To wonder how you feel today if you voted for Boris Johnson at the last election?

It’s absolutely no surprise that Boris is behaving in this way but I cannot actually believe that we have a prime minister like this. He is utterly morally bankrupt. If you voted for him how do you feel now?

OP posts:
@daimbarsatemydogsbone Does anybody really just vote based on the very limited local issues their mp might choose to get involved in? Maybe they are just saying so now because they’re embarrassed that they contributed to Johnson becoming prime minister. Just a theory.
My ex-BIL claims to vote Tory because his local MP is "very good" - he seems baffled by any questions about how he knows the Labour/Lib Dem/Green candidate couldn't do any better - but it's a moot point as a nematode worm with a blue rosette would get elected in his seat anyway.

MeanderingGently · 31/01/2022 17:24

I voted conservative at the last election, I will do so at the next one too.

I'm not feeling any different right now.....I think the media/press/TV journalists have hounded Boris, they seem to have a vendetta against him. Their reporting hasn't been balanced, and lots of world news has been ignored while they have reported "parties, parties, parties", until they have whipped up public opinion unfairly.

Boris took us through BREXIT when no-one else could, he also steered us through the pandemic...everyone was feeling their way through that, and any political party would have made some mistakes. As mistakes go, attending parties when really, he should have said "let's not do this", is not a major issue as far as I'm concerned. He could have had 200 partygoers dancing on the roof of 10 Downing Street as far as I'm concerned, it wouldn't have made any difference to the general public or the progress of COVID. As a country, we've been pretty good at getting vaccines produced and then vaccinating everyone, I'm pleased about that.

Personally I think we should all learn lessons and move on. There are bigger things to worry about, such as troops being amassed on the borders of Ukraine.....

I agree it’s uncommon to vote for local candidate first but loads thought the op wrong here and a fair few suggested they did

@rrhuth

A very high number of people prioritise PM over constituency MP, it is why 'best PM' is the key indicator, and why the anti-Corbyn messages were so damaging to Labour in 2019.

It is quaint to think most people choose on local candidate credentials.

This. Our constituency is always a toss up between Tory/LD - Labour and Greens come nowhere. So last time it was LD - she won by a whisker.

Because I’d never not vote, I did once put my X by the Monster Raving Loony bloke, since I couldn’t stand any of the others.

Goodness knows next time. Stances on the Women issue mean choices will be even more limited than usual.

JuergenSchwarzwald · 31/01/2022 17:25

People voted for Brexit, not Boris OP. This is what they got. This is what they deserve.

It's a pity for the rest of us, though. Stuck with an entitled idiot.

Fujimora · 31/01/2022 17:25

The majority of people in UK voted conservative in the last election because they had to choose between Corbyn and his Trotskyite followers and Johnson. Pretty grim choice - but public opinion was clear.

Unless the Labour Party get their act together and get rid of the Trots many people are going to carry on voting Conservative however awful they are.

I’d say it was more this for some floating voters than Brexit.

Central positions do better which makes sense as you lose the middle voters if you veer off

Dillydollydingdong · 31/01/2022 17:28

I'm bored with the whole issue of Partygate. I don't care whether Boris had parties - it depends what you call them. I call them work events and I don't understand how the addition of cake turns them into parties. Let's just get on with more important things - including the 100,000 Russian soldiers currently threatening the Ukraine.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 31/01/2022 17:29

They're Tories, they already have no shame.

ClariceQuiff · 31/01/2022 17:29

My husband voted for the twat. I just asked him - he thinks the Gray report is a fuss about nothing, and that Bozo's Brexit efforts (he voted for Brexit too Sad ) led to our good position with Covid vaccinations, which outweighs any other considerations.

My husband and I have many things in common but we are political opposites.

EngTech · 31/01/2022 17:30

Come the GE, I will vote accordingly but there are two years till then and as the old saying goes “A week is a long time in politics”

What will things be like in 2 years ? 😳

Pawsforthought12 · 31/01/2022 17:30

The saying:people deserve the leader they voted for, really fits for the Tories replying here.what a shameful bunch of people with zero integrity. And to think most of them are also parents.....

Georgeskitchen · 31/01/2022 17:30

Bloody relieved actually
Don't even want to imagine what a mess we would be in now if Corbyn and his cronies were in power!!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 31/01/2022 17:30

@CheeseCakeSunflowers

I think Boris should resign but I think we would be in a different but worse mess now if we had Jeremy Corbyn as PM.
How the fuck do you work that out? Fucking hell.

The deluded Tories with their bloody 'JC is the devil' mantra. Fuck off with it.

The person YOU voted for is the reason we are in this mess.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 31/01/2022 17:31

God I'd embarrassed for you.

I'm the same too, I can sympathise. My dad died of covid the week of the may 2020 party and he still insists that this is a witch hunt He has always voted conservative and I haven't. He cannot understand my anger about this and my immediate family are the same too. Surrounded by conservatives.

The majority of people who bothered to vote didn't vote Conservative.
MajorCarolDanvers · 31/01/2022 17:33

I feel fine.

In a choice between Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnston I would vote Tory every day of the week.

ClariceQuiff · 31/01/2022 17:33

@the80sweregreat Depressing, isn't it? I've given up arguing with him. Sorry about your dad Flowers.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 31/01/2022 17:34

Hilarious people thinking Boris is the victim.
He is entirely the architect of his own misfortune by virtue of being a pathological liar with no common decency.

CounsellorTroi · 31/01/2022 17:36

@Berengaria1

I voted for my constituency MP because I think he did a good job. I didn't have the opportunity to vote for leader as I'm not a member of the Tory party.
So when you vote you’re not looking at the bigger picture at all?
ZittiEBuoni · 31/01/2022 17:36

I feel we need an 'at least he isn't Jeremy Corbyn' meme similar to all the 'but her emails' memes during the Trump debacle.

Thank you , he was elderly with dementia but it still hurts. He did die from covid.
My family are older than me, boomers , and just happy with conservative values
They think this is over blown nonsense to get him out.

You honestly shouldn't be allowed to vote if you wouldn't change your mind after this. Despicable
Lostinafield · 31/01/2022 17:39

I've never voted Conservative and never will, but knowledge that they had parties would have no effect on my vote.
