Not an AIBU but I’m curious. How much do you ladies spend on beauty products a year? Including makeup, skincare, hair cuts/products, beauty treatments like facials, nails, waxing, Botox etc.

I have a haircut once a year if I'm lucky £30-45
Make up I get given to me at Xmas/birthday but I have a favourite eyeliner that I have to get at 7.99 and an eyebrow pencil £10, but these are maybe once every 6 months.
That's it. I use simple moisturiser. I don't have nails done, or lashes extended etc. I pluck my own eyebrows, use cheap shampoo and conditioner because I'm poor. Also I hardly shave my legs either as they're never out.

georgarina · 05/03/2022 09:24

per year
botox (2x) - £700
haircut and highlights (x1) - £350
chemical hair straightening (x1) - £350
RX retinol skin cream - £30
cleansing milk - £30
moisturiser - £75
replacing basics (foundation, concealer, eyeliner, mascara, lip liner, blush/bronzer) - £50-100
eyelash extensions - £100
refill hair serum - £30
shampoo/conditioner (4 bottles) - £100
elasticiser hair masque (1000ml bottle - once every 1/2 years) - £80

Very little, compared to many.

Hair cut and coloured every 6 weeks @ £53 a time = £477

Pedicure every 4 weeks but only in the summer, say 7 x £45 = £315

I Lumea my hairy bits, have done for years, and they're virtually hair free now.

I buy moisturiser etc when they're on 3 for 2 or bogof offers, probably not much more than £100 a year.

(I downgraded from Clarins to L'Oreal Revitalift when my income dropped some years ago, and haven't really noticed a difference in my skin, despite being much older.)

I have very dry skin on my body and get through the best part of a bottle of body lotion a month, so that's another £50 pa.

It's still getting on for £1k a year though. I'm semi-retired, and when I give up my part-time job my total income will only be £13-14k, so that'll be a significant chunk of it.

JMAngel1 · 05/03/2022 09:34

I daren't add it up!
On the one hand I'm frugal in that I cut and colour my own hair (but the professional dye prkducts add up), do my own LED/microneedling facials etc. But I am a sucker for a new product or tool.
I only buy lowish price skincare but research like crazy to know what I'm using is effective ( I tend to go with Korean or Japanese brands). Tbh as long as I have a gokd SPF, tretinoin and vit C product, I'm happy.
My weaknesses are sheet masks and body oils.
I only attend a salon for gel pedicure and only around 4 x year to cover summer period.
Makeup wise I go. very low end - genuinely can't see a difference. Primark do the best nude lipsticks/pencils and Essence/MUA/Revolution are fantastic.

Well, I don’t regularly cut my hair, only when I can’t take care of the length anymore. A gay guy I used to be friendly with used to cut it about twice a year for £20. But I’ve lost contact with him, not sure what happened. So now I pay £55 to a local salon owner for the same job. I’ll probably end up with very long hair.

I have had so many disasters with my nails done (last time December 2021) that I vowed to never do it again. I prefer them short and without any varnish on anyway.

I had my eyelashes done once quite a few years ago out of curiosity. I will never do it again, just not my thing.

I would love to get my whole body below the eyebrows waxed regularly and I know a girl who does a great job of it. But it’ll cost me about £100 all included every 3 weeks at least, ideally I’d do it every 2 weeks. I really don’t want to pay so much 💰 for feckin body hair.

I use shampoo £3.29 and hair mask £2.25 from Savers after years of searching for the right type of product. I still have two large bottles of shampoo and conditioner by Maria Nila that cost me £80 for both. I can’t believe it’s taken my so long to find the right thing.

I spend 2.99 on face wash in Savers and £6.99 on moisturiser elsewhere. I use makeup regularly, nothing crazy expensive and it lasts for years.

I also use a box dye for £2.29 from Savers and my hair is beautifully soft, long and a vibrant colour.

Plus body moisturiser, I try to not spend more than £5, every 2-3 months.

Funnily enough, I think I look the best I have in years. There was a point I started gaining weight but I’m proud to have nipped it in the bud. I’m now at the very bottom end of my healthy BMI. I think this changed the way my face looks fundamentally, not makeup.

Bottom line, I spend very little all things relative.

speakout · 05/03/2022 09:36

£100 a year- that includes hair and all beauty products

Oblomov22 · 05/03/2022 09:39

Haircut £30 every 7 weeks.
Highlights £60 twice a year.
Eyelashes dyed £15 twice a year.
Makeup £10 per year.
Nails £5 nail paint x 2 for a party.

