I was just wondering why we're not allowed to post about this case-the deletion message mentioned it was ongoing so wouldnt be fair to the family

Charlie gards case was on going and there was numerous threads about it

Anyway if this stands maybe we can discuss

I still can't understand what on Earth possessed him to do this!

More children come in with suicidal ideation or having attempted then you realise. I’ve looked after teenagers who have ‘successfully’ committed suicide. It’s horrific, and it’s imprinted on my brain. I’ve also looked after the ones who have ‘survived’, that’s also horrific and no life that anyone would want their child to have.

There is an absolute lack of mental health support for children. The bar for CAMHS is so high referrals get rejected. It’s all so desperately sad. We need more funding as nothing is going to change for these kids and as a parent I find it terrifying.

I agree with this. I don't think there is anything wrong with his mother wanting more time

There's a lot wrong with her wanting to oblige clinicians to ventilate a body in which the organs are rotting away.

whynotwhatknot · 22/06/2022 12:23

the kidney damage will mak him bloated hes not looking well his oragans are collpasing

they said the same with charlie gard his eyes were flickering so that meant he was ok and bloating aswell

ive always said if im hooked up to machines just to keep me going then turn them off i dont want to be kept like that

On the Archie's army page, a few people pointed out that it was bloating and their comments got deleted.

All parents of children who have fatal accidents or terminal illnesses want more time, but keeping a dead child breathing with machinery doesn't give that to them. When do they stop feeling rushed? They have had almost 11 weeks now.

XenoBitch · 22/06/2022 18:32

It is a very sad case. His mum is in denial, and the "army" is despicable.

AmaryIlis · 22/06/2022 18:34

Myotherusernamewastakenagain · 22/06/2022 17:12

They delete and block anything that doesn't suit their agenda. They've been banging on about the hospital's evil plan to steal his organs. Someone pointed out that that no-one will be wanting his organs now, which you might think would come as a relief to them - but of course those posts got deleted because the reason no-one is after his organs is that they wouldn't be usable for any purpose.

Jott · 22/06/2022 18:35

The army are a disgrace. His mum needs support, not whipping up by them. There have been reports of army members harassing and bullying people online including telling people they should go kill themselves, that's not the people who should be supporting a vulnerable family.

Perplexed0522 · 22/06/2022 18:43

Archie’s Army are crazy. Their stupidity knows no bounds.

I think Hollie would be in a much clearer frame of mind if she didn’t have the Army Members filling her head with all their madness.

I imagine the poor woman has lost all grip on reality. The whole thing is incredibly sad and unfair to both her and Archie.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 22/06/2022 18:51

There was a few sensible comments but guess been deleted cause seen as trolling. The stories of other cases probably don't help especially if so different. The whole they're playing god seems a bit odd seeing as he is being kept alive on machines. They want his organs blah blah

Hopefully if and when the time comes the parents will get the support from the right places. Sad that relationship with the hospital has broke down but guess hard to maintain in these circumstances

Lex345 · 22/06/2022 18:55

I definitely think there needs to be a review done, incorporating what happened with CG, AE and now AB. There has to be a better way forward, both to protect children and their parents. The support and best wishes, the empathy, absolutely they should have this in droves. But this has gone much further. Implanting false hope is truly the cruellest kind of "help". I feel genuinely sorry for Archie's parents and wider family. Terribly sad, unthinkably painful.

But I do think we need to look at how these cases are descending into what they have. And what can be put in place to stop this happening.

Jott · 22/06/2022 18:57

I think anyone who posts anything that is outside of the group rhetoric gets deleted and blocked for trolling. Some of rhe people receiving harassing comments online had asked questions about the three(?) Gofund Me accounts set up for medical costs and legal fees, basically just asking for clarification on what the money would be spent on. They were also pretty much in all out war with that Dignity For All page. It's important to note that Archie's mum wasn't sending threatening/harassing messages to people but her daughter, her daughter in law, and her recently appointed PA were which is worrying all round when what she clearly needs is some solid support outside of social media.

