Keir? Next PM?

I don't think he is. Comes across as whiny and self-righteous. Next election I suspect the Tories are toast.

So - if not Dishi Rishi or Sir Keir - then whom?!

OP posts:
Od130990 · 10/07/2022 01:36

Boris if he runs again.
I can't see any potential in any others tbh

NeedToLeaveNow · 10/07/2022 01:38

@Od130990 😂

No potential in any others apart from Boris?
Boris will Never win again (I doubt he will run ever again)

DifficultBloodyWoman · 10/07/2022 01:39

As bad as the Tory party is, I cannot see Labour returning to power under Keir ‘TWAW’ Starmer.

He comes across as far too hypocritical. The only thing the other parties need to do to make him lose is run an ad campaign referring to him as ‘Sir Keir’, with the video of him drinking beer through the window in the background.

Od130990 · 10/07/2022 01:40

@NeedToLeaveNow each to their own. Boris has only had to stand down because of the weak who crumbled around him.
I want a PM who knows what a woman is & can define one.
I want a PM who doesn't crack under pressure. Like I say each to their own.

HRTQueen · 10/07/2022 01:50

I think Keir Starmer up against a political opponent who isn’t such a big personality may fare better

but where can Labour go at the moment they can’t rise tax to pay for investing, they have ruled out a return to the EU. Save the NHS ? I think many are now stating to question this

I also think he needs to reshuffle the shadow cabinet it looks very weak

Labours best bet is getting Andy Burnham to lead the party

Teddeh · 10/07/2022 02:01

The next PM is whoever wins the current Conservative leadership contest and therefore succeeds Johnson as Conservative Party Leader and therefore PM. So it'll be one of Badenoch, Braverman, Hunt, Javid, Shapps, Sunak, Truss, Tugenhead, Zawahi, or any other Conservative MP who puts their name in by tomorrow night and gets 8 MP nominations.

NeedToLeaveNow · 10/07/2022 02:09

And i want one who doesnt lie to protect a sexual predator @Od130990
So yes, each to their own

Od130990 · 10/07/2022 03:09

@NeedToLeaveNow Chris pincher was ALLEGED in 2017 & 2018 to have groped 2 Tory MP's but under investigation from the Tory party was cleared of any wrong doing.
Firstly; Boris wasn't elected until July 29th 2019.
Secondly; His own party Cleared him of any wrongdoing ( including all those who've now quit/resigned )
Lastly; He was cleared early in 2019 before Boris was elected ( yes Boris brought pincher back from a backbencher ) but remember he was found by the whole CONSERVATIVE PARTY to not be guilty of any conduct.

Figmentofmyimagination · 10/07/2022 06:09

Yvette Cooper for pm!

itsgettingweird · 10/07/2022 06:21

Kept Starmer would be very good at the job.

Morals and deep understanding of the law.

He's firm and forensic.

It's such a shame as a country we've decided we want a pantomime villain to run us further into recession rather than someone serious and sensible because it's deemed as boring.

Entertaining doesn't pay the ever increasing bill.

I'm not sure this is correct.

There was a complaint upheld. This was the whole issue of why Johnson was questioned about putting him in position.

Watch the 1922 committee meeting from last Wednesday. They managed to gain lots of information from their questioning of Johnson - this was also where he admitted putting our countries security and his at risk through meetings whilst a foreign secretary.

This is what reckless huge personalities get us.

Thisdressfitlastyear · 10/07/2022 06:26

Labour are infuriating. They have had countless opportunities now to present how they’d have done better. They haven’t done that.

I want to know what the country would look like with SKS as PM. At the moment, I don’t.

Fairislefandango · 10/07/2022 06:28

Who, not whom. Not Keir though. I'm not sure the Tories are necessarily toast ince they've got rid of Johnson.

Yvette Cooper for pm!

Agreed! @

User5935702 · 10/07/2022 06:32

Labour need to get someone else at the helm, maybe Yvette Cooper, I would probably vote for her, if the choice is Rishi or Starmer I probably wouldn't vote

MsMarvellous · 10/07/2022 06:36

Labour should be top of the tree at this moment. There has been so much material to work with but they're squandering it.

They need a different leader. I watched Keir speak on the day Boris gave his resignation speech. He was asked 4 questions in the clip I saw and gave the same answer 3 times. I understand about repetition of view being key to cuter recognition etc, but he just came over like a puppet unable to speak for himself.

Siameasy · 10/07/2022 06:44

Hmm I think the Tories will still get in next election. Getting a new leader will help that.

FourTeaFallOut · 10/07/2022 07:10

Apparently it is more politically satisfying for the Labour party and their members to retain the self satisfaction of their self determined political purity and simply blame the electorate for failing to put them in office than to go about the more difficult job of better representing their interests in Parliament.

So you can switch Starmer out for whoever you like and you'll still have the failed model of policy and identity building that gives them warm and fuzzies but fails to offer a viable political alternative for the majority of average voters.

FourTeaFallOut · 10/07/2022 07:15

I mean we have had a pandemic, a lying fuck fest of a Tory government, a decade of austerity, a cost of living crisis, the decimation of the nhs, more houses about to be in fuel poverty than you can shake a stick at...this should be a piece of cake.

KangarooKenny · 10/07/2022 07:16

I’d like one that doesn’t lie and has no skeletons waiting to jump out.

Oh go on then. What is a woman @Od130990 ?

itsgettingweird · 10/07/2022 07:18

Absolutely I've always love Yvette Cooper too.

I'd vote for her in a heartbeat.

User5935702 · 10/07/2022 07:19

Labour always give the impression they don't really want to lead, Starmer seems to not be a leader type at all and just waits for someone else to say something, he seems to have no ideas of his own.

Which party in January voted to remove VAT from domestic fuel bills and which insisted it was important to keep it?

User5935702 · 10/07/2022 07:21

Yvette Cooper is on the Sunday Show, it will be interesting to see what she has to say
