To wonder how you feel today if you voted for Boris Johnson at the last election?

It’s absolutely no surprise that Boris is behaving in this way but I cannot actually believe that we have a prime minister like this. He is utterly morally bankrupt. If you voted for him how do you feel now?

Nightlystroll · 31/01/2022 16:24

OK, thanks.

squashyhat · 31/01/2022 16:33

Are you only interested in the views of the constituents of Uxbridge and South Ruislip? Because they are the only people who could have voted either for or against him. If you mean those who voted for whichever Tory candidate stood in their constituency, that has no bearing on who is Prime Minister. HTH.

Cheeseplantboots · 31/01/2022 16:36

I never voted for Boris, I voted for my local MP.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 31/01/2022 16:37

Oof I love how picky and defensive some posters are.

It's clear what the OP means....

It’s very clear what the op means, in the minds of most people who vote they are voting for the party they would like to see in power with the full knowledge of who that will put in to number 10
Readyforthegoodlife · 31/01/2022 16:44

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea ha ha, yeah. Sounds a lot like Boris in the house just now. Don’t reply to Starmer, just attempt to pick holes in what he’s said in order to avoid the question. Birds of a feather eh?
I guess I’ll have to wait until the met have finished their investigation to get anyone to respond. Grin

Anyone who voted for a conservative candidate in the last election was effectively voting for Boris Johnson as prime minister. My local conservative back bench MP has very, very little power relative to the prime minister.

Whelmed · 31/01/2022 16:46

I think most people vote for the party and therefore their leader. You always get people claiming defense saying they voted for their local MP. I'm not allowed to vote in GE but wouldn't vote for the current local MP, he's even worse than Boris!

RussianSpy101 · 31/01/2022 16:48

I feel absolutely fine. Hopefully he won’t resign.

RussianSpy101 · 31/01/2022 16:50

I don’t know why people are being obtuse. The OP is very clear!

Readyforthegoodlife · 31/01/2022 16:51

I am genuinely interested in how an ordinary conservative voter really feels now. Not to apportion blame on them (because it really, really is not the fault of the electorate) but just actually wanting to know how it affects how voters feel about the prime minister and the party given that you gave them support before. Now how do you feel? Would you do so again? Do you want a new leader (now or later)? Is there a route out of this for Boris Johnson in your opinion?

It's not entirely picky though is it, voters can't control who leads each party.

What do you suggest they do if they have an excellent local MP who belongs to a party whose policies they agree with but a leader they don't rate? Not vote at all? Vote for someone they know isn't right for their constituency? Vote for the great MP and then lobby him to bring about a change of leader?

Imo there is only one sensible option to take whether it's Johnson or was Corbyn leading your party of choice

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 31/01/2022 16:51

I think Boris should resign but I think we would be in a different but worse mess now if we had Jeremy Corbyn as PM.

^^This. I always vote for who I want as my constituency MP
daimbarsatemydogsbone · 31/01/2022 16:53

I have never voted Tory and consider myself vanishingly unlikely to do so in future, but these threads are a bit pointless.
It's never been a secret what Boris and his chums are like.
The tiny number of Tory voters who now feel bad about it won't come and post just so they can be pelted with stuff in the virtual stocks.
The remaining majority either don't care or are deluded into believing lies like Tories are "low tax" etc.

RussianSpy101 · 31/01/2022 16:53

@Readyforthegoodlife I’ll answer your questions;
I still support the conservative party
I would still vote for them
No, I don’t want a new leader

Nanny0gg · 31/01/2022 16:54

Then surely you vote for your candidate of choice? There are others to choose from.
JayAlfredPrufrock · 31/01/2022 16:54

Ok I’ll bite.

Lifelong Tory here.

He needs to go.

Readyforthegoodlife · 31/01/2022 16:56

@marqueses not an easy answer to that one is there? That’s a balance of priorities that each individual would have to weigh up. No one could have expected this conduct from a prime minister though could they?
I am not a labour voter by the way (in case anyone thinks I am a corbyn supporter).

Yes it is. And I answered her question.

I would only not vote for my constituency MP if I absolutely couldn't bear the thought of their leader as PM.

That hasn't been an issue so far.

Dunelmer · 31/01/2022 16:57

I'll bite. I don't feel good about it.

I would think many traditional conservative voters regret what the party, or namely, the cabinet, has become.

Would Corbyn have been better? No idea. He kept difficult company and had some real clowns surrounding him.

Would I vote for Starmer (as in, a vote for my Labour MP next time) - quite possibly.

What I would do for a boring Merkel style technocrat...

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 31/01/2022 16:58

I always vote for who I want as my constituency MP
So you don't care about policies? Just who it is?

How, precisely, would we have been worse off?

It's exactly 100% what I expect from Boris hence I didn't vote for the fucker (or his party).
