Did ye aye?

Why do people post this? If you don’t believe a poster, report them. Troll hunting is tedious for everyone. It is as tedious as posters who fancy themselves as a trainee Miss Marple. Cross examining the OP to an absurd degree to try and pick holes in their post. People have the option to report and should leave it at that.

OP posts:

I disagree. Trolls should know that people aren't taken in so hopefully fewer will keep posting.

Womencanlift · 31/05/2022 09:24

“Did ye aye” is just the written form of 🙄. I wouldn’t class it as troll hunting

I do agree picking holes or worse still looking back at poster’s previous posts to find inconsistencies is tedious

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 31/05/2022 09:25

Chinny reckon...

yesthatisdrizzle · 31/05/2022 09:29

I've seen it quite a few times and thought that it's pretty much the same as saying 'pants on fire'.

CreamyBruley · 31/05/2022 09:43

The Mumsnet attitude of troll hunters being worse than trolls has massively contributed to its decline. The vast majority of threads are very obviously trolling bollocks.

EveryName · 31/05/2022 20:22

I agree. Just report it.

watcherintherye · 31/05/2022 20:26

It is a kind of troll hunting, though. ‘Did ye, aye?’ is the Scottish equivalent of ‘Yeah, right’, expressing disbelief.

SpindleSheWrote · 31/05/2022 20:29

I always imagine Kevin Bridges saying it and it makes me smile.

Random789 · 31/05/2022 20:29

"Did ye aye" is great. I'd love it if this thread became a catalogue of all the different regional ways of communicating this sentiment.
So far we have did ye aye, chinny reckon, yeah right and pants on fire. Any more?

LampLighter414 · 31/05/2022 20:30

Trolls are worse than hunters but for some reason this site doesn’t seem to agree

EveryName · 31/05/2022 20:35

Trolls are awful but troll hunters are tedious too.

TBH I find all the posters who egg on obvious trolls equally tedious too. I don't know if they are stupid or whether they know it's a troll but enjoy the 'story'

I think half the threads in 'classics' are by trolls.

Toottooot · 31/05/2022 20:36

Bet yi didnae

honeyytoast · 31/05/2022 20:37

I find it funny

CuriousCatfish · 31/05/2022 20:37

People who start threads whinging about troll hunting are usually trolls. Just sayin'

PAFMO · 31/05/2022 20:41

GreenWheat · 31/05/2022 09:24

I disagree. Trolls should know that people aren't taken in so hopefully fewer will keep posting.

We live in hope.
But then we get the idiot troll defenders so more and more of them come.

What is it you like about trolls @Flymetothezoom ?
The scammers?
The ones who invent dead children?
Or do you just like to help the creative writers with their haikus?

WatermelonSugarEye · 31/05/2022 20:42

"Picture or it didn't happen" is annoying too.

PurpleButterflyWings · 31/05/2022 20:43

Some threads are clearly utter bullshit though. Creative writers, and attention seeking people with too much time on their hands. OR a man pretending to be a woman, posting sleazy, pervy stuff for kicks. You can spot them a mile off. I always WANT to say 'bullshit, liar troll!!!' but I know MN disapproves, so I just say nothing - or put Biscuit and wait for the deletion message.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with saying 'yeah right! What a load of shit!'

OvOvO · 31/05/2022 20:43

🤷‍♂️🧐👀🤔🤔🤥😵‍💫😵💩

CuriousCatfish · 31/05/2022 20:43

What about 'chinny reckon' ?

GordonBennetttt · 31/05/2022 20:44

Ohh it's a bit of fun. Do you always take minor things in life so seriously?

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/05/2022 20:45

My favourite.

“Sure, Jan…”

In my circle at least!

Trolls are still the most tedious.

Is there a particular thread you've seen this posted on of late where it's been an issue?

And actually the "Miss Marples" who piece together previous threads to show the OP is a troll (married today, single yesterday, dead mum last time, abusive mum this time) should at least have an MBE.

VodselForDinner · 31/05/2022 20:48

I might start using the Irish version-

“You did in your hole”.
