Not an AIBU but I’m curious. How much do you ladies spend on beauty products a year? Including makeup, skincare, hair cuts/products, beauty treatments like facials, nails, waxing, Botox etc.

Hair is £120 every 12 weeks
Nails is £25 every 3 weeks
Eyebrows £10 once a month
Shampoo/conditioner costs £35
Skincare costs £40
Make up would cost £200 to completely replace
A massage twice a year £40

I’d love to start waxing but it seems really expensive. Maybe I just need to earn some more money

singlepringlenotbychoice · 05/03/2022 08:50

I dread to think the annual cost

Botox £160 every 4 months
Massage £60 per month
Hair £80 every 8weeks
Skincare/hair care is around £170 every 3 months
Makeup £200 every 6 months

I'm trying to be more conscious of my spending and only buying when I actually need something and sticking to tried and tested products.

Kiwiinparis · 05/03/2022 08:52

What is a spa membership! Sorry I’m not UK based…Smile

Botox and profilho £250 every 4 months
Hair £65 every 6 weeks
Nails £25 every 3-4 weeks
Eyebrow tint/wax £10 every 2-3 weeks
Toenails £20 every 6 weeks

No idea what I spend on skincare and make up

Lonecatwithkitten · 05/03/2022 08:55

I have high maintenance hair it is thick and frizzy and I have vitelligo so need highlights to cover this as I hate it. Hair about £1K per year.'
Again viteligo on my face so need to take care to ensure it never burns Liz Earle daily ritual about £200 per year.
Make up no 7 to even out along tone as I hate how the viteligo makes my face look about £200 per year.
Never have my nails or anything else done.
So about £1.2K per year you would never ever think that from looking at me - I look very ordinary and uninterested in appearance - it just takes that to not look different.

florianfortescue · 05/03/2022 08:57

I spend a lot on products (yy Murad) but don't get many treatments.

The main thing is my hair. £360 twice a year for a cut and highlights. It's expensive but I've been going there for 15 years during which time the prices have skyrocketed. I love my hairstylist though and it always grows out brilliantly.

Apart from that I might get two pedicures a year at £40 each but that's it. I can do a good facial at home and I don't really have time for massages at the moment as I have small DC! Pre kids I loved a massage, manicure and LVL lashes.

Woollystockings · 05/03/2022 08:57

None. I’ve never had a facial or Botox or my nails done or had any waxing done. I don’t go to a hairdresser. I don’t wear makeup generally ever. I use basic Nivea as a face cream. That’s about it.

ofwarren · 05/03/2022 08:57

Hair = 0
Make up = I may buy a mascara or something, so possibly £10
Skin care = I might buy a moisturiser but wouldn't pay over £10
Nails = 0
Lashes = 0
Suncream = £15
Treatments = 0

So around £35 a year

Parfait · 05/03/2022 09:00

I wrote it down for a whole year once - not including makeup and skincare purchases it was
£3.5k

doadeer · 05/03/2022 09:00

@londonrach

£0. Not even had a hair cut as discovered DH is good at cutting hair. Ive never worn make up.
You don't buy sun cream? Or shampoo?
fussychica · 05/03/2022 09:00

Nothing on beauty treatments. £75 on cut and colour every 10 weeks. Make up and skin care about £50 a year tops.

CounsellorTroi · 05/03/2022 09:01

Hair cut and colour every 6 weeks £135. Occasionally get eyebrows and nails done before a holiday abroad but not a regular thing. Use Elemis skin care but most of that is given to me by DH for Christmas/birthday etc. Hardly ever wear makeup but if I do it’s No7 or Max Factor.

Benjispruce5 · 05/03/2022 09:04

Ooh I’ve never added it up so I’ll try.
Biggest extravagance is hair foils and cut every 8 weeks at £80.
Never have manicures or pedicures, just paint my own.
Never had regular treatments of any kind.
I buy hyalaronic acid and retinol from The Ordinary, moisturiser from Aldi and use La Roche Possay spf March-October.
I reckon that’s a total £500-£600 pa. Mostly hairdresser’s bill. I’m 50.

Benjispruce5 · 05/03/2022 09:05

Oh and I use cold wax strips that cost £1.00 a box.Smile

Akite · 05/03/2022 09:07

£0 on makeup, skincare maybe £10 a year? I only use a bit of Nivea cream for moisturiser.
Haven't had my hair cut since the start of the pandemic so £0 at the moment but when it was short probably £40 every 2 months. I have curly hair so use curl cream/gel/serum etc which probably would cost £150 a year I guess.
Don't have facials, don't get nails done, don't wax, would never Botox. I do like massages/body treatments though so would have a couple of those a year.

Benjispruce5 · 05/03/2022 09:10

Oh I forgot makeup. I’m a daily wearer but have a few good eyeshadow palettes that were gifts or teenage DD cast-offs. No7 foundation and primers so about £40 total a few times a year on those. Plus a few pencils and lipsticks but only buy cheap ish in Boots etc.

RuthW · 05/03/2022 09:11

£30 every 6 weeks on hair.

Prob £5 a month on make up and toiletries.

Am not trying to make you feel bad- everyone should spend their money however they wish- but am curious as to what you spend on. Is it like a really good haircut? My hair is super wavy and coarse, and I find that it looks more or less the same however much I spend.
sairiegamp · 05/03/2022 09:12

CACI. Just finished 10 sessions today of the "mega-put-your-face-back-where-it-fucking-used-to-be" and I will never stop my monthly follow ups.

I do nothing, NOTHING, else

Benjispruce5 · 05/03/2022 09:13

@sairiegamp what is that?

GiantSpider · 05/03/2022 09:13

Hair coloured / cut every three / six months for £50 / £70.

Very little on make up and skin care, I rarely wear make up and buy cheap shampoo and moisturiser. I never get my nails done. Hair removal is my epilator (so was pricey to buy but free per use).

I go to a day spa with my friend for a day once a year and have a treatment (facial or body wrap).

Amelion · 05/03/2022 09:18

I don’t know but it must be a lot…. I get my hair cut and coloured with a deep treatment every two months for about £180. Manicure and pedicure now and then - for holidays etc at about £60 a time. LVL lashes and brows done about every couple of mo the for £80 a go. I get a microblading top up at about £350 a year. Prescription retinol for £25 a month plus other products probably of about £50 a month. So maybe £2000-3000 a year?

Anoisagusaris · 05/03/2022 09:19

I’ve been thinking about CACI for a few years now but haven’t actually got around to it. Are they really that good? I’m mid-40s, good enough skin that’s quite dry, no forehead wrinkles - but I feel like my face is collapsing or drooping downwards! I don’t know if it’s because I’m overweight or just aging. My eyebrows have dropped and make my eyes look hooded, I’ve massive bags under my eyes. Is CACI my saviour??
RoseMartha · 05/03/2022 09:20

Probably about £200 a year on everything.

Proudboomer · 05/03/2022 09:21

Hair £0 I have long hair that my sons girlfriend trims. I am letting the grey grow so I don’t dye or highlight
Nail £0
Facials £0
Makeup £0 as I don’t wear any
All,I buy is a packet of soap which I pack of 4 last best part of a year
Supermarkets own anti dandruff shampoo Around £1 a bottle and last around a month. Same for conditioner.
I buy supermarkets own hair serum. Tesco sell one small one for £1 or Morrisons a larger one for £1.50 and again will last a month.
Moisturiser I buy Lidl stuff or often I have nicer stuff gifted at Christmas.
The rest of my personal care is made up of toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant and a decent pair of nail clippers.
