To think Tattle is disgusting?

I was just searching for a lady I have followed on Instagram for some time (The Nurse Mum) who's little boy Jaxon sadly died. She's doing a ball event and I wanted to find out more info......anyway, after putting her name into Google I came across a website called Tattle with her name there. I've never seen this website before but having gone onto it my god it's awful! Such evil spouting from women about other people....I couldn't read on it was just so horrible and contrived.

How is something like that allowed to operate? Makes some of the 'harsh' comments on here look lovely 😕

I find it funny that a lot on there have a “holier than thou” attitude - but tgey are literally breaking the law (see trolling and mobbing). It’s a matter of time until the more extreme get outed and prosecuted. We have the right to show alarm at some of the extreme and illegal behaviour on their site which is funny because so many Tattle users who love “telling it how it is” are OUTRAGED that anyone else dare express their own opinions about Tattle users behaviour Grin the hypocrisy is strong

ermagerdabear · 13/08/2022 08:22

@Discrimination1234 if that were the case, Tattle would have been taken down now. They get threats about it all the time from influencers...and yet it's still there, and not one influencer has managed to have their thread removed.

Discussing people in the public eye is not a crime however much you'd like it to be.

SausagePourHomme · 13/08/2022 08:53

I think a lot of people find their way onto tattle because they've been sucked in by a particular influencer, been a fan for a while, maybe spent money on things this influencer recommended or sold, but had their suspicions raised. It might be something small, but some people have been hugely damaged by being in thrall to influencers that turn out (after some much needed scrutiny) to be lying, manipulating, acting in unsafe ways or putting other people in danger.

I mean for me, I feel embarassed at the shite i've bought because people like sali hughes or india knight recommended it. they are not the people I thought them to be.

Some influencers are really doing harm - and I mean criminal acts. Just think of the influencer who said she'd cured her cancer through healthy eating. It turned out she'd never had cancer - in the time until it came out, how many ill people followed her shit advice and spurned traditional treatment. Some influencers are exploiting people - financial, in some cases sexually. They are not above criticism, and the tattlers being 'obsessed' with them is the only real scrutiny that is being applied because who else has the time to add up the inconsistencies?

If it allows people to come together and connect the dots, that is a valuable thing.

Technically many of the posts are in violation of these two laws. Are you still a criminal if you haven’t been
prosecuted for things you did??? My point is, there is absolutely no doubt that many of the posts constitute trolling and that the atmosphere on there is abusive and often cruel. I do not think anyone would disagree with this. The fact they get threatened all the time with legal action just backs up my point!

Mumsnetters have every right to show alarm at this. If the site is constantly being threatened with legal action then surely they must have got the memo that their behaviour is not acceptable? Or do they just not care???

Its the holier than thou attitude that boils my piss. They are not moral crusaders righting wrongs!

Also, re concerns over influencers. This supposed “justification” for trolling multiple people daily is a completely separate issue.

Concerns over influencers? Report to the relevant people
Spiteful, malicious and often slanderous trolling? Separate issue and not cool

Mumsnetters, aye? 🤣 You seem to have a vested interest int this.

Trolling does not constitute a discussion about a person in the public eye, which said person has to seek out. If the person was receiving the messages in the question directly, you might have a point, which is why the general rule is 'keep it on Tattle.

ermagerdabear · 13/08/2022 09:13

Half the websites on the internet would be taken down, including MN, if that were the case.

Discrimination1234 · 13/08/2022 09:15

Bah I’m just playing devils advocate 😂 I was in Tattle once, three years ago and left immediately. I am just great at arguing. My points still stand though ☺️

Concerns over tattle, report it to the relevant authorities..

Discrimination1234 · 13/08/2022 09:37

I think the post about nobody has ever been prosecuted or no thread taken down is naive at best. Many threads are removed - 2 Britney threads on here the other day and if an influencer wanted to “defamation of character” “slander” “damage to reputation” or “loss of earnings” is only the start. Especially if Tattle comes up in google searches

Notatallanamechange · 13/08/2022 10:00

I found Tattle eye opening for the Ioan Gruffudd/Alice Evans divorce information. Whilst the mainstream media didn’t really want to report on it properly and shied away from reporting on her harassment of him, including contacting employers. However, I briefly wandered into a couple of other threads and some are just strange, grown people egging each other on to make unnecessary comments. It’s strange.

Blossomtoes · 13/08/2022 10:31

Totally illogical. Private Eye gets sued all the time because it tells the truth. Honesty is totally acceptable in my book. I like Tattle.

Tattle is “honesty” is it? Am I am being illogical 😂. Even Tattle users themselves admit that it’s really bitchy. Have you read this thread at all?

Seiheiki · 13/08/2022 11:04

UnboxedThoughts · 12/08/2022 09:18

I've found a tattle thread about an influential feminist psychologist, and the examination of her behaviour has opened my eyes a fair bit; she's very concerning and not many places allow such an open discussion about her actions.

Yep, that JT thread needed to be out in the open in honesty

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2022 11:18

Yes that's a new one isn't it?!

Only if what Tattle is saying isn't true and the best thing about Tattle is they have all the receipts.

Discrimination1234 · 13/08/2022 12:34

I am sure if Tattlers were treated in real life the way they treat celebs/influencers on Tattle, I am sure the penny would soon drop. Treat others how you wish to be treated. This is why I try not to openly criticise people and certainly not by name.

I remember reading about one influencer who was insulting people on Tattle and got outed and her career was never the same after.

You say treat others how you wish to be treated? I agree, it works both ways. So if an Instagrammer is telling you about their "favourite" products which they are paid to advertise, or get free or some shady practice and they are clearly lying to make some money. That's disrespectful to their followers and they need calling out. Why aren't influencers called vile, liars etc.

If Tattle offends you don't read it. Nobody's forcing you.

Sparklingbrook · 13/08/2022 13:40

What happens if you go out and buy the product and it turns out to be really good?

Nothing happens, that influencer is still being paid to say EVERYTHING is great. I wouldn't trust anyone who is shilling.

Nekomata · 13/08/2022 13:48

Do people really not know that social media isn’t real?

shilling? I don't know what that expression means.

Following someone’s every move on their public social media is not “stalking”. It is boring and pointless but not stalking.

Like I said I'm not perfect! I wouldn't however, seek out a website to go out of my way to insult people. Surely the tattle fans out there won't be offended though, everyone is fair game surely?

Nobody is offended. It's just funny that you're doing the same thing that you accuse the 'losers' and 'sad, vicious cows' of Tattle doing.

For those talking about 'children being attacked', can you give some examples? Most people on Tattle realise that slagging a kid off is off limits. They're sometimes discussed, but that's mostly in the context of the parents slathering them all over their social media.

There is an influencer who lives locally to me and people were on tattle posting personal comments about her 7 year old daughter's looks, her husband and also saying that she (the influencer) looks disgusting/needs a wash etc. I don't really know the woman and I'm not keen on influencers generally but there was just no need. It was fucking nasty and pointless. Maybe there are good aspects of the site, but any forum which allows this is a disgrace IMO. There are nasty comments on here but they get deleted if too personal.
