I was just wondering why we're not allowed to post about this case-the deletion message mentioned it was ongoing so wouldnt be fair to the family

Charlie gards case was on going and there was numerous threads about it

Anyway if this stands maybe we can discuss

Not sure if this has already been posted, but the family are making some very serious allegations about the care received

Theyve been making allegations about his care throughout the whole thing. Wherever any truth to them...be very surprised if so....

Thats the problem with the group although the posters/members whip themselves into a frenzy, the updates on his condition and the photos and hopsital updates keep it all going.

To be fair, that interview was done on the 14th.

It's possible the family have now accepted that he isn't being starved or neglected after speaking with the hospital and the court documents coming out - they clearly state he goes through periods of "gut rest" due to feeds causing more harm than benefits due to his GI issues. Not sure of the timeline though.

Has anyone watched the interview she did today on the BBC? Would be interetested to know if she's still making these (false) accusations.

IdaFlowers · 26/06/2022 15:35

The interview didn't go into too many details. She was talking about what a lovely boy he is and we saw him doing his fighting hobby. She talked about her faith and her son's faith and support they'd had from a South End church and the bible they'd received. She said she watches films about miracles with Archie. She said she was delighted they'd won the appeal (or whatever it is - can't remember)

IdaFlowers · 26/06/2022 15:37

Just read back. Must be that she'd won the chance to have an appeal

They won the right to appeal but haven't won the appeal yet.

The bible she's been gifted is from a man who was very vocal during the Alfie Evans furore (I'm trying to choose my words carefully as I don't want to get the thread pulled). This man allegedly was one of the Army members threatening staff and supposedly after Alfie's machines were removed he turned up at thr hospital with oxygen canisters in his car to try and help the family get him away. If this is indeed the same person, as is allegeded, then it is worrying that not only is he now involved with Archie's Army, he is also make overtures of friendship towards the family which goes back to the earlier points in the thread about Archie and his mum being in a vulnerable position and requiring level-headed support rather than a baying mob.

whynotwhatknot · 26/06/2022 17:15

This man doesnt sound very good for them

im all for faith if it helps but at the end of the day cold hard facts determines what happens not god

@LetsGoFlyAKiteee yes and the mum is posting that Archie has a virus and a temperature and the group are telling her they're sure it's a sign that he's trying to wake up 🤯

It's just cruel, it really is. They're also saying his hair/nail growth is a sign he isn't brain stem dead.

This seems to be a repeated trope from the army, "would a dead body be able to do xyz", not understanding the difference between someone who is brain stem dead and being mechanically kept alive, and cardiac death where all functions stop.

The thing that makes me so angry is that they will go back to their normal lives when Archie passes and completely lose interest (until the next case comes along).

ChagSameachDoreen · 26/06/2022 21:51

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think these cases are whipped up on purpose to discredit the NHS.

entropynow · 26/06/2022 22:09

@ChagSameachDoreen
Nah, there have been similar cases in the States. It's desperation versus fact

elliejjtiny · 28/06/2022 10:58

Does anyone know how Archie is now that the facebook page is private? I heard he had an infection and I was hoping that he would just pass away relatively peacefully with his family around him before all the court drama started up again.

When I say how he is, I mean I do understand that he is brain dead and that his organs are slowly failing etc but there are times when it looks like he could carry on being kept "alive" by the ventilator indefinitely and times when I think his poor body must surely give up soon.

I understand that it must be awful for his family to have to think about turning off life support. I can only hope that his heart stops beating on it's own before they are forced to make that decision against their will.

SunflowerGardens · 28/06/2022 12:05

@elliejjtiny Hollie posted an update in the night that Archie's temperature is down a bit and he seems to be stable. They haven't posted any pictures of him in days, they've had a live video but didn't show him at any point.

Maybe he is visually starting to deteriorate.

I remember before they used to post photos of him so they could chat about his good complexion and his rosy cheeks and how he looked like he was putting on weight etc and it was like they were talking about this as it was proof he was getting better and would soon wake up.

But at the same time, I know they’ve had a lot of trolls access their FB Page and then use Archie’s photos for their own reasons so this may be why videos and photos of him are no longer being posted.

Either way, it’s still such a horrible situation. I’m going to try and watch the live streaming tomorrow of the court case but I think it’s going to be very upsetting ☹️

Jott · 28/06/2022 17:16

I think the medical reports are going to be heartbreaking in how bleak a picture they'll give of his current condition and I really don't think they are going to win the appeal.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 28/06/2022 17:23

If they don't win the appeal hopefully they'll be surrounded by the right people to guide them in the right direction. Think from sounds and beliefs it'll be hard for her to just say stop and accept but sooner...

Perplexed0522 · 28/06/2022 17:25

They’ve said he’s digesting his enteral feeds now and is on the required volumes he needs (so IV fluids have been discontinued) and that he’s no longer having the chronic diarrhoea that he used to have when he was given his enteral feeds. I remember weeks ago he could even tolerate 12mls an hour before the diarrhoea would start, whereas now he can take 54mls with no problems.

It’s very confusing. Is that a sign of improvement? I don’t know?

AmaryIlis · 28/06/2022 17:30

I suspect the improved picture with feeds is simply the result of the hospital having found the right balance.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/06/2022 17:37

Perplexed0522 may I ask where this latest info has come from - the hospital or somewhere else?

It is what Hollie is saying on their FB page. I can’t imagine it’s something she would make up?

Jott · 28/06/2022 19:00

The thing is Hollie/Lisa has repeatedly accused the hospital of lying, mistreated Archie, withholding feeds/treatment, and so on. She's even claimed a member of staff told her never to leave Archie unattended/unsupervised and she's given interviews talking about a paediatric death chamber on the ward. Members of the "army" have made accusations in the group about the Alfie Evans case, that the staff secretly euthanised him while the parents had been called to a side room for a meeting with staff because it made the hospital look bad when he didn't die as soon as the machines were disconnected. There have been members who have posted warnings that hospital won't "let" Archie survive because it'll damage their reputation that Hollie/Lisa was right and the medics were wrong, family members and admins have liked these statements and/or commented on them.

If they win the appeal it'll all.escalate even further, the attitude towards the hospital staff will worsen, the online abuse towards anyone who doesn't agree with them will increase. If they lose the appeal (which I think is highly likely) then the same will happen as they'll think it's the conspiracy theory at work and the staff are wrong. I hope the hospital have got good security and a support plan ready for when the verdict is given.

The thought of this terrifies me. The fallout from tomorrow’s likely verdict will be catastrophic. I really hope that Hollie and her family have a strong support system around them that doesn’t consist of the Army.

SunflowerGardens · 28/06/2022 19:40

What happens if the appeal is lost tomorrow - can this go further or is that the end of the road?

Perplexed0522 · 28/06/2022 19:44

Is the actual verdict being given tomorrow or is it just the hearing for Hollie to plead her case and then the verdict will come a few days later?
