Not an AIBU but I’m curious. How much do you ladies spend on beauty products a year? Including makeup, skincare, hair cuts/products, beauty treatments like facials, nails, waxing, Botox etc.

I wish that I was more low maintenance and happy without all of the add ons, but to me they are my treat to myself and make me so happy spending the time and effort taking care of myself. Along with running a hot bubble bath after a stressful day Wink

My skincare and makeup routines are my relaxation time in the morning or at night.

@HunterHearstHelmsley body scrubs and wraps are also a weakness of mine Blush they are usually a once every few years sort of thing, I wish I could afford them more often!

Very little. I swap a regular good haircut with ad hoc childcare for my hairdresser friend. We are both happy with the arrangement.

I have naturally good skin and don't wear make up. A large tub of E45 has lasted for three years as moisturiser. Shampoo from the pound shop.

Each summer I buy a couple of bottles of nail varnish for my toes.

So, probably less than £15 a year.

doadeer · 05/03/2022 07:54

I spend a lot on skincare as I love it. I take great joy in doing it every day. I would buy a product for £80 if I liked it.

I don't get my brows or anything done professionally.

I have my hair done twice a year, it's really long so doesn't need regular cuts.

I wouldn't have botox or these type of treatments.

Used to have nails and lash extensions but now I can't be bothered and I don't have time.

I wear minimal make up, most days just cc cream. Every now and then a Bright lipstick.

Changechangychange · 05/03/2022 07:57

Hair £60 every 4 months (I have long hair so don’t need to go that often, and thank god I don’t need to colour it).
Lash tint and leg wax every month - £45. I can wax my own legs, but I forget whereas if I have an appointment I will go for it.
I tint my own brows whenever I remember.
Skincare is a mix of Nivea and Clinique - probably works out at about £10 per month
Makeup - Bobbi Brown foundation and mascara - probably works out at £5 per month.

TeenPlusCat · 05/03/2022 07:57

£100. Haircuts only - £25 a time. Max 4 in a year.

Sundancerintherain · 05/03/2022 08:01

Probably less than €100 and its something that I'm trying to change , this year is going to be all about self care. So I've joined gym, had my eyebrows done properly and just had a really good cut with a plan made to get highlights in a few months .

lady725516 · 05/03/2022 08:02

Nails £27 every 3 weeks
Chemical peel every 3 months £50
Hair every 3 months £120
Skin care and olaplex every 6 months £75
Make up £50ish a year my make up last ages and I only throw away when it's used up (not after 6months/a year)

I am thinking of starting Botox this year but am leaning more towards profhilo - haven't decided yet.

I feel I'm pretty low Maintenance and believe that if you look after your skin then it doesn't really matter if you spend a lot on clothes or not.

HazeyjaneIII · 05/03/2022 08:02

Probably about £70 - £100 a year.
That would include face wash, moisturiser and make up (I have 2 daughters and we use the same face wash and moisturiser...so I bulk buy!)
DH cuts my hair. It's grey and I don't use any product on it. Nails are just cut very short, no polish.

muddyford · 05/03/2022 08:03

Roughly ten haircuts at £20 each, Simple skincare, rarely wear makeup, never had nails done, but oodles of hand cream and lip balm. So probably about £250.

RewildingAmbridge · 05/03/2022 08:04

Have my hair cut twice a year.
I spend a fair amount on skincare as I have eczema so have to be careful about what I use currently using neals yard almond cream (under £20) and rose beauty balm (£40 but lasts a year or more) . I only use a BB (under £15) cream, mascara, got a pricey ysl one for my birthday but it still smudges so will go back to a standard one (£20) and glossier cloud paint (£15) in terms of makeup so not sure how much but it's not a huge amount.
If we're including perfume that would bump it up but I have a summer birthday and usually get a bottle of nice perfume from either DH or DM then and at Christmas so rarely spend anything on it myself.
I don't have any treatments, I do pedicures/manicures etc at home so the odd tube of foot cream, or a nail polish. I keep my own eyebrows in check but have them threaded once or twice a year for shape about £10 a time
So not loads but more than most men!

