To not really like it when men post on here?

Just that really. After reading not one but two bullshit threads started by men in the last few days I’m just a bit sick of them posting on here. I love mumsnet. I’ve read interesting threads, hilarious ones, heartbreaking and sometimes infuriating ones and I just feel like saying ‘oh piss off’ every time a bloke sticks their neb in. It’s MUMSnet ffs. I know I am being unreasonable really and am a massive hypocrite as I’m not (yet) a mum myself haha and don’t actually contribute anything of value to this site myself but still….they get on my tits.

'the dad' that was buried under the patio regularly beat his wife up and sexually abused their daughter IIRC.

Ahh ok ...i was only a nipper back then so dont remember that.

Oh yes, that's awful.

Mind you, Covid brought my baby back again, so it's not a permanent amputation! He's finally going again now, 4 years after we thought he'd gone! Assuming he can get a flat to rent, in an over heated housing market, that is.

I’m ready for the boomerang!

I'll never forget when they killed the dad and put him under the patio.Wonder how many mumsnet mothers have buried their husbands 😅

Oh Paul. You really don't do yourself any favours do you.

Call me dense, but the "JCB" reference a few pages back has just clicked!

Oh, now you've said that...me too!

Nice one, @DillonPanthersTexas !

I'm actually kind of morbidly fascinated by Paul at this point.

For what it's worth, I voted YANBU to the OP's question. I would miss MN if it were more strictly women-only, because it's funny, intelligent, and a bit of an eye-opener about the variety of human experience. I'm not aware of other discussion groups quite like it! But it's not really about what I think, is it? Especially seeing how threads get derailed by certain types of men.

That probably makes me a bit of a hypocrite, and sounds like "not all men" or trying to be a white knight somehow. Not the intent, but you can never be sure how your remarks will be received. (Can you, Paul?)

PhotoDad · 22/08/2022 15:12

"I'm sorry if you thought you were contributing to the conversation."

Is there an emoji for applause?

picklemewalnuts · 22/08/2022 15:52

Interestingly, it's very rarely relevant. Most men here fly under the radar. Some people are arseholes, regardless of their sex.
If you called yourself Photobod, no one would know or care.

Then there's the other kind of poster who just can't help himself. Inappropriate language, missing the tone (assuming threats are all just manswaggering that can be brushed off rather than actual real dangers women regularly experience), patronising...

It's like a little Britain sketch where the racist thinks the joke is on the foreigner.

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 22/08/2022 15:57

Yes I agree you’d slip by unnoticed under a different NN @PhotoDad because you’re not exuding toxic masculinity.

As a matter of personal preference, I do appreciate it when usernames give a clue that a poster is male, though.

Thing is, as I see it, it will only continue as long as people feel that they're not being got at or derailed by folk who outstay their welcome. I've been that person before, really it's hard to walk away when your comments aren't received well! Got to have the last word, that's what Men Do.

So I think I'll practice what I preach, and walk away now. It's been an educational hour or so. Hope to see many of you on other threads!

I'm not sure the rest of us have any left.
