Supposed to be having lunch with a few friends from work. One has just messaged me and said she has lost her bank card so if she transfers money can I withdraw it as cash.
I'm really not happy she's put me on this situation.

OP posts:

If anything, she's putting her trust in you. That you will withdraw her money after she sends it to you in good faith!

Good point. It’s beyond me why anyone would think twice about it.
Livelovebehappy · 10/04/2022 14:44

The only thing I can see that she did wrong was choose the wrong friend to ask for help. Sounds like she mis-judged you and thought you were more of a friend than you actually are. I would have helped her out no problem.

bluebaul · 10/04/2022 14:49

People can't wait to shout 'scam' without actually thinking logically about the situation.

Same people probably turning their electric off for ten mins later Confused

viques · 10/04/2022 15:08

@Starrylight

Tell her she's being absolutely unreasonable and should either not come out, or print her own money instead...
Exactly, can’t she go down to the beach and find a few cowrie shells, or get some eggs to barter with the restaurant. If push comes to shove she could have sex with a random man and make sure he pays her in cash.

Honestly, fancy thinking round the issue in a sensible 21st century way using modern technology like bank transfers and cash machines. Ridiculous woman.

Fruby · 10/04/2022 15:10

I wouldn’t even class this as a small friendly favour. It’s literally nothing, just a v normal request as part of a normal life where you know people.

Can’t actually believe someone wouldn’t want to do this!

Blossomtoes · 10/04/2022 15:12

I guess OP’s mind would be blown right out of her head if her friend had suggested she pay her share of the bill for her on the proviso she transferred the money straight away - which would be my preferred option.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/04/2022 15:12

Course I would do this

She’s apparently your friend as you are having lunch with her

You don’t sound like a nice friend tbh

funinthesun19 · 10/04/2022 15:17

Also, I can't imagine anyone in this day and age not having a credit card to use in emergencies.

You think everyone has a credit card ready and available to whip out for emergencies?
Not everyone can even get one even if they wanted one.

AuntMargo · 10/04/2022 15:18

You misery, hope you never need a favour !!

drpet49 · 10/04/2022 15:19

I’m surprised the OP even has any friends with her horrible attitude.

L0stinCyberspace · 10/04/2022 15:19

You say you're friends? Confused

ConsuelaHammock · 10/04/2022 15:21

I’d do it for a friend.

Tabitha789 · 10/04/2022 15:23

Why you so moody about it! She's asking for help from you!!

Crankley · 10/04/2022 15:24

Your definition of a friend is vastly different to mine. Why would you not do this? I wouldn't give it a second thought.

TheMarvelousMrsMaisel · 10/04/2022 15:27

I don't see the problem personally it's not like she's asking you to pay or you'll occur any fees. Some friend you are.

boringperson123 · 10/04/2022 15:31

You seem selfish, I wouldn’t even think twice about it

GreyCarpet · 10/04/2022 15:32

Just thought it was an odd request from a grown woman to have lost her bank card (whilst out drinking last night)

Loving the parenthesis...

I can't imagine how or the reason for losing her card would make any difference. Why yhe judgement..?

Are there worthy and unworthy reasons for losing your card?

Lovemusic33 · 10/04/2022 15:41

People lose their cards all the time, not sure why you find it odd.
DreamingofTimbuktu · 10/04/2022 15:41

You are being very judgemental and clearly aren’t her friend. Hopefully she’ll ask somehow with a nicer attitude

SpiderVersed · 10/04/2022 15:42

What a petty, judgey OP!

First you begrudge her a tiny favour, then you imply she’s a pisshead because she lost her bank card.

I hope the rest of her friends are kinder.

Judgy and a meanie
TreatTrimTame · 10/04/2022 15:46

You're not very nice.

RiskyCookie · 10/04/2022 15:49

Only thing odd here is your reaction to this perfectly reasonable question.

Hmm
Cervinia · 10/04/2022 15:54

If she isn't known for being a CF with no history of cadging then I don't see the issue. Just make sure she transfers you before you take any cash out.

Apple Pay or Android Pay not a possibility? My DC never even take a card out with them.
