Yes, indeed @Mocara

I haven’t looked at the plans, but how deep does the underground bit go?

Mocara · 11/03/2022 22:09

@Giviningup

I always say "down south", southern Ireland, south of Ireland...... I am from Northern Ireland and that is just what I and most people I know say.
NOPE 🤔
Mocara · 11/03/2022 22:11
@CyranoCyrano

It is really not. That is the only way I have ever known it and everybody I know say the same. There is no offence intended. It is literally just how we know it.
Then get educatred and stop causing offence ,simples 🙂

BeeLady15 · 11/03/2022 22:11

I haven’t read the whole thread but the official name of this country is Ireland or Éire in our language. Not Southern Ireland, not the Republic of Ireland, not the Irish Republic. Anything else is disrespectful. Making a mistake is fine, but when the right name is pointed out and someone still refuses to use it it is an issue.

Mocara · 11/03/2022 22:13

@Figrollface

Downnative you're not from Ireland and really don't have any insight into anything about the people or place so please stop trying to force your bigotry as fact. It's quiet ironic that on a thread like this you don't realise how similar your mindset is to Putin. You are deluded and refuse to call another country by its actual name instead you use a term harking back to a time when the said country was ruled by an oppressive neighbour!
👏👏👏
Mocara · 11/03/2022 22:18

@Figrollface

Downnative I won't be engaging with you further as all you can comprehend is the bigotry you were reared on. Imagine thinking it's ok to dictate to another country which you're not part of what it's real names are. Your sectarian opinions are not welcome in any part of the island of Ireland.
Here here 😁
OchonAgusOchonOh · 11/03/2022 22:18

@Mocara - If an athlete wins something there GB if they loose there northern Irish

To be fair to them they don't discriminate. They lay claim to successful people from both sides of the border.

Mocara · 11/03/2022 22:21

@JaneJeffer

Shh *@Mocara* we've moved on
You never move on hence the ignorant thread 🤔

Not sure who that comment is directed at?
@OchonAgusOchonOh i wish I had the balls to get in touch! Do t know them well enough unfortunately.

But it was the strangest thing; this person was the loveliest; so kind, chatty, and a consummate professional - so it was an eye opener to say the least!
Lol I don't know if you read them, but that actually sounds like something out of Ross o Carroll Kelly.

The Russian Embassy may try get past the Government, but they'll never get past the wrath of the mighty residents associations of leafy South Dublin suburbs. Grin.

Coincidentally, Putin himself actually made an appearance in the latest volume ( Normal Sheeple). As the books have gone on , they've evolved into having a much wider satirical scope.
Seriously though , it would give one pause for thought as to what was the need for the structure, and why is there so many staff.

@PicsInRed

This odd "Southern Ireland" business was quite the masterful derail of a Russia thread wasn't it?

It's not the first derail of it's kind since the invasion and I expect we'll see more of this in the months and years to come.

Hmm 10 pages later and I’m thinking the absolute same
longwayoff · 12/03/2022 06:25

Definitely. Just wandered into this thread to see how the Ireland derail is going. Very successfully. Putin? Who he?

The plan for next week is instead of just lighting up green for Paddys day, blue and yellow will also feature.

I always say "down south" correct.
southern Ireland incorrect unless travelling to Cork/jKetty.
I am from Northern Ireland and that is just what I and most people I know say.
I lived in NI for years and often heard the Republic described as down south "Are ye heading down south" or "what's the random question like down south" but never Southern Ireland, usually the free state or Republic.

Back to the bunker - Russian interest in Ireland is scary, I'll head back to NI. Wink

JaneJeffer · 12/03/2022 15:30

Apparently they want Ireland to apologise for the damage to the embassy gates.

Moyny · 12/03/2022 16:16

Do we know anyone in the string section of the RTE symphony orchestra, who could get them down to the gates, preferably dressed in blue and yellow, to play tiny, tiny violins?
Lurking9to5 · 12/03/2022 16:20

It was one citizen, and he was arrested. What do they want? That he go to jail for 15 years?
