Not an AIBU but I’m curious. How much do you ladies spend on beauty products a year? Including makeup, skincare, hair cuts/products, beauty treatments like facials, nails, waxing, Botox etc.

Almost nothing! I don't wear makeup and a family member cuts my hair in return for something I do for her.
I don't spend much on shampoo, body lotions etc

Girlmumdogmumboymum · 06/03/2022 17:03

My make up costs £200-300 a year. Christian Dior but my makeup bag is quite light don't have many products.

Face care and body care - maybe £150 a year?

Haircare-non existent. I cut my own hair.

Waxing- full face to get rid of the PCOS stubble. £25 a month.

Nails- do them myself at home.

Pretty low maintenance I guess!

JanisMoplin · 06/03/2022 17:42

@IcedPurple I get it from family in India, I am afraid, so no help to you, but the Dermatica one should work?. Also I would caution against using tretinoin without the advice of a dermatologist, as it can be quite harsh on skin and there is an initial purging period. I started using it during the first lockdown as I wasn't meeting anyone anyway. It helped with my peri-menopause acne.

@Wagsandclaws your skin looks great! I can see the tretinoin glow.:)

Wagsandclaws · 06/03/2022 18:13

@JanisMoplin it's bloody amazing stuff isn't it!?

I wish I had tried it earlier tbh but it's doing what it's meant to do.

I must say the dodgy skin phase ( purging ) wasn't nice as my skin used to peel on a regular basis but now I've got to this stage I absolutely love it Grin

Kiwiinparis · 06/03/2022 19:20

@Wagsandclaws wow your skin looks fantastic!

I didn’t want to make anyone feel bad by starting this thread! FWIW I don’t think anyone needs to have any treatments/regimes to be beautiful :)

Hair £74 every 10 weeks
Nails £28 every 3 weeks
Skin care I’ve no idea, I swap between Clinique, Tropics and other stuff like No7. I haven’t run out for a while.
Make up I but MAC and Benefit mostly but I’ve cut down on how much I use since having 2 kids. I use a No7 light foundation most days as the MAC was too heavy.

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/03/2022 19:30

I’m very tempted by Botox though and had a consultation last year. I was all set to book an appointment but then found out I was pregnant.

Truthlikeness · 06/03/2022 19:40

Hair cut once a year - £100 (was about once every 9 months prior to lockdown and I should get it done more often)

Probably less than £100 a year on makeup and beauty products. I only really wear mascara and eye liner and not that often as it upsets my skin. I've had one manicure and one pedicure in my life Grin. I had a body treatment once at a spa that a friend paid for and my skin broke out in a rash. My policy is generally just to leave everything alone and wear plenty of suntan lotion.

Lndnmummy · 06/03/2022 19:49

Way to much. Way to much. Last year somewhere between £3.5k-£4.5k

MinglingFlamingo · 06/03/2022 22:27

Hair £95 every 4 -6months
Gel polish - £25 every school holiday & special ocassion
Leg wax £22 every month
Eye brow wax £15 as required

Sw England

MinglingFlamingo · 06/03/2022 22:29

God knows what in beauty products probably £250 a year - make up, face cream and wash, acne treatment

£60-90 on a facial once a year

OneMoreTimeThen · 06/03/2022 22:29

£5 a month for eyebrow threading, £20 every 3 months for my hair. Spend about £15 every 6 months on make up. I don't do nails or skin treatments.

OneMoreTimeThen · 06/03/2022 22:30

About £5 a month average for moisturiser and face creams

Newmumatlast · 06/03/2022 22:58

Really difficult to quantify for me as I don't have a lot of salon treatments but know I spend lots on bath and smelly stuff.

I would guess £50 every 6 weeks on hair, £200 a year on spa days, £400-500 on gym, about £50 max on make up as I am bad and dont abide by the dates so some years buy none plus dont use it all the time, maybe £20-30 a month on hair and bath products, and skincare I do in fits and starts so maybe £200 a year?

Scrumbleton · 06/03/2022 23:44

Guinot hydradermie facial and chemical peel monthly £150
Botox every 6 months £350
Hairdresser comes to house for monthly highlights £80
Makeup £200 a year approx
Thread veins every couple of years £150
Nails (mani and pedi ) less than pre COVID probably £50 a month on average
Brows - £10 every 2 months
Face creams - £10 a month ( just buy whatever is on offer at TK Max day and night cream)

steff13 · 07/03/2022 00:26

I'm in the US, so it's in dollars. And plus tip.
Eyelashes - $65 every two weeks.
Eyebrows (waxed and tinted) - $35 every four weeks
Bikini Wax - $60 every four weeks
Haircut - $45 every six weeks
Hair color - 2x per year, about $250 (cut included)
Pedicure - as and when I feel like it, $60

Makeup I don't buy often, but I buy lipgloss when I see a new one I want.

Cocomarine · 07/03/2022 01:18

I don’t really consider hair cuts and shampoo / conditioner as spending on “beauty” any more than soap is.
So without those: £0
With them… under £150

MidnightMeltdown · 07/03/2022 02:31

I spend a lot on skin care (no idea how much), but much less on makeup. I tend to think that if your skin looks good, then you don't need a lot of makeup. I don't like having things like foundation on my skin.

Probably spend around £450 a year on hair which includes 2 balayage and 4 cuts.

Don't do facials anymore as I feel that they're a waste of money. My spa treatment of choice is always a massage and I probably have around 6 (£300 per year).

I'm not into nails so would rarely get them done. Maybe once a year if that.

Probably get eyebrows done around every six weeks.

No Botox yet, but might consider when I get into my 40s

CheapFoodShits · 07/03/2022 07:41

Skincare: Around £300-350 a year. I mostly use The Ordinary products.
Makeup: I'm being better now but in past years probably about £500.
I haven't had a haircut in years. It's desperate for one so that'll be another £40ish.
Nails: Maybe £10 a year? I don't care about nails other than a good filing every now and again.

Siameasy · 07/03/2022 08:02

Not much. I’ll get a bikini wax for holidays. I do my nails myself and only wear make up for out out so a bottle of foundation lasts ages ~years~

I’m 45 and have never had Botox or fillers and it’s not something I would be interested in

CIaireFraser · 07/03/2022 19:42

I haven't been to the hairdresser since 2003 and use a £3 box dye every three or four weeks (I cut it myself). Tresemme shampoo and conditioner, maybe a fiver a month.

Never had a massage/manicure/facial or anything like that (but I'd love Botox/fillers!).

I use an Aldi moisturiser and face wash, and wear factor 5O sunscreen on my face all year round because my medication makes me very photosensitive. Mascara is Essence Lash Princess (about £3), a pale gold eyeshadow from Boots Natural Collection (£2) and foundation is whatever is cheap and light toned (I'm very pale). Usually about a fiver a year.

I do have a thing for MAC lipsticks though, it's my only indulgence! I buy one every two or three months when I've saved up for one.
