I’ve so so many friends that have these now and really do feel I’m the odd one out
Friends all between 30-45 and look amazing! I’ve got to admit I’m very tempted but a bit nervous and also Ttc one last time, so unsure if it’s safe to do if Ttc???
and should I wait! I’m 40 early next year so was thinking about maybe then!
So how many have tried /or already do it? What’s your thoughts? Good?

I agree lots of my peers have had these procedures. On paper I know it would improve the look of my face but there is no way I am paying my hard earned cash for something I can't see myself! Grin

Also I look at Hollywood stars who have millions and look pretty rough from fillers etc and figure long term it must be a mug's game as over time it is bound to start looking ropey. I think the longer you have it done the worse it gets - imo.

MissDynamite23 · 13/03/2022 06:37

I know a few people who have had Botox but not fillers. All in early 40s. I haven’t as I’ve either been ttc, pregnant or breastfeeding. I do plan to look into fillers once I stop feeding though. I have awful sunken bags and dark circles and I just don’t want to look that this. I’m happy to look like me/my age but I hate this haggard exhausted vibe that my hollowed eyes give. I’m 41.

Swearwolf · 13/03/2022 06:46

Where do you all live? I'm late 30s, with friends between my age and 50s I guess, and I don't know anyone who has had either!

RealRaymondReddington · 13/03/2022 06:50

I think they look awful, you can always tell too. I also find it odd that people are willing to do that to their bodies just for the feeling of looking a little younger. I don't know many people that have had it in my friendship group/family.

Scianel · 13/03/2022 06:51

I've started to notice more women in films and series with untampered faces now. Frown lines are back!

User0610134049 · 13/03/2022 06:56

I’m finding it really depressing that it feels like it’s becoming mainstream, because it feels like then the expectation of ageing is going to change and if you don’t have it you’ll look older than those around you the same age. 😖

Gingembre · 13/03/2022 07:02

I got Botox for the first time about 8 months ago. I did it because I was having awful migraines that impacted my eyes (coming down forehead into eye sockets) and was told it could help. Eventually I did it. I think it's called "mini-Botox" - it's centre of forehead and above eyebrows. I've kind of given up on how I look, don't wear makeup etc so there was nothing "beauty" related about it. It's REALLY helped the migraine pain, but I have also noticed that it's started to change how I feel about how I look. I also noticed that I've started to look at the lines on my face and where else they could be "relaxed". I can see how easy it is to increase the Botox area, then add fillers etc. I'm sticking to the area I've got.

Now that I know what it looks like on me, I've also noticed it on lots more women.

I go to a plastic surgeon for it - I was very careful about who I selected. And it didn't cost much more.

I know fillers can be removed, but the botox effect wears off over time. So if you don't like it, you just have to wait and it'll go back to normal itself. So I think if you go to someone pretty qualified, it's almost entirely risk free.

glowingcandle · 13/03/2022 07:02

I wouldn't say normal, but it's definitely increasingly common. I think it's really sad and I wish we could just accept that ageing is a natural part of life! I'm mid thirties and haven't had any botox/fillers, I wouldn't rule it out but hoping to avoid. But we shall see.

Ylvamoon · 13/03/2022 07:10

I know people who have had botox... most look amazing that's a fact.
I also think it's becoming more mainstream and it will have a huge impact on how we are looking at aging in the future.

Personally it's not for me...

15MinutesOlder · 13/03/2022 07:11

Exactly this

If you look after your skin in the long run you will look fabulous and they will look like they’re desperately trying to cling onto their youth.

gasoline · 13/03/2022 07:16

Agree more mainstream with random
People on social media offering deals on a few jabs in your face for £x

My concern is that these people and there seem to be lots of them, will look and be judgey of me for not having it.

I look my age and have wrinkles in the expected places for early 40's and this is a significant different look to the shiny smooth forehead brigade

Do the Botox crew judge people with wrinkles? Like want to say to the wrinkling people oh hey you should do this?!

blockbustervideo · 13/03/2022 07:16

I get regular Botox but no need for filler yet, maybe in a couple of years.

Jinglebellsoncake · 13/03/2022 07:17

If it's done well. It is undetectable.
If you can tell that have had Botox/fillers, then it's done poorly

It is safe to have done while TTC. But contraindicated once you become pregnant. The likelihood is that it would be fine in pregnancy, but it hasn't ever been tested on pregnant women (obviously) so it isn't worth taking the risk.

Go to a medical professional with a good reputation and enjoy a smoother face 😁

Againstmachine · 13/03/2022 07:17

Hope not, unless it's for medical reasons, injecting crap into your face isn't a good idea.

BobbinHood · 13/03/2022 07:22

I had Botox once but haven’t had it again. I don’t think I’d fully realised how much I move my eyebrows and once they were a bit restricted I felt like I just didn’t look like myself. No one else really noticed but I feel I look a bit off in photos from that time, and having a wrinkle free shiny forehead didn’t make up for it. However, I have friends who’ve had Botox and look fantastic.

Fillers are a slippery slope though and you can quickly end up looking very, very strange.

I think it’s quite common now, my cousin has botox but she can still express herself, so she doesn’t look like a creepy doll with an unmoving face.

I have a little filler in my nose due to an injury, when I’ve had it my nose just goes back to being symmetrical. Lip filler looks odd, I have a colleague who is convinced her filler looks natural and not like duck lips etc, it doesn’t looks natural at all and some of the protuding area is face skin, rather than lip, they also look very odd as the skin on her lips looks very smooth/too tight.

OddBoots · 13/03/2022 07:23

I am aiming to wear my lines and wrinkles as a sign that I have no time for anyone who judges me for how I look.

When I see that attitude in women I know it is powerful, I am hoping I will have the strength to carry myself in that way too.

JanisMoplin · 13/03/2022 07:30

I am 50, have never had it and never will. As far as I know, none of my friends or family have had it.

Georgeskitchen · 13/03/2022 07:33

If you compare pictures of famous women in their 60s , 70s or even 80s , ones who have had a lot of work done versus those who haven't, the ones who haven't generally look far more attractive!!

The problem is obviously the upkeep costs but mainly what will a face that’s been pumped with Botox look like after 10/20 years? I don’t think it’ll be good! The best thing is to work the facial muscles (this is also free!) rather than pay to have them constantly relaxed. Eventually they’ll get so slack you have to have more Botox to stop looking like your face is sliding away. That’s a never for me.

RobotValkyrie · 13/03/2022 08:03

Agree it must depends on where you live. Mums at the school gate in my small town all look normal.

But I guess it might be more prevalent in places where women doll themselves up all the time. E.g. on the tube in London, I can always see lots of women with elaborate full make-up. And lots of premature lines too, near the mouth and around the eyes (being in London ages people prematurely, I guess? I reckon stress and pollution play a part). I imagine Botox and fillers must be in fashion there too.

Whereas people round where I live tend to go for a no-fuss, low maintenance natural look. Different priorities re: quality of life.
Very few fat people, though, so it's not like people "let themselves go". But very different lifestyles (closer to nature/outdoors) compared to city life.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 13/03/2022 08:08

It's safe to do while TTC... do it and make the most of it because once you're pregnant or breastfeeding you can't 😩 (counting the days until little one is out and I can restore my face 😂)

megletthesecond · 13/03/2022 08:10

I'm noticing more young 25/30ish women with their lips done badly.
