To ask if you pluck your chin?!

Musing this today as I was out and about and whilst holding my hand to my chin, felt another course hair and couldn't wait to get home and pluck the fucker out.

I noticed in my early twenties that my two small moles in my chin had grown unsightly hairs so I plucked them. Over time, more hairs sprouted from them...then I noticed the odd very long or very course hair on my jawline so would also pluck those out.

I reckon at 42 now I have about 14 hairs that I keep an eye on and pluck. This seems insane to me and was talking to two friends about it earlier. One smiled and nodded and said she does the same and the other scrunched her nose and said it was super weird! I should add the plucker is also quite moley so no idea if that's why!

So, is this a weird thing to do? Does it get worse with age? Am I destined to just add more and more to my plucking routine??

No I don’t pluck I get waxed every 3 weeks

housemaus · 25/06/2022 21:08

Yep...every bloody day. I do have PCOS though, so hairier than average!

pcosandme.x · 25/06/2022 21:09

Yup 👋🏻

greenacrylicpaint · 25/06/2022 21:09

bought a lady shaver.
quick easy and painless.

Popsicle33 · 25/06/2022 21:09

Yes. I noticed my first dark hair in my late 30s. I love plucking them. It's deeply satisfying!

anoniem · 25/06/2022 21:09

Phew, thought it was just me, I have to pluck mine on a regular basis!

catpoppet · 25/06/2022 21:09

isn't it the best solution to chin hair?? what other suggestions does your friend have?? hair removal cream would last about a day

catpoppet · 25/06/2022 21:10

weirdly they got a lot worse late 30s but have calmed in early 40s

TheLeadbetterLife · 25/06/2022 21:11

I’ve been doing mine since my teens (40 now), always had quite a few coarse hairs on my chin. It’s completely normal.

Spodocomod0 · 25/06/2022 21:12

I have had one course hair on my throat since my teens, I'm going through menopause now,(51) and it's been joined by 6 more. I've been plucking them out,but I think I'll have them zapped out soon.I think lots of women have at least a few.

watchagunado · 25/06/2022 21:12

Oh yes ! If I don't I got a good 6 thick jet black hairs sprouting out the side of my chin 😂 off because I am naturally blonde and very fair skinned 😴

Oh it really is isn't it. Honestly all day I could feel the coarse fucker and couldn't wait to get in and pull it out

Had electrolysis. Now have none.

DorritLittle · 25/06/2022 21:13

I get mine threaded. Best thing ever.

buffyismyaltaego · 25/06/2022 21:14

I'd be worried about doing anything other than plucking as wouldn't want to do my whole chin for fear of creating a bigger problem!!!

Mummyexpat · 25/06/2022 21:14

Yep! Started out with a couple, now at 43 I have 2 distinct patches on either side of my chin! 🙈 Probably about 20 hairs in each 😱 Luckily I’m fair and most of the hairs are too. No moles or PCOS, I think it’s definitely an age thing as female hormones decrease… I use one of those little electric shavers if I’m in a rush and then pluck when I have more time. They seem to appear out of nowhere though…go out for the day with a smooth chin then suddenly feel stubble later on! Only reason I miss masks!😷🤣

LadyRoughDiamond · 25/06/2022 21:14

Loads! I whizz over the whole chin area with an epilator every 2-3 days - feels lovely afterwards.

MrszClaus · 25/06/2022 21:15

Yep 😂 PCOS here too - several noticeable ones, but I shave it all anyway!

Signoramarella · 25/06/2022 21:15

Use small shaver device. Or get waxed.

5foot5 · 25/06/2022 21:15

No it is not weird at all.
Yes I am afraid it does get worse with age and yes you probably are destined to do more plucking. Unless someone can come on here with super advice.

It isn't a moley thing either. I don't have moles on my face but have increasingly had chin hair since my forties. When I was young I had to pluck my eyebrows regularly. However I haven't needed to do that for decades. It's as though all the hairs migrated south to the chin.

I tried one of the epillator things, painful and not very effective. Tried Nairs cream, only partially effective. I believe there is done other device or treatment you can get which costs £££s but don't know how good that is. I am resigned to patrolling the are a with tweezers on a regular basis

CosmopolitanPlease · 25/06/2022 21:16

I've got a Finishing Touch hair shaver thing that I use every few days, it's really good and doesn't seem to be making my chin hair thicker or darker as I feared it would! It's good for the white fuzzy hairs but I still like to get the few wiry black ones with my tweezers, it's more satisfying (and re growth takes longer).

buffyismyaltaego · 25/06/2022 21:16

😂 I'm genuinely going to send this thread to my friend who looked at me like I was mad earlier!!

AllHailKingLouis · 25/06/2022 21:16

Yes I have 2 that I need to pluck every few days. Both crawl out of jawline moles - fuckers

maras2 · 25/06/2022 21:17

I've never had chin hair but if I did I wouldn't think twice about plucking.
I do have a bastard rogue eyebrow that appears every so often and I pluck the bejaysus out of it.

SweetPetrichor · 25/06/2022 21:17

Chin and neck get regular maintenance, but I don’t pluck, I use one of those wee face razor things. Quick and painless!
