For me, it’s going into my bed with freshly washed bedsheets after I have a shower. Bliss.

I love spooning my dog in bed when he’s all fresh and fluffy and smells better than usual after a bath.

Also snuggling up with my DC reading them my favourite stories from my childhood.

booplefloof · 26/02/2022 08:07

I live close to a lake and I love to be in the water as the sun rises. It brings me so much peace and whenever I get to do this, it starts the day off so nicely.

I try to make sure I have time to have a cup of tea by the water afterwards too. That's a real luxury.

DH bringing me a glass of wine while he’s cooking dinner.

CounsellorTroi · 26/02/2022 08:11

Also burying my face in my DB’s lab’s beautiful shiny black coat. He likes it too!

AgingBadly · 26/02/2022 08:11

Lying in bed feeling the wind on my face

Hearing my 3 year old snoring

First coffee and meditate in the morning

Mumsnet after everyone else is asleep in the house

I really do think that simple pleasures are the key to a very content life Smile

muckandnettles · 26/02/2022 08:13

Watching the squirrel in my garden do gymnastics to get at the peanuts.

actiongirl1978 · 26/02/2022 08:13

Very dark chocolate which I keep in the fridge and eat small pieces of on and off all day.

Clean sheets when I'm sober - a total waste if I've had a glass of wine as I sleep badly and don't appreciate the smell.

As pp said an empty lane when I go swimming.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 26/02/2022 08:13

There's a small cove just a minutes walk away from our holiday home, the water is always crystal clear and warm during the summer, we are there every day between May-September, I'm counting the days until we can do that again all summer long 😫 Although in the winter when we go down for a long weekend you can hear the waves crashing and watch the wild weather from the living room balcony, it's bliss but in a different way.

Reading. Good book in one hand, cup of tea in the other.

dudsville · 26/02/2022 08:24

Most things, but the connect early on I like drinking from a straw brings it home for me. I'm hardwired to appreciate things as they happen. I do have upsets and melancholy days but for the most part I tend to marvel at small things.

bruce43mydog · 26/02/2022 08:28

Silence it's pure bliss in a silent type of mood today and am just enjoying the sounds of the birds in the garden. Until my noisy family start the chaos.

dottydodah · 26/02/2022 08:37

After the last two WE spent at the launderette ,due to issues of disposal of old WM until new one could be arranged,Getting to know new WM and doing all washing (inc beds) ! Feel very much more relaxed now !

Lemonweightloss · 26/02/2022 08:37

@GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas@AgingBadly, agreed. Finding the simplest pleasures is what it's all about.
I was watching my granddaughter play with her cousins yesterday. It was a madhouse but I felt so happy and grateful.
I also think my heart will burst when my dog looks at me.
Love washing on the line.
When I was ill last week, my dh persuaded me to have a bath and when I got out, he'd changed the bedding. Was amazing.
I think it's interesting how people strive for monetary success and all it entails, when really none of it matters !
Great thread @Hairbrush123

StScholastica · 26/02/2022 08:41

Having the house to myself.
Croissants with jam.
Sunshine.
Daffodils.

bruce43mydog · 26/02/2022 09:01

What a great thread op. It's good to imagine what everyone else's simple pleasures are. Love Reading all these comments in silence. Enjoy your simple pleasures everyone.

GeneLovesJezebel · 26/02/2022 09:03

A bubble bath.

Musmerian · 26/02/2022 09:10

Hot bath and book, log fire and book/tv, new amazing mattress, dog walk.

Crikeyalmighty · 26/02/2022 09:18

Not sure it’s simple as such but getting off a plane old fashioned style and walking into heat and bright sunshine from gloom at the other end and walking across the tarmac

CounsellorTroi · 26/02/2022 09:25

Browsing the bookshelves in charity shops.

confusedbunches · 26/02/2022 09:31

Being home alone. It's happened three times in the last 5 years, and is happening this Monday evening. I CANNOT wait.

Also, the sound of moving water. Waves, waterfalls, river trickles, the weir in town. Makes me feel relaxed and peaceful.

zingally · 26/02/2022 09:48

A mid-afternoon bath. :) Take a book in with me, maybe a snack, play some relaxing music on the alexa. Feels very indulgent!

saddowizca · 26/02/2022 09:58

@Florencenotflo

A clean house, that I haven't had to clean! DH has been isolating this week and has spent it spring cleaning the house top to bottom. It's lovely!
One of the few times we had a cleaner and I arrived home to an immaculate shiny house- it made me so happy I almost cried! I felt really loved and cosseted in a way that doesn’t happen often when you’re an adult.
LadyEloise1 · 26/02/2022 10:03

A late Saturday afternoon, house to myself, put on the kettle, have a coffee and read The Irish Times magazine.

Thursday morning when I read the property section of the same newspaper.
Those amazing houses by the sea. A girl can dream....

GromblesofGrimbledon · 26/02/2022 10:04

When the cat says prrrtnyao.

When winter is still here but you can smell the coming spring in the air.

When summer is ending and the light becomes golden and you can smell the musky autumn on its way.

When the house is silent and I can hear Mr Grombles clacking on his keyboard in the next room.

The swish of our shower curtain.

Ice cold water with sliced cucumber.

Watching from the window when it snows heavily at night.

When I make Mr Grombles laugh.

Madeleine moments.

When my little boy smiles widely at me first thing in the morning.

lockdownalli · 26/02/2022 10:04

Totally agree with most of these except the marmite

A simple pleasure I have that doesn't appear to have been mentioned yet is one that happened this week. My two young adult DC met up for a day out in London, and sent me a photo of them together.

It really makes me so happy to see them still making time for each other and enjoying each others company now they are busy adults.

DCat snoring is probably my favourite sound, it just fills me with contentment.