LuluBlakey1 · 05/03/2022 08:06

£100. I am low maintenance. 😁

PollyPage · 05/03/2022 08:06

About 10k on botox and fillers etc, 1200 on nails, maybe 2k on hair depending on extensions and probably 1k on perfume and cosmetics. But I am old and can easily afford it. I also work in a very stressful and dangerous job and am often the only woman on rig so this is my antidote.

cptartapp · 05/03/2022 08:09

Around £100 every eight weeks having my long hair cut and coloured.
Skincare, I bulk buy a few moisturisers/toners, costs around £30 lasts around three or four months.
Nothing else.

myjumperisorange · 05/03/2022 08:09

Very little, low maintenance here Grin

Annual hairdresser trip (cut and blowdry) - £25
Annual birthday gel nails - £25
Twice yearly eyebrow wax - £8

Skincare I usually just buy in with the shopping, supermarket brand a lot of times. Don't wear make-up.

stripeyflowers · 05/03/2022 08:23

About £150 a year - mainly hair, moisturizer and make-up. No botox, gels etc. To be honest I worry about getting dependent on it then not being able to afford it at some point. Mad, I know.

ThatsALotOfPassionfruit · 05/03/2022 08:30

Gel nails every 3 weeks at £25 a time.

Somehow my haircuts (no dye) have crept up to nearly £70 so I’m trying to eek that out to twice a year.

Incidentals - mascara, foundation etc probably £100 a year.

Shampoo and conditioner I only use head and shoulders so not a lot!

Used to his my brows threaded every few weeks at a fiver a time but I’ve grown a fringe instead Grin

JanisMoplin · 05/03/2022 08:34

Very little. About 40 quid for a haircut every 3 months. For skincare I only use tretinoin and a bog standard moisturiser like Simple or Neutrogena. For hair just Garnier Banana hair food and Head and Shoulders. No nails, Botox, filler, or facials. Don't wear much makeup especially since I take the Tube so wear a mask all the time.

I don't think I look too terrible and have been mistaken for 10 years younger.

countdowntonap · 05/03/2022 08:35

Spa membership (if that counts) £110 month
Hair £70 every six weeks
Make-up (lipsticks are my weakness) approx £300 year
Skincare is where most of the spending goes as I love to try new products and will splurge on things like EGF growth serum, and I use a lot of face masks = approx £600 year
Then I have adhoc facials more for relaxation than beauty. Maybe £250 a year.

Tootsey11 · 05/03/2022 08:39

£20

JanisMoplin · 05/03/2022 08:39

I am 50 by the way and can afford to spend more. But after 2 years of Covid I have decided I want to spend money on experiences rather than appearances. I spend a lot on the theatre and gigs, which I guess is my beauty treatment and helps me feel human.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 05/03/2022 08:39

@HunterHearstHelmsley

Lashes every 2 weeks - £30 Hair every 8-10 weeks - £65 Dermaplaning once a month - £33 Botox twice a year - £200 PDO threads once a year - £200 Make up for special occasions around 4 times a year - £35 Body wrap every other month - £35 Brow tint and shape once a month - £15

About £2600 a year. Probably more.

I hadn't thought about how much it adds up! Quite shocked that I'm spending over £200 on average a month.

I didn't include skincare and make up 😭

I have sort of sensitive skin so just use Simple for cleanser, so at least that isn't expensive! Olay day and night cream work for me do probably about £20 a month. Toner, miscellar water etc lasts ages so included in the £20.

Make up - just a very light foundation, sometimes mixed with day cream. I probably buy two a year so say £40 in total. Blusher, £10 a year. I'm rubbish at lipstick so circa one million pounds a year as I'm still trying to find the right one Grin

Pegasussnail · 05/03/2022 08:40

I have semi permanent make up so most recently £160 on lip blushing (lipstick)

Hair 90 in January and will go about 4 times year.
Don't wear expensive make up (little tan and mascara and eyeliner)

Acrylic nails every month £ 40

londonrach · 05/03/2022 08:41

£0. Not even had a hair cut as discovered DH is good at cutting hair. Ive never worn make up.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 05/03/2022 08:44

How did you find it? I quite fancy it but worried I'll hate it!
