DH gave his female coworker a lift home past midnight

So my husband went to a works drink after work on Friday, around midnight he messaged me asking if he should get us a McDonald's, replied back saying in bed but yeah why not.
A few mins later I had no response back from him whether he was going to get McDonald's or not so I called him and I could tell he was in the car when he answered. I mentioned get the takeaway and he said do I want fries and when I was about to respond I hear a female voice. He was giving one of his coworkers a lift home past midnight!
This I'm not going to lie really got my back up.
Am I reading too much into this???

@Hexagonmum

I figured I was being unreasonable and he does have a heart of gold. Thanks ladies for getting my head on right...so glad I didn't overreact last night and just kept it normal while I figured out my feelings about it.
But why did you have that instinctive reaction OP? If the poor bloke has a heart of gold, did a nice thing by helping her get home safely, offered to bring you food back on his way and didn't keep any of it secret or anything... what was it that you were worried about?

Is he untrustworthy?

Does she have a reputation for getting her hands on married men's McNuggets?

grapewine · 05/02/2022 23:04

@Jennifer2r

I agree with OP, it's the fact that it's past midnight that makes it really bad, I'd let a male colleague give me a lift home at 11.30pm but no later Confused
Seriously? Why not?
GrazingSheep · 05/02/2022 23:04

So your first reaction is that your husband is untrustworthy?? Does he know that you think this about him?

NichyNoo · 05/02/2022 23:04

I find it more strange that you were in bed but thought it was normal to eat a McDonalds after having already gone to bed Shock

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 05/02/2022 23:04

I would be more upset if he’d have left his colleague to get home on their own.

As is? Not upset at all.

Unless she ate my chips. 🍟

What if she just sucked the salt off?

OP, did you check your fries for signs of lipstick?

DdraigGoch · 05/02/2022 23:06

@Notimeforaname

If he'd given her a lift before midnight would it have been better ?
Her pumpkin would still have been a carriage.
LawnFever · 05/02/2022 23:06

Am I reading too much into this???

Yes, you’re welcome Smile

Whatwouldscullydo · 05/02/2022 23:07

I've been taken home by my make boss loads if times. After 10 though not 12 but we don't go out after work.

Unless there's a reason not to trust him it's not a big deal

ThinWomansBrain · 05/02/2022 23:07

wow - great seduction technique - what did you expect he'd be saying to her - "it'll have to be a quickie, I don't want my wife's macdonalds to get cold"?

If anything was going on, he'd have called you after he'd dropped her off - or whatever.

CristinaYangismySpiritAnimal · 05/02/2022 23:08

Not sure what the fact it was after midnight has to do with anything. Can people only have affairs after midnight?

Frankola · 05/02/2022 23:10

What happens if he gives a female colleague a lift home after midnight? Is she a gremlin?

What is the world coming to when a man can't even give a woman a lift to get her safely home after dark....

Chichimcgee · 05/02/2022 23:12

Does she have a reputation for getting her hands on married men's McNuggets?

Literally just snorted at that 🤣

Itsalmostanaccessory · 05/02/2022 23:14

Eh?

This place is nuts.

PrettyBluebells · 05/02/2022 23:14

Is this for real? Who the hell would give this a second thought? Your dh is a nice bloke, isn't that one of the reasons you married him?

Mamanyt · 05/02/2022 23:18

I wouldn't worry about this a bit, unless he had a history, which you do not mention. He's being a nice guy, and being a nice guy, should she try something, he will tell her, "No, thank you," firmly, and never give her a ride again. IF, on the other hand, he gets home four hours later and without the McDonalds, bash him over the head with a skillet and discuss it in the morning, Grin

DogMum3107 · 05/02/2022 23:20

I would be annoyed if my husband didn't give her a lift home! If he told me a female coworker had to walk home or get a taxi on her own past midnight I would be furious at the fact that he drives and could get her home safely.

I don't see what your issue is? He is being a genuine nice guy!

Summerfun54321 · 05/02/2022 23:21

Giving a colleague a lift home seems very normal in comparison to the bedtime takeaway.

SugarPlumFairy999 · 05/02/2022 23:21

Unless he's given you reason in the past not to be trusted then get over yourself, he's savings her a taxi fare and possibly her life so she doesn't have to walk home alone in the dark, my husband would and has done this for male and female friends and colleagues, doubt it means anything is going on!

amusedbush · 05/02/2022 23:23

He sounds lovely - I would hope that my DH would see a female colleague home late at night rather than leaving her to walk. It's considerate - AND he brought you home a McDonald's. Win-win.

Holidaypls2022 · 05/02/2022 23:27

@NichyNoo exactly what I thought. Surely you'd have done your teeth already Grin

ludocris · 05/02/2022 23:29

Well of course she needed a lift home if it was after midnight. Her carriage will have turned back into a pumpkin!

TheOrigRights · 05/02/2022 23:29

around midnight he messaged me asking if he should get us a McDonald's, replied back saying in bed but yeah why not.

That's the most odd thing about all of this!
McDonald's after you've already gone to bed?! You savage!

Twinklights · 05/02/2022 23:31

Good for him, didn’t realise I should be annoyed at my husband for giving his female colleagues a lift home after late nights Confused
