Did ye aye?

Why do people post this? If you don’t believe a poster, report them. Troll hunting is tedious for everyone. It is as tedious as posters who fancy themselves as a trainee Miss Marple. Cross examining the OP to an absurd degree to try and pick holes in their post. People have the option to report and should leave it at that.

Itchy belm.

That was another version of chinny reckon, where I lived.

"Did ye aye" is great. I'd love it if this thread became a catalogue of all the different regional ways of communicating this sentiment.
So far we have did ye aye, chinny reckon, yeah right and pants on fire. Any more?

We used to say Jimmy Hill which I suppose is a variation of chinny reckon.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 31/05/2022 21:39

Cool story, bro.

Flymetothezoom · 31/05/2022 21:40

@StoneofDestiny I know what it means. There are many variations:

and then everybody clapped
this is better than Enid Blyton
this is unbelievable, I mean literally unbelievable
hmm ok OP
are you feeling ok OP?
you certainly have a flair for creative writing/fiction
I smell bullshit/fish
of course you did
etc.. feel free to add more

“Did ye aye” is just the written form of 🙄. I wouldn’t class it as troll hunting

But the silly Hmm face and its variations ARE a form of troll hunting - for people who want to show off how clever they are for spotting a (very obvious) troll, but don’t want their post deleted.

I agree, OP - it’s tedious.

Flymetothezoom · 31/05/2022 21:42

The point I am making is that they are all tedious and unnecessary. Just report and move on.

OP posts:
ShirleyPhallus · 31/05/2022 21:43

I quite like a bit of troll hunting. Because the number of naive posters who think that there are legit threads on wetting yourself / pooing yourself / asking for genuine tales of masturbation etc etc is quite shocking.

MNHQ rarely delete them that quickly so i think it’s good to have a bit of a clue on those threads!

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 31/05/2022 21:44

So where do the troll defenders stand on the scammers and the dead and dying fake children? @Flymetothezoom

Those could just be reported too, @PAFMO - just as the OP said. But you keep on virtue signalling.

@ShirleyPhallus wow you really think you are helping and that you are more astute than all the other MN users.

Same. It’s a polite way of saying stop talking shit

Flymetothezoom · 31/05/2022 21:46

@FayeFife I will do as I please. Now finish your homework and go to bed.

I hate people who report posts, whether they’re fake or not

I mean when something is clearly bollocks, it’s human nature to point it out.Grin

Agreed, through no fault of their own MNHQ have been a bit overworked and therefore slow with deletions lately.

Happylittlethoughts · 31/05/2022 21:57

I think this an anti-scottish troll 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 just sayin

My favourite.

This is what I think about 95% of posts on MN. I refuse to accept some of the bullshit shit shows people find themselves in.

How on earth do you know who has reported a post or not, unless you work at MNHQ?!

not all, but some. I see it as my sense of duty to the idiots on the internet. <preens>

Justanotherlurker · 31/05/2022 22:04

and then everybody clapped

Thats a recent meme, and does have kind of a different meaning to just questioning the validity, it was birthed from multiple social media posts virtue signalling.

It has it's place and should be used more on MN for some of the obvious posts but it is slightly different in context IMO

janeseymour78 · 31/05/2022 22:06

This phrase is a core part of the Scottish zeitgeist 😂 it's just a bit of fun.

TickTickTock · 31/05/2022 22:08

I'm not sure if I'm just a bit naive and gullible, but I've never seen a post which I've thought must be made up. What kind of things do people post and why? Why would someone make up a dead child? For what end result?? Confused!
