To think Tattle is disgusting?

I was just searching for a lady I have followed on Instagram for some time (The Nurse Mum) who's little boy Jaxon sadly died. She's doing a ball event and I wanted to find out more info......anyway, after putting her name into Google I came across a website called Tattle with her name there. I've never seen this website before but having gone onto it my god it's awful! Such evil spouting from women about other people....I couldn't read on it was just so horrible and contrived.

How is something like that allowed to operate? Makes some of the 'harsh' comments on here look lovely 😕

I like the Off topic and Advice topics on there. The people on those threads are generally lovely and so supportive of one another. It doesn't feel like everyone is spoiling for a bunfight, which to be honest is how Mumsnet often feels nowadays. I never come away from reading threads on Tattle feeling sad and despairing of people at a time when I really don't need it. I can't say the same for Mumsnet.
I would agree that some of the influencer or celeb topics can make for horrible reading. Some really do come across like people being vitriolic for the sake of it, as opposed to actually just critiquing valid concerns (of which there are many by the way). I find those threads aren't the majority though and tend to attract the same groups of posters so just avoid them.

I am referring to entire group that actively enjoying collectively joining up and targeting one single person, its very different and I would have thought that was obvious.

It disgusting and any decent human being would see that but I guess joining forces with other bullies, because thats what it is, makes people feel justified in their actions.

i think if you enjoy or engage in being horrifically hateful to others there is something very wrong in your mind.

Being rude or snarky about someone or calling into question how they scam their followers is not “bullying”. It might not be your idea of entertainment (and it’s not particularly mine) but it isn’t being hateful, targeting, bullying or any of the other hyperbolic language you like to use.

Tattle appear to have a clear policy against actually taking stuff from there to people’s personal social media; now that would be bullying. If people are doing that when the site discourages it, that makes them shitty individuals.

Suggesting that people are mentally ill because they are members of a particular forum is disgusting.

Suggesting that people are mentally ill because they are members of a particular forum is disgusting.

Indeed. But it has become more and more apparent to me that many of those who consider themselves to be in the moral, supportive and kind crew are so often anything but, themselves.

Theluggage15 · 12/08/2022 15:32

I like Tattle. It’s got some really interesting threads. I don’t like the way this site makes people tiptoe around stuff sometimes and so much is ‘not in the spirit’ when it comes to well known people that it makes threads pointless.

I’m not remotely interested in what Tattle members consider themselves to be.

Comparing reading a random bloody message board with having a mental illness is wrong.

FlorettaB · 12/08/2022 16:05

‘Not in the spirit’ = stop being a cunt

I was agreeing with you Smile

hangrylady · 12/08/2022 16:09

It's awful. Imagine being that much of a loser that you go onto a site specifically to slag off people you've never met to other randoms.

willithappen · 12/08/2022 16:35

@FlatWhiteExtraHot you are deluded if you think they stick to that 'policy'
Just have to read a couple threads and you'll see

Is...that not what you've just done? Or does it it only count if it's on Tattle?

Knowivedonewrong · 12/08/2022 16:44

Tattle is what it is. Its not full of the snobbery, sneering, attitudes quite alot of the posters on this site have. Mumsnet used to be a nice place. Not so much now.

CuriousCatfish · 12/08/2022 16:54

Tattle is full of sneering though. Surely that's the whole purpose of the site.

Softplayhooray · 12/08/2022 16:59

Hugasauras · 12/08/2022 09:23

It's a cesspit and I am always amazed how much people care about the lives of people they don't even know. The recent Lauren Goodger stuff was particularly horrendous. But they have cognitive dissonance about how spiteful they all are 🤷‍♀️

Please don't tell me they are slagging off Lauren Goodger after she lost her baby? That's beyond sick and disgusting. The site should be shut down for that alone.

LAS123 · 12/08/2022 17:14

Slagging off Lauren Goodger after the loss of her baby, the nurse mum after the loss of her 3 year old, literally ripping apart PTWM commenting on her appearance, her teeth, same goes for the knee deep in life lady, they are all subject to horrific relentless personal attacks far outside analysing their influencer perks.

its disgusting, bullying and those who engage in that are absolutely unhinged, dregs of society disgusting people and its clear there are many on this thread attempting to defend or deflect from this behaviour.