Exactly.

The idea that a parent of a child whose organs are rotting should be able to oblige the NHS to continue ventilating that child until some unspecified time in the future when maybe they might change their mind is as awful as it is unworkable.

Perplexed0522 · 22/06/2022 19:04

Some of rhe people receiving harassing comments online had asked questions about the three(?) Gofund Me accounts set up for medical costs and legal fees, basically just asking for clarification on what the money would be spent on.

I asked that question and one person said, “Why do you ask?”

Another person told me to click on the Go Fund me page and it would be explained there. I said I’d already done that but all the page said was that the money was being raised to help support Hollie and so I just wanted to know what the money was actually going to be spent on as there weren’t any specific details about that the ‘support’ was.

Many people ‘liked’ my comment but my post very quickly got deleted.

Honestly? I think there should be complete anonymity as there is in other areas of family court and there should be rules against anyone publically identifying the child(ren) involved. Archie has a right to his privacy and dignity, especially now, and there should be rules to protect this. How are his best interests served by photographs of him looking emaciated, unconscious, in a nappy? Or by the latest photo of him looking bloated? Or the updates about his digestion? The grief vampires in these armies get off on that shit. I'm fairly sure that no 12yr old boy would want his mates to see him like that or for that to be one of the first images Google throws up when his name is entered.

It's wrong in a way I can't properly describe.

ApplesandBunions · 22/06/2022 19:08

I actually think it would be completely fair enough if Hollie were asking for donations to cover living expenses and the like, guessing she's probably not worked much in the past couple of months and had to cover things like travel costs, parking etc which aren't usually in the budget. But she should be clear about that, both so people are aware what they're paying for and to try and protect herself from speculation.

whynotwhatknot · 22/06/2022 19:55

a fund to help her with day to day living costs is fine but if theyre not saying what its for why is that

if her family are sending threatening harrasing messages then she shold stop them theyre not helping matters

What do you need to discuss? It's an awful situation.

It's actually really interesting the dynamics of the Archie's Army group and how they are interacting with the Dignity for All page. There's a whole backstory and bullying PMs going between admin of the Archie group and commenters on DfA. And Archie's mum, who i have deep sympathy with, has said a lot of awful things about the hospital, goaded on by the Facebook page. In the midst of it all lies a ten year old who has suffered catastrophic brain damage.

Perplexed0522 · 22/06/2022 20:03

One person told me the money is being saved up so they can transfer him to a private hospital.

I mean, how on earth do they think that is logically possible?

A few members said that with regards to paying for his treatments privately (following his transfer to a private hospital) they’re sure it could be afforded if “everyone chipped in.”

They’re just ridiculous but the terrifying thing is that they all seem to actually believe what they’re saying.

Willyoujustbequiet · 22/06/2022 20:03

Absolutely tragic case. No one is in a position to pass judgement. The poor woman.

orwellwasright · 22/06/2022 20:05

I know where you're coming from but the principle of open justice is really important and in fact there are calls for family courts to be open and I personally think that's right.

What we don't need is vultures like the 'armies' and to counter that we need education and a more responsible media, not less scrutiny.

I have seen that too. The Dignity for All page seems er... dignified. Archies Army keep going on about trolls and not retaliating... when several of their members have been sending vile PMs to members of the other page.
An admin on Archies Army even said to stop such behaviour, and there were people saying it is ok as they were defending Archie. It blows my mind tbh

Hollie now saying Archies has blood flow to his brain, and is gaining weight and healthy (more likely bloating from organ failure).

There will come a time when his heart just says no more and his family will be witness to all the trauma that comes with it, instead of a dignified goodbye if life support was removed.

I don't even know if she would. The loudest and most vicious of the army are members of her own family who stood with her in court. If you don't have any sensible family or friends to have a talk with and you don't like or trust the medical staff, or the judge, who's left to talk common sense into you? Phil and Holly?

I dont think legally they can even move him can they and a private hospital doesnt have the same facilities anyway
