I wonder how Leave voters feel about P&O Ferries.

I know many people voted one way or the other for different reasons, but those who were concerned about immigration 'swallowing jobs' or driving wages down.......how do they feel about this recent story?

Do they not feel lied to?

Some posters remind me of that line from Shirley Valentine "if you've got a headache, she's got a brain tumour"

BambinaJAS · 26/03/2022 18:47

Nationalism allows you to feel like you have accomplished something, without having any real accomplishments of your own.

Thats Brexiters in a nutshell.

TebayOrNotTebay · 26/03/2022 18:56

I'll never be poor in my lifetime

Plenty of people will be (and some already are) poorer as a result of Brexit. I'm guessing you don't care. Classy stuff.

Polyanthus2 · 26/03/2022 19:02

No I don't care unless I know them personally.
Some people are poorer due to illness or disability or a lot of other problems - maybe you should worry about them.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 26/03/2022 19:45

I have more advanced degrees than your entire household put together (four)

I have a far superior understanding of this than you do (or ever will).

Hilarious.

I know. This poster’s lack of self-awareness, nonsensical attempts at insults and meaningless rantings are amazing. There clearly wasn’t a module on irony in all of those qualifications.
BambinaJAS · 27/03/2022 13:13

I mostly laugh at how obtuse you folks are.

Keep trying to deflect from your immense lack of accountability for a vote you made.

You are going to have to explain to the 1.5 MILLION british people that are about to be thrust into absolute poverty why you are "not responsible".

I take it back. It's not funny. I really have nothing but contempt for folks like you.

Florenz · 27/03/2022 13:30

Plenty of people were made poorer by us being in the EU, look at how wages in the building trade, lorry drivers etc have increased. At the end of the day, being the EU was beneficial to some people (mainly the wealthy and highly educated) and a negative to other people (mainly normal people, without "advanced degrees") and for once, the normal people won.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 27/03/2022 16:24

I really have nothing but contempt for folks like you.

And we're supposed to care about that for what reason? In my case you need to join a long queue of people who have contempt for me.

Itloggedmeoutagain · 27/03/2022 16:27

Not really sure what you're getting at, not sure what your point is.
This has nothing to do with Brexit

Kendodd · 27/03/2022 18:16

and for once, the normal people won

Your having a laugh surely if you think Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Farage and even fucking Putin are on the side of ordinary working people in the UK.
Besides, personally I think the poverty that (even more) people are going to be sucked into is secondary to the damage Brexit has inflicted on NI. Not that I expect Leave voters to care, I've yet to meet one of you that gives a single shiny shit about the peace in NI.

I don’t think the “normal “ people in NI will think they have won ?

44% voted to leave in NI so this narrative that wicked English voters are to blame is only partially true - it's not as if there was zero support for it in NI.

The 44% will be the population of NI who will be deemed as thick and uneducated I imagine (along with the 56% over here)..🤦‍♀️

Did NI not get sent a copy of the government Remain leaflet that was sent out to everyone at huge cost? oh wait I forgot, NI wasn't even mentioned in it!

DdraigGoch · 27/03/2022 19:42

I'm becoming of the view that Bambina must be a fifth columnist working for the Leave campaign who is attempting to encourage people to continue supporting leave by making Remain voters look like the sort of awful snobs you'd cross the street to avoid. There can be no other explanation for someone behaving quite so rudely.

"You peasants are thick and uneducated and should do as you're told by superior people like myself..."

I suppose that those four "advanced degrees" didn't include modules of diplomacy.

I will tell you something I learned over the last 5 years.

You cannot fix stupudity. No matter how hard you try.

And that is what we are dealing with in the UK.

So the only way out...is misery on a large scale. A massive fall in living standards and poverty is the only real way those folks will ever change their minds.

Nothing I say or do will dent their thinking.

I have resigned myself to this. What resources I have will go to helping disabled people and animal sanctuaries. They do not deserve the pain that is coming.

Leavers like you are comedy gold.

Its like watching an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies.

You might as well try to explain how a cell phone works to a cave man. Total waste of energy.

I note that the UK will be banning the import of foie gras. The first European nation to do so. The EU hasn't done anything to abolish this cruel practice, and member states can only stop domestic production, they can't do anything about imports.

Davros · 28/03/2022 00:13

@ChiswickFlo has made the connection to Brexit quite clear but I'm afraid ops connection to Brexit was tenuous.
