DH gave his female coworker a lift home past midnight

So my husband went to a works drink after work on Friday, around midnight he messaged me asking if he should get us a McDonald's, replied back saying in bed but yeah why not.
A few mins later I had no response back from him whether he was going to get McDonald's or not so I called him and I could tell he was in the car when he answered. I mentioned get the takeaway and he said do I want fries and when I was about to respond I hear a female voice. He was giving one of his coworkers a lift home past midnight!
This I'm not going to lie really got my back up.
Am I reading too much into this???

I can see you have conceded you might have been unreasonable (and if in any doubt YWBVVVVU) but why would you think there was anything strange in that in the first place ?

I'd be more concerned if it somehow came to light that my dh had the car but left a friend to walk home late at night.

LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 05/02/2022 23:33

If a coworker of either sex needed a lift home at that time of night I would want H to give them a lift.

Isittimeformynapyet · 05/02/2022 23:34

@RedskyThisNight

Totally normal to drop colleagues home after a night out. If he was asking about getting McDonalds, he clearly wasn't going to do anything other then drop her off.
THAN! "Than" drop her off.

I never know if this is a typo or if people really don't know the difference between "then" and "than". It's everywhere.

Yeah, I know... sorry.

mrsbyers · 05/02/2022 23:37

I’d be more annoyed if my husband was driving and didn’t offer her a lift home if it was reasonably enroute

RussiasGreatestLoveMachine · 05/02/2022 23:37

Driving home after work drinks….

…and McDonald’s after midnight and you’ve gone to bed….?

Confused Confused

Anniegetyourgun76 · 05/02/2022 23:38

Wow, unless there is a huge backstory you're not giving us you have issues! I'd be furious if my DH didn't give a female coworker a lift home if they were all out after midnight 🤔🤔

VodselForDinner · 05/02/2022 23:41

I’d think nothing of this. In fact, I’d be glad my husband ensured someone got home safely. He’s often collected me after a work night out, and has dropped my colleagues home too.

Now, if he landed into my bed with a stinky McDonald’s, that would be an issue. Ick.

longwayoff · 05/02/2022 23:43

A colleague gave me a lift home, it was about 11.55 when we finished having wild sex in the car and 5 minutes later the bloody thing turned into a pumpkin and he turned into a frog. I had to walk the rest of the way. And I never got my promised burger. What a night, I was glad to get home and go to bed.

CockingASnook · 05/02/2022 23:52

Who would be in bed after midnight and think 'I could really do with a McDonalds right now'?!

GameofPhones · 05/02/2022 23:58

Good for him - he didn’t leave her to fend for herself. He sounds like a decent bloke. Stop being jealous!
BaileysBaileys · 05/02/2022 23:58

The only unreasonable thing about your story is why would you say yeah to a Mc Donald’s that late and you’re already in bed

ChampionOfTheSun · 06/02/2022 00:01

I used to be a manager in a bar/restaurant and we'd always finish after midnight if we were on the close, sometimes as late as 4am depending on what had been happening so whoever was driving would give everyone else a lift home, including any drunk colleagues who happened to have been out that evening and were stumbling back past as we were leaving. No one would have dreamt of saying "no sorry it's too late"; quite the opposite in fact. We'd also do late night trips to McDonald's after a close and I promise nothing bad happened Grin

Thelnebriati · 06/02/2022 00:03

Sounds like he'll be a good role model for his kids.

Burnamer · 06/02/2022 00:04

It’s perfectly possible to drink soft drinks you know…..

Dreamstate · 06/02/2022 00:12

Did he come back with milkshake...

Guavaf1sh · 06/02/2022 00:23

McDonald’s milkshake machines are always on the blink

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 06/02/2022 00:24

I think that's really good of him

Oldtiredfedup · 06/02/2022 00:25

Past midnight?? That’s the only time men cheat with unruly, husband stealing female colleagues….

ClemDanFango · 06/02/2022 00:28

My only concern would be if he picked up the makkers and then dropped her home. Stone cold maccie D’s is fucking unforgivable and a deal breaker. I’d be livid.

BadLad · 06/02/2022 00:29

On this thread we have people eating McDonald's in bed after midnight. On another recent thread we had people getting up at 4:30 to go to the gym.

Takes all sorts.

Fatarseflanagan09 · 06/02/2022 00:33

I’d be disappointed in my husband if he left her to walk.

AcrossthePond55 · 06/02/2022 00:35

This is the kind of good bloke we need more of! A nice guy who offers a female coworker a ride home without an ulterior motive.

TheChosenTwo · 06/02/2022 00:36

This thread has just reminded me of my lovely old boss when I worked at a pub as a naive 18 year old, he used to walk me a mile home with his dog (mainly to walk his dog to be fair Grin ) to make sure I got home safely and then turn and walk a mile back at 12:30. Think he was probably so glad when I finally shacked up with dp and it was someone else’s turn! Sweet fella that one.
Anyway, yes op, I’m glad you realised you were being ridiculous and he was doing a nice thing, surely you’d have been more cross to hear that he’d left her to walk home alone WITHOUT offering her a lift!

Lalliella · 06/02/2022 00:38

Are you reading too much into this?

Yes.
