How much do you spend on beauty treatments?

Not an AIBU but I’m curious. How much do you ladies spend on beauty products a year? Including makeup, skincare, hair cuts/products, beauty treatments like facials, nails, waxing, Botox etc.

Wouldn’t have a clue on makeup, hair care etc.
But I have my hair done every 8 weeks at £85
Lashes every 3 weeks £30 for infills
Nails every 3 weeks £25
Toenails every 6 weeks £18
Reflexology every 4 weeks £35
Facial every 4 weeks £45

FluffyBooBoo · 05/03/2022 07:31

Almost definitely under £100

FluffyBooBoo · 05/03/2022 07:32

How much do you spend, op?

N4ish · 05/03/2022 07:32

About £100 a year I’d say, I’m very low maintenance!

KindlyKanga · 05/03/2022 07:33

Yes how much do you spend?

KittyBurrito · 05/03/2022 07:33

Hair every 6 weeks at £45 a time. Cleanser maybe £20 a year (Superdrug). The Ordinary skincare maybe £30 a year. Make up I spend more now am menopausal - By Terry maybe £150 a year? Lush Henna maybe £30 a year. I think I'm pretty low maintenance apart from high end make up (anything else just sits in lines now and looks awful).

crosbystillsandmash · 05/03/2022 07:35

I don't get my haircut, it's long with a thick blunt fringe that I cut myself!
Make-up/skincare - very little, I love Aldi for skincare & my make up is a mixture of primark & Superdrug's own brand.

My only regular expense is my nails, I have them done every 3 weeks and it costs £27

User76745333 · 05/03/2022 07:36

I’m a high earner and in my late 40s. I have a fairly glamorous look on a daily basis. Full make up.

Hair £110 every 3 months
Botox £150 every six months
Beauty advent calendar £40ish m&s
Olaplex 2 for home use - £150 a year
Foundation £30 every six months
Liquid gold £50

To be honest that sees me through. I don’t think my make up supply will ever run out completely. By the time you get to late 40s you tend to have acquired loads. I’m now just trying to work through it and not buy any more unless essential.

MakeItRain · 05/03/2022 07:37

I only rarely buy any make up or beauty products. I do get my hair cut and coloured but only twice a year. So maybe 150 - 200.

Kiwiinparis · 05/03/2022 07:37

Interesting answers! Skincare is my absolute weakness (Murad…IYKYK). Probably spend 400-500 a year on a range of products. Vitamin C serums, retinol, cleansers, sunscreen, moisturiser etc…

I’m not a big makeup junkie and only use a few products but I do splurge on more expensive brands like Estée Lauder, Mac etc. I usually buy foundation, eye liner, mascara and a brow pencil every year.

I am still trying to justify lash extensions, brows, regular facials and massages to myself. Grin my husband and I have constantly been saving the last ten years for various holidays, our wedding, our dog and now a house so we’ve never had the disposable income to afford this. Trying to plan what treatments are most worth it now that we have more wiggle room in our fun money each month

Hair done every 6 - 8 weeks £50
Gel nails every 3 weeks £25
Pedicure 2 x per year £30
Deep tissue massage (bad back) £50 per month
Eyebrows every 8 weeks £10
Approx £1800 per year! 🙈
Wow, a lot of money but don’t want to cut back. I could do my own nails, really.

KilmordenCastle · 05/03/2022 07:39

Nails - £30 every 3 weeks
Brows £8 every 3 weeks
Skin treatment - £20 per month
Hairdresser - £50ish whenever I can be bothered, maybe 3 times a year.
Makeup and other beauty products - £10-£30 per month depending on what has run out.

Money is getting tight so I'm cutting out the nails and brows (can do both at home) and going to try to reduce the amount spent on products.

Kiwiinparis · 05/03/2022 07:40

For those who do splurge a little. What do you think are the best treatments to invest in? Regular facials/Botox, regular hair cuts, nails or brows etc?

OP posts:
arethereanyleftatall · 05/03/2022 07:41

I love facials so one a month - £30x12 =&360
Hair - 1 annual cut - £50
Make up = 0
Eyebrows/eyelash tint = £80
Moisturiser/skin care = £50
Pedicure/manicure, not that interested, so one a year= £60

So, annually = £600

MrsGatsby99 · 05/03/2022 07:42

Skincare, not excessive. I like Boots No 7 and often buy a set at Christmas which are really good value. I like Superdrug’s Natural Radiant range and even Aldi now. Used to be more high end before children!
Make up, no 7 and drug store brands but might go back to Bare Minerals soon as really liked that.

RussianSpy101 · 05/03/2022 07:43

@Kiwiinparis definitely hair and nails. Well cut and styled hair and neat nails make you look so polished!
I’ve never had Botox but I’m 31 so can’t say whether I will or not in the future but I have no need for it at the moment. I do love having facials and have good skin but think this is probably good genetics too as my mother also has great skin.

GeneLovesJezebel · 05/03/2022 07:43

Make up - only buy cheap stuff when I need to replace, which isn’t often.
Skincare - my only treat as like LIz Earle.
Haircuts - only when it’s too long, and I pay under £40 for a cut and blow.
The only facial I have is eyebrow tint every 6 weeks - £8.

Notdoingthis · 05/03/2022 07:44

I wouldn't have the time or money!
Hair cut £30 x 4 = £120
Tinted moisturiser one a year £15
Mascara one a year £10
Moisturiser day and night x 2 per year £20
Cleanser x 2 per year £10
Less than £200 total.

Kiwiinparis · 05/03/2022 07:44

@User76745333 do you use older makeup products? I thought that all makeup items only lasted a year tops?

OP posts:
MrsGatsby99 · 05/03/2022 07:45

@Kiwiinparis for me most important treatments (in order):

  1. Brow threading in salon - tint myself at home
  2. Haircut/ colour - regular deep conditioning at home.
  3. Nails
Do basic facial myself at home now and again.
Torak · 05/03/2022 07:47

As little as possible. Haircut once a year, no dyeing it. No makeup. Double up hand and face cream. Lip balm. Less than £75 a year.

Kiwiinparis · 05/03/2022 07:47

@RussianSpy101 I loOoove getting my nails done but to be fair I can do a pretty good job of them at home so that’s one thing I can’t justify. I do need to start getting regular hair cuts though, I’m pretty appalling at that! Grin

Facials are currently top of my list to add to my regime. I had terrible acne in my early 20s and after so many years of a strict skincare routine I’ve finally gotten it under control and gotten rid of all the scaring so I’d do anything to keep my good skin! I’m so confused of the best age to get Botox though. Some people recommend you start as early as your mid 20s for preventative measures! I’m almost 29 and it’s something I’ve been considering for a while

Lashes every 2 weeks - £30
Hair every 8-10 weeks - £65
Dermaplaning once a month - £33
Botox twice a year - £200
PDO threads once a year - £200
Make up for special occasions around 4 times a year - £35
Body wrap every other month - £35
Brow tint and shape once a month - £15

About £2600 a year. Probably more.

I hadn't thought about how much it adds up! Quite shocked that I'm spending over £200 on average a month.

ImFree2doasiwant · 05/03/2022 07:49

I wear light make up a few times a week (usually Boots no 7) and use The Ordibary skincare

Have had my hair cut in over a year, or nails, brows, nassage, nothing else.

So not much at all.

I had botox for the first time in my early 30s. I wish I had had it earlier. Just make sure about the areas you want. The first time I had forehead, 11s and crows feet. It's made a massive difference on my forehead (it's always been lined, I scowl a lot) but it made barely any difference to my crows feet as I didn't really need them doing.

I found crows feet hurt like hell too. Nowhere else did.
