaking and sometimes infuriating ones and I just feel like saying ‘oh piss off’ every time a bloke sticks their neb in. It’s MUMSnet ffs. I know I am being unreasonable really and am a massive hypocrite as I’m not (yet) a mum myself haha and don’t actually contribute anything of value to this site myself but still….they get on my tits.

Why do women on this site have such a hatred of men
I never want an 'all women space'
Went to an all girls school, all girls together in my experience is hellish
3 sons, I value their opinions and life experiences
Paranoia of anything male on here is creepy

SausagePourHomme · 15/08/2022 22:43

In general yes but it would be a poorer place without PigletJohn who to my knowledge had never said "man here" just dispenses amazing advice.

I actually dislike non parents posting more. A SAHD probably has more in common with a mum than a woman without children (or DSC)

Yes a SAHD will have more in common with a mum. But a mum will have more in common with a woman without children than a man. Mums are women after all.

worriedatthistime · 15/08/2022 22:44

@DisplayPurposesOnly exactly you have no idea who really is behind many posts

ellieboolou · 15/08/2022 22:45

@bittertwisted Hmm haven't seen any man hate, doubt I'd have married one if I hated them.
Megiddo does everything have to be inclusive, its tiresome

I find that some of the threads by men go into a very long winded diatribe about how much they do at home, childcare etc. A lot of waffle, just get to the bloody point!

Yeah and the point is always that their wife doesn't want to have sex with them. I feel like saying have you showered today? Do you realise that twiddling a fork under the tap doesn't count as doing 'most of the housework? Do you spend 5 hours a day doing your hobbies instead of looking after your kids?'

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 15/08/2022 22:46

Doesn't bother me, the occasional annoying ones that appear I just ignore. Although there's no way of knowing if they are make or not. I'm sure there are plenty of posters on here that are male that I've never even noticed.

This website claims to identify the gender of a writer by examining some text submitted to them.
Have fun!

Agree about the irritating phrase ‘from a male perspective’. Just immediately makes me think the guy has no idea that much of our daily lives are dominated by the ‘male perspective’ and many of us enjoy this space as somewhere we can get plenty of female perspective.

There do seem to be some particularly unpleasant ones on the Relationships board at the moment who seem to have drifted over from some incel forum and are spewing their misogyny at vulnerable posters.

Maybe we should have an emoji like the biscuit to alert us to stop commenting on their angry posts.
How about a 🎩?

Constant boy and man hate on here
Level of prejudice is so unacceptable

ReneBumsWombats · 15/08/2022 22:47

Happy for men to post on here. Some alternative viewpoints and dissent aren't bad things. Or just as members of the community, such as it is.

Not very happy about the ones who are clearly here only because they want to correct women or downplay their concerns and tell them what silly billies they are. There are a few of those.

Not at all happy about the ones who try to get their misogyny validated by saying stupid things under a username like MarilynEsmereldaIAmSoFemaleXX. They can piss off.

mamabear715 · 15/08/2022 22:49

??? What does it matter?
The absolute hatred when there were men-only golf clubs, working mens' clubs etc.. can't have it both ways!
Welcome, gentlemen!

Mum4all · 15/08/2022 22:50

I think there are more men on here than we know, not to say that men are all bad or infiltrating the space.... but some of the voices I experience on here don't feel woman.

Please don't ask me what is a woman's voice, it just is .... sometimes!

Well if it sounds like an MRA and the username is something alone the lines of ImAWomanHonestISwearOnMyBoobies, it's pretty obvious.

I do prefer that this is a largely female space.
The men that post, particularly recently, tend to fall to abusive within about three comments...

Petros9 · 15/08/2022 22:58

I wonder if some men join because they appreciate a female perspective on certain issues.

I am a widower and have a teenage daughter. I've also started dating recently. So you can probably guess the kinds of things I might look for.

I wouldn't start a thread about something male-orientated but I sometimes comment when I think I've got something worth saying.

Who hates men? Many of us are married to men.

If you never want an “all womens” space, you have the entire internet to explore. Doesn’t mean you have to crap on places where women prefer a single sex space when you can easily leave

I don’t really like it either. In fact, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve read a post by a man that I thought was anything other than self-serving.

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 15/08/2022 23:01

ClappyFats · 15/08/2022 21:29

I'm with you OP. Maybe it's because men so vocally and physically colonise the majority of spaces that anything left that's mostly female feels like a breath of fresh air to me.

Yes this is fair comment.

I know the official line is that men are welcome, but there do seem to be more and more men throwing their masculine energy around. Not to mention the intel’s a PP referred to.

SoupDragon · 15/08/2022 23:02

Mumsnet has never been a female only space. It was never intended to be one either.

if you want a female only space, you'll have to set up one yourself.

What about all the ones that you don't know were posted by a man?