Teder · 12/08/2022 17:15

There are threads on tattle that I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. Some are genuinely enlightening and interesting. Some threads are bizarre; the amount of time and energy some people invest in hating one person is weird.

MN is less overt but can be equally snide and judgmental. I’ve seen clearly vulnerable people on here post for help and be torn to shreds. They’re not selling anything or making money, they’re asking for help and snide MNers stomp all over them. It’s not as blunt and obvious as tattle but it’s there. If people don’t see it, you need to look harder.

The irony in criticising tattle for the Harry and Meghan threads. The ones on here are awful. I don’t read any of them anymore. I’d get permanently banned!

Discrimination1234 · 12/08/2022 17:16

I try to build people up. To help them feel good, to heal, to make them confident and joyful- this is not only my job but my goal in life. A lot of instagrammers bring joy and knowledge to people. Some of them don’t disclose ads but some big busineses and governments don’t disclose much worse.

These “destroyers” won’t just be stopping at Instagrammers. It will be neighbours, frenemies, family, vulnerable people. People like me spend a huge amount of time trying to undo and heal the pain caused by people who just want to tear down all the time. Surely not every instgramner is an evil scammer? The law of averages suggests this can’t be true. What they are doing is projecting their toxic world view onto people around them.

And when they have torn everyone and everything down and the world is as ugly as them, what then?

LAS123 · 12/08/2022 17:19

There are even people who pay money to subscribe to the Patreon accounts of these people specifically to hunt for ammo to take back to their troll gang and further abuse.
Thats an incomprehensible level of weird to PAY MONEY to follow people you profess to hate to then dedicate so much time, energy and effort into regular updates about them (in hideous ways) whilst hiding behind a keyboard.
Anyone who does this needs to give their heads a serious wobble.

You are so so right @Discrimination1234 these people will be toxic and dysfunctional in most if not all areas of their life.

Penquinoa · 12/08/2022 17:30

I don't read the influencer threads, but I enjoy the Offtopic section, the gender discussion, childfree by choice, memes threads (especially as reddit childfree is fked up). I really only stick around here for the feminism board, (massive lurker) as it is quite a lot busier than Tattle, currently 😁
There is a thread on here at the moment which should be quite innocuous but it's full of bitchy, ott sarcastic and not so sarcastic "you sound bitter", "you sound jealous" replies.
You don't get that on Tattle "Offtopic".
I've been here ages and have name changed loads and I've loved it but by God it's exhausting now wading through the snide miserable and catty remarks that are made towards the OP on almost every thread, not just AIBU either.
So, YANBU to think the influencer threads are vile, but there is a lot more to Tattle than that.

ermagerdabear · 12/08/2022 18:03

You spend 'a huge amount of time trying to undo and heal the pain caused by people who just want to tear down all the time'? What does this even mean? And why?

And no, not every Instagrammer is an evil scammer. That would be ridiculous and nobody had suggested they are.

Some influencers on the other hand...

IcedPurple · 12/08/2022 19:21

I agree with others that some threads on Tattle have their own 'sub-culture', with regular posters and a general 'vibe'. The Harry and Meghan threads are awful (and I say this as someone who is the opposite of a fan) with weird right wing politics and conspiracy theories. By contrast, the Sali Hughes threads are clever, funny and well-informed.

In general, I don't find it a bad place. I don't have an account but I lurk now and then. It's less judgey and has less group think than MN, with all the 'Well, aren't you nice?', 'have a word with yourself' and 'give your head a wobble' stuff. People seem more open to other opinions and genuine debate than they are here. Also, there's very little danger of a thread being shut down due to posters accusing others of 'vile abuse' and 'spewing vitriol.

Ultimately, as the name suggests, it's a gossip site, so obviously if you don't believe that public figures should be criticised, don't bother with it. But it's really not the 'cesspit' that some here would have you believe.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 12/08/2022 19:25

People can criticise Tattle’s methods and motives, but a lot of social media “celebs” have been exposed for the scammers, grifters and liars that they are.

If that saves a few people handing over their hard earned and ill-affordable cash, it can only be a good thing.

Since people are questioning the mental health of those who post on Tattle, I would equally question the intelligence of those who think that Instagrammers and “influencers” post only the whole truth on their accounts.

I was making a point about something else - the fact that the tone of the threads varies. Not ironic.
