Why did he have that in his bum?

So tonight DD asked me when she was going to bed about something a boy in nursery had on his bum. She said he pulled his pants down and showed her a worm then starts showing me her mini saying she doesn't have a worm! I've tried to ask how this happened and not got a lot of sense from her (she's 3) I think it may of been in the toilet but she said there was no teacher there. AIBU to be thinking they shouldn't be going the toilet together without a teacher and slightly alarmed by this?

Wouldn’t the worm be male genitalia ?

And yes they should be supervised better

Stath · 03/02/2022 21:09

I’d certainly ask at nursery what might have happened.
However, cutesy nicknames for genitalia are all very well but children need to know the right words to use for their body.
We use ‘willows and bums’ etc but our kids have also know what to call their body parts too. This helps with situations like these and helps immensely to facilitate them explaining what’s happened with clarity.

  • willies not willows!
dementedpixie · 03/02/2022 21:10

I hope you explained about male and female parts and gave them a better name than a worm and a mini

EmpressCixi · 03/02/2022 21:12

Time to show her that boys have willies and girls do not. Sex education isn’t just about having sex, but what is the difference between the sexes.

Hugasauras · 03/02/2022 21:13

What's a mini?

Icantremembermyusername · 03/02/2022 21:14

Jeez, glad people came in with references to body parts, I was thinking he was storing a garden worm in his bum cheeks and scared where that might end!

Wavypurple · 03/02/2022 21:14

What? As in an actual worm?

I’m so confused reading this and I’m an adult.

I honestly thought you were talking about an actual worm (animal) and Minnie Mouse.

Penis and labia/vagina aren’t rude.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 03/02/2022 21:15

Why don't people use proper names for things?

I read this thinking he had worms down his pants Confused

Me too, I thought the poor kid had either a tape worm or an actual garden worm down his pants Confused

This is a useful resource too.

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 03/02/2022 21:15

I thought the OP was talking about threadworms Grin

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 03/02/2022 21:15

And what’s a mini?!

Itsalmostanaccessory · 03/02/2022 21:16

What is a mini? Does she think a oenis is called a worm?

I've made loads of mistakes with parenting but teaching them the real names for body parts is kind of up there with the big important things to do.

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 03/02/2022 21:16

And if you’re talking about a penis, why was it on his bum?!

mugoftea456 · 03/02/2022 21:16

I'm a bit confused.

OP do you refer to it at a worm? Or the boy said worm?

Either way please teach your child the proper terms for body parts.

SC215 · 03/02/2022 21:16

I also assumed that she was talking about thread worms.

Locomelon · 03/02/2022 21:17

Please don't call her vulva her mini 🤢
Yes they should be supervised better, but it's a good way to educate her on how boys and girls have different genitalia. I'm surprised she's got to 3 without knowing boys and girls are different.

cheekychaplin · 03/02/2022 21:17

Everyone completely missing the point.

No, the children shouldn't be alone and showing of their genitalia to each other in the bathroom. I would raise it with nursery.

5keletor · 03/02/2022 21:18

I thought he had threadworms 😂
Also showed you a mini what? This thread is a little confusing.

KindergartenKop · 03/02/2022 21:18

I wouldn't be alarmed by the boy showing off his bits. He's just a kid. But just mention it so they can supervise them better and remind the kids about private areas!

Russell19 · 03/02/2022 21:18

I am so confused 🤣

tigger1001 · 03/02/2022 21:18

@CaroleFuckingBaskin

I thought the OP was talking about threadworms Grin
That's what I thought too!
itwasntaparty · 03/02/2022 21:18

Is the pen is the worm? Or has the kid got worms? I'm confused.
