Winner's podium of an 'inclusive' 'women's' cycling race.
Biological woman is third.

How about genetic female sports

Acknowledgement of genetics has already been referred to elsewhere as 'chromosomal fundamentalism' i.e. trying to paint women's fair sports as some kind of bloody fundamentalist terrorism that acts against those 'most vulnerable' brick shithouses known to humanity.

THAT'S what I'm sick of actually, @Peoniesandpeaches. To the fucking back teeth.

jacintaq · 04/06/2022 15:43

Non-binary people whose physical performance aligns with cis-women
Trans men and women whose physical performance aligns most closely with cis-women

That's rather vague isn't it. How on earth would you begin to work that out and compare. I don't see how it could be done fairly.

SingingSands · 04/06/2022 15:33

Jo Smith has shared this on her Instagram stories.
It was an inclusive event and she was proud to be part of it.
Maybe that's one solution: inclusive racing for those who want to compete under their chosen gender, and traditional sex-separated racing? Or would that be too divisive? Oof, it fries my brain sometimes.

Pretty big drip feed there, any reason you elected to remove all context OP? 🤔

ventreàterre · 04/06/2022 15:55

It's infuriatingly unfair.

The only excuse I see is that, "Well, sport is never fair, is it? Because some people are taller, stronger, shorter, whatever gives the advantage in their particular sport." 🙄As someone who was never particularly sporty and doesn't really give a damn about sport, I have no skin in the game, but in that case, why have "women's" sport at all? Let everyone compete together, and then it will be clearly obvious who the first-place woman really is. Doesn't work so well for team events, of course...

Maybe it's time for sport to divide along lines of "biological male" and "biological female" instead of "men" and "women".

jacintaq · 04/06/2022 14:47

the initial reaction is “oh that’s a mixed sex race”."

It certainly looked like a mixed sex race!

That's because it is a mixed sex race!

Regardless of a person's belief in Gender Ideology and how they wish to self identify, male bodies should not be in female sports categories. It is simply not fair.

A woman reaching the podium in an 'open' category is great. Two men taking 1st and 2nd places in a so called women's race is not.

jacintaq · 04/06/2022 16:06

Yes, you're right @NancyDrawed

SpindleForTheWorld · 04/06/2022 16:07

I don't really care what 'hostage statements' are out there from women (or men) who have bought into this shit or been pressured to buy into this shit.

It's still men cheating.

RadiantFem · 04/06/2022 16:08

Depressing, misogyny :(
The first two look like they’re gloating at the third ones expense. What pride can these people possibly take in beating natal women in women’s sports?
Maybe I’m being cynical but it looks as if the thing they’re really proud of is ruining women’s sport rather than the “accomplishment” itself. I thought things like doping were banned in sport because of the physical enhancements and advantages of certain drugs.
Why don’t people see this in the same way?

Basketet · 04/06/2022 16:08

Classic case of gaslighting and how narcs always win. Angry

WomenShouldWinWomensSports · 04/06/2022 16:11

As a photo without context I fully agree it's terrible.

The problem of how to make everyone feel like they have a fair chance in sport is thorny and I do believe it's ridiculous women had fairer sports for all of two minutes between, when I was a child in the 90s, wanting to be a footballer when I grew up until I found out there was no point as a girl. It was more of a hobby and would never be a full-time job. Then the Lionesses had such amazing success around 2019 and it looked like everything was on the up. Now more things like that have happened, average men can suddenly mysteriously identify into women's sports to get a trophy.

But this race was intentional, by the looks of it.

With the context in the Instagram story, I feel like a specific trans-inclusive event has been co-opted to suit a narrative. The woman in question knowingly entered into an "inclusive" race and ranked third. We don't know if she beat any male participants.

The deeper issue, then, is challenging the sad underlying fact that so many women feel the need to make themselves smaller to accommodate the "needs" of men.

:-(

itsgettingweird · 04/06/2022 16:15

Why they can't just have a 3rd category for identity athletes I don't know.

They manage to have para sports for those who are men or woman with a disability. They manage to categorise them dependent on their level of ability for that sport.

But to expect woman to compete with identity athletes is unfair.

The same way they don't expect woman to compete against male para athletes.

My ds is a swimmer. S9 classification.

Despite his disability meaning that over 50m he's expected to be 3 seconds behind boys/ men his age (6 for 100 etc) he will still beat woman of his age group currently and equal woman at elite level.

In swimming 0.1 second is a lot so that means he could beat them.

SameSkyDifferentPlanet · 04/06/2022 16:16

Get out of the pool,
Take off that strip,
Pick up your ball,
Go Home!

Get off the court,
Leave the Green,
Put down the kit,
Go alone!

Here’s a ‘man’ to take your place,
So victory will be easy,
Whats with the all tears, the frustration and the fury?
What? You actually believed you were being taken seriously?

Go home. Go alone. Go now.
Theres a dearie.

TreeP0se · 04/06/2022 16:18

What a picture. Numbers one and two look so celebratory and not all embarrassed.

Awful behaviour

WifeMotherWorkRepeat · 04/06/2022 16:21

Madness gone mad!!
This shouldn’t be either celebrated or applauded, it’s backward. Huge congratulations to the woman that came 3rd, she is the true winner!

She has to say that otherwise she knows its going to be death threats and hate mail for ever.

phoneybaloney · 04/06/2022 16:23

This is awful.

ChanceNorman · 04/06/2022 16:25

That's what we girlies do, isn't it? Kiss each other all the time, giggle, and compare our nipple colours?

You forgot pillow fights. And asking strangers in the ladies for advice on tampons.

mathanxiety · 04/06/2022 16:31

We should take heart in pictures like that.

It's one thing to agree with something in principle but it's another thing entirely to see it playing out in reality.

bloodyunicorns · 04/06/2022 16:34

Yuk.

mathanxiety · 04/06/2022 16:40

@WomenShouldWinWomensSports, maybe Jo Smith was playing a deeper game.

This is what putting the photo up there would indicate to me.

I think that photo is very subversive of the currently acceptable narrative.

A picture speaks a thousand words.

OriginalFloorboards · 04/06/2022 16:43

They should be embarrassed to stand on those podiums. Glad this is on the ‘front’ page (as a PP was complaining!). Too right. I see the poll says it all and shows how ludicrous the world is becoming.

Iheartmysmart · 04/06/2022 16:44

This pretty much sums up why there is a huge issue with girls taking up sport in school. What’s the fucking point. They’ll always get beaten by a man who didn’t have what it takes to compete against other men.

Ohhhhladz · 04/06/2022 16:48

Peoniesandpeaches · 04/06/2022 14:40

And where is your AIBU? If there is no question or poll why couldn’t you post this on the feminism board? I’m really sick of all this crap being on the front page.

At least 450 people so far have figured out what the AIBU is and voted, so I guess it's in there somewhere.

Are you going to go through all the AIBU posts and banish them off to the subject boards? I def saw a baby names one, a beauty & style one, and several relationship ones, just from a quick glance. Or does this kind of subject matter bother you for some particular reason?