Max £400

OfstedOffred · 05/03/2022 09:39

Almost nothing. Dont really bother with makeup any more unless I'm going Out Out. Based on the other mums on school run I am not alone. Our husbands don't spend half hour putting their face on daily and doing nails etc so why don't we look good enough unless we do?

Ps op watch out. Your posts read like market research.

Smurf1984 · 05/03/2022 09:47

Hair every 6/7 weeks £60
Lip fillers twice a year £220
Eyebrow threading every 2 months £10 tint at home around £5 a month
At home skin care, cleaner, moisturiser mid range so probably £25 a month
Perfume equates to £10 a month
Nails at home around £10 a month
Deep tissue massage as a treat maybe twice a year at £50 a time…
Probably around £2500 a year 😳 I probably need to pull back as written down it’s seems far too much

Branleuse · 05/03/2022 09:50

Roughly
Haircut every 2 or 3 months about £40
Botox occasionally, maybe 2 or 3 times a year at 100 a time

Makeup i generally buy cheap. Replace mascara or foundation as and when but I usually buy low to mid end such as rimmel or wilkos own, poundland or tkmaxx.
Moisturiser, i have an expensive loccitane divine immortelle oil that i usually get as a gift but dont spend a lot on that sort of skincare as my skin is naturally a bit oily so i mostly only moisturise in the summer.

I have a lot of lotions and potions that i never use. I need to do a declutter

MintyGreenDream · 05/03/2022 09:59

Around 600 a year on botox and god knows how much on skincare products

wtfwasthatmate · 05/03/2022 10:02

About $6000 AUD.

Includes skincare, make up, laser, hair cuts, eyebrow waxing and tinting, eyelash tinting.

AuntieMarys · 05/03/2022 10:02

Hair £130 every 5 weeks
Nails £50 a month
Facial £80 every 6 weeks
Waxing £30 every 2 months
Makeup...about £200 a year
Dh buys all my perfumes

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 05/03/2022 10:02

Very little. If I had the money I would have Botox (or a facelift) and lash extensions, but I can’t afford those at the moment.
I cut and highlight my own hair, so I don’t go to the hairdresser. I only use shampoo and conditioner - no other hair products.
I do wear makeup but only purchase what I use, and use Boots No7.
I paint my own nails. No extensions.
I do my own fake tan occasionally.
I’ve got an IPL for home hair removal.
Do my own brows.

AuntieMarys · 05/03/2022 10:02

Oh and skincare about £400 a year

Wagsandclaws · 05/03/2022 10:05

Hair, about £80 every six or so weeks.

Skincare, I mostly use cheaper Aldi stuff and retina ol from dermatica but that's only £20 per month. I do spend a lot on some Obagi eye cream but that lasts about 2/3 months so I'd say all in about £600 per year.

Botox every 12 weeks is about 1200 per year.

Fillers are about every 12 to 18 months and I'd say are about 1500

At most 4K a year so about 330 per month.

I don't have my nails done ( they are a bit of a lost cause as I have horses and they break all of the time. ) I don't have facials or anything like that however last year due to losing 6 stone I spent 10.5k on a lower face and neck lift due to being 50 and having severe saggy skin on my neck which I really hated.

I don't think I'm super high maintenance but not low either, yes I'd say all together it probably costs about £350 per month.

Ten years ago though I could not have afforded it so having recently turned 50 I feel very lucky.

Question887 · 05/03/2022 10:06

Gosh more than I want to work out! I'm not hugely into make up and was never one to spend much. However I've started having Botox and that is £250 a time, mine wears off after 3 months so that's £1000 a year!
I don't buy a lot of make up but my mascara is £20(probably twice a year) and foundation £30 3 times a year. I have just started getting my eyebrows waxed and tinted which is around £22 every 6 weeks.
I very rarely get my hair done, probably twice a year and it's just a trim.
When I work it out, I'm surprised how much I spend!

Kiwiinparis · 05/03/2022 10:16

No not market research. just genuinely curious what others beauty budgets were and how mine stacked up against it!

Get my hair cut and coloured every couple of months, costs £45. (my hairdresser comes to the house and is amazing).

Never had a facial, or botox, or any of the rest of it.

user1487194234 · 05/03/2022 10:29

About £200 a month on hair,waxing,facial,nails
Maybe £50 a month on products

CounsellorTroi · 05/03/2022 10:35

I belong to a gym which has a spa but have never availed myself of any of the treatments, it’s all a bit of a mystery to me.

PuppyPowerTool · 05/03/2022 10:38

£11 every 6months at the cheap hairdresser's in town.
