OK hope I can explain this without outing myself.

I work part time and have my lunch at 11.30, the full timers all go for lunch at 1.30. Yesterday an urgent project came up that had to be finished by 3pm.
I had already had my lunch as it hadn't come through by then. Some of the full timers decided to take their lunches after 3pm to complete the project.
One of my colleagues kept complaining about how hungry she was I replied - Im feeling hungry now too, I can't moan though Ive had lunch and I'm finishing soon.
She reported me to my manager for rubbing it in the full timers faces that I was finishing and had my lunch 🤣

Total over-reaction to report you but your response was a bit smug!

Exactly! Obviously I wasn't there but it's easy to imagine that there are a few different "tones" that the comment could have been said in.
MumofHorace · 29/01/2022 13:47

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

Next time you're in, bring an elaborate multi-course lunch with silverware, wine glass etc. Linen tablecloth, mini vase of flowers, tealights. Lay it all out at your desk.
This!

And remember to shake your napkin out with a snap before laying it on your lap.

In fact give me enough notice and I’ll turn up and play waiter and serenade you with my guitar.

🤣

MrsWhites · 29/01/2022 13:47

@DoNotGetADog

It’s unreasonable to report you, but surely you must realise that if someone’s not had any lunch at all by 3pm as they are working and you have had yours, then saying “I’m hungry too” is not the done thing.
Where does this stop? If someone is tired can you not comment ‘me too’ just because you got an extra hours sleep. If someone earns less than you can you not comment on buying yourself something new. If someone has a bad back can you not comment that you are sore after the gym?
MananaTomorrow · 29/01/2022 13:48

I’ve worked through projects like this. You might not have a lunch break but you can still have your sandwich at your desk rather than just staying hungry .
Even more so because your productivity will drop if you dint eat.

As far as I’m concerned, they WBU to have something to eat whilst carrying on with the work.

As for the ‘rubbing it in’….? Really?

lljkk · 29/01/2022 13:48

It sounds like OP was being self-deprecating at her own greed? May be it's in the tone...

tigger1001 · 29/01/2022 13:49

Yeah totally not worthy of a report. She just made herself look a bit daft, unless a backstory of other comments made etc.

It was a bit smug though and would have made me roll my eyes at you. Saying you are hungry too when you've had your lunch to others who have worked through theirs is just a bit twattish.

crowsfeet57 · 29/01/2022 13:49

What a petty person! I'd send her this link so she can see what a really bad colleague is like! www.socialtalent.com/blog/recruitment/meet-the-worlds-most-annoying-and-funniest-work-colleague

cobblers123 · 29/01/2022 13:53

When I read stuff like this, I'm so glad I'm no longer working. Ridiculous complaint.

Riverlee · 29/01/2022 13:56

Err, what was there to complain about? Silly complaint.

ReadySteadyTwins · 29/01/2022 13:56

@Idontgiveagriffindamn

I wouldn’t have reported you but it is a bit of a dick comment from you.
Yup.

She's stressed, hasn't been able to eat yet, and you think pointing out "I've already eaten of course, but I could eat again now, but that's fine because I finish soon" was a decent response? Completely agree with PP that you sound like a dick.

Not worthy of reporting in isolation. Is this the last straw from this colleague and she's finally snapped at you. Have you made "comments" before?

Rosscameasdoody · 29/01/2022 13:58

This is playground stuff and I wouldn’t have thought it would contribute to high regard from her manager. Sounds like a toxic environment, or have we now got to a point where we have to self censor every word we say ?

LyricalBlowToTheJaw · 29/01/2022 14:00

I'd start being genuinely offensive around her.

TopTabby · 29/01/2022 14:03

Guarantee that 90% of posters saying the full time worker was pathetic would be absolutely raging if they hadn't had their lunch.
Daft to report you though.

HollowTalk · 29/01/2022 14:04

@RoomOfRequirement

I wouldn't have reported you but I see where she was coming from.
Really?!
Kshhuxnxk · 29/01/2022 14:05

That's the moat pathetic thing I've ever heard!

My manager is pretty strict but I can imagine him pissing himself if someone made a complaint like that. Can you really be reported for rubbing someone's face in it.
She sounds utterly pathetic. Are you sure she's old enough to be working? She sounds like a toddler.

Suzanne999 · 29/01/2022 14:13

Bloody hell some people are fragile. I’d have laughed at someone “reporting “ you for having stated you’d eaten lunch. Pathetic.

Suzanne999 · 29/01/2022 14:14

And now I know why I became self employed.

affairsofdragons · 29/01/2022 14:18

Do you work with 7 year olds?

blyn72 · 29/01/2022 14:20

@Toasterandjam

Can't believe how petty your colleague is. Manager will surely think she's a bit of an idiot.
Yes.
tigger1001 · 29/01/2022 14:21

@LyricalBlowToTheJaw

I'd start being genuinely offensive around her.
Why? So you would get sacked?

I disagree with the reporting but using that as an excuse to bully someone (and that is exactly what they would be doing if they were being deliver offensive) is just beyond immature and wrong and would land the op in real hot water at work

AgentJohnson · 29/01/2022 14:23

She’s an idiot for reporting you but you were rubbing her face in it, why, God only knows. Your manager needs to employ grown ups.

PinkSyCo · 29/01/2022 14:24

YABU for reminding me that I haven’t had lunch and making me suddenly feel hungry.
