Everyone should continue to call him Prince Andrew

I’ve seen a few people, and TV programmes and things, saying he’s just Andrew now.

He’s not, though, is he? He’s still a prince, that can’t be taken from him, like his other titles. He should continue to be called Prince Andrew.

“But he doesn’t deserve to be a prince”, people say. Well, no-one does, that’s the whole deal with a monarchy. You don’t get to pick and choose, there’s no merit, it’s entirely about whose cock and balls were involved.

Royals have done appalling things for centuries, it’s their divine right. If you don’t like it, stop supporting it.

He should always be referred to by Prince, and also all his other titles. He’s doing an excellent job of devaluing them, and I’m all for that.

FireMeetGasoline · 24/01/2022 01:03

Edward VIII was our King @TheLeadbetterLife. He abdicated and was no longer known as our King. By your logic, if Andrew is still a Prince, was Edward still a King, and if so, who the fuck are these imposters now?

Blossomtoes · 24/01/2022 01:03

@Livelovebehappy

He’s not a paedophile. She was 17, so not a child. But, I would say he exploited her sexually due to how young she was, so he had behaved inappropriately. I don’t like him, but it’s important to stick to the facts.
This. At the worst he had sex with a trafficked woman. Awful, exploitative, entitled and illegal if he’s found guilty. It’s bad enough as it is without embroidering it.
FireMeetGasoline · 24/01/2022 01:12

@Blossomtoes do you mean embellishing? Or can we say embroidering to mean the same?

mynamesnotMa · 24/01/2022 01:13

She was underage forced to have sex with those sweaty bastards she was raped. Don't make excuses. No better than being drugged and raped in an alley.

Disgusting dirty creep. I'll continue to refer to randy Andy as a dirty old bastard.

Good for her I hope she sees it through to the end.

Maverick101 · 24/01/2022 01:22

Charles the first believed in the divine right of kings.

It did not end well for him.

If it's Prince Andrew by birth right then Prince Andrew, it is in my book.

MissBattleaxe · 24/01/2022 01:57

His name is Noncey Drew.

FrankGrillosWrist · 24/01/2022 02:20

Nonce Andrew suits.

Topseyt · 24/01/2022 03:19

Twatlord Andrew or Arsehole Andrew for me.

I am not anti royalist but he is a national disgrace.

wtaf37 · 24/01/2022 06:47

@TheLeadbetterLife

Are people actually reading my OP?

It’s irrelevant whether anyone thinks he deserves it, he gets it anyway. Yes, that’s absolutely crazy. But the solution is not to pretend we get a choice in the matter.

Are you just being deliberately goady? If you knew your historey, you would understand how a royal family works, and since the abolution of absolute monarchy, their function in society. Yes, if guilty (and there has been no trial/verdict, so in law, he is innocent) he is a shit person, but the monarcy, and indeed those ridiculous people who are adored by millions for merely posing and being vacuous, represent society; so shitty, brainless people exist across all strata
Haveyoubrushedyourteethtoday · 24/01/2022 06:48

I call the queen ‘Liz’ though?

Haveyoubrushedyourteethtoday · 24/01/2022 06:50

Actually I’m old enough to remember when he was called ‘Randy Andy’.

VelvetChairGirl · 24/01/2022 06:54

I will call what I call all of them sponge, medieval throwback, etc

Made my day! Grin Grin Grin
Plantagenous · 24/01/2022 06:57

He's already called Prince Noncedrew in this house.

Daenerys77 · 24/01/2022 07:27

@Paul72

I hope that he will be called prisoner number ??? as if he abused young girls his money and title should not stop him going to prison for a very long time. If he gets a long sentance it will send a message to all other rich men that they can't get away with abusing people,
The current proceedings against him are civil, not criminal, so the worst that could happen to him is that he would have to pay a large sum in damages.
MindyStClaire · 24/01/2022 08:41

I agree OP.

He's still Prince Andrew, he's still Duke of York, the poor sods paid a pittance to wait on him hand and foot will still have to use the HRH he still has behind closed doors.

If his big brother had been killed before his children were born, he'd still be the next King.

But, he doesn't get to play dress up at Trooping the Colour or cut ribbons at golf courses. My heart bleeds.

The whole concept of monarchy is fucked up, don't let recent announcements distract you from that.

It’s not my logic, it’s the rules of this bonkers system. Edward VIII was still a prince after abdication.

It’s very interesting how successful the royal brand has been at convincing the subjects that it’s meritocratic on some level.

It’s also clever how they’ve managed to conflate the fairy tale idea of a prince with the real thing, who doesn’t have to be charming at all. A prince just is.

The queen has defended and protected this particular prince well beyond the bounds of reason and decency, for decades. Now people are apparently willing to give this insane institution another free pass by indulging in the delusion that a prince can somehow not be a prince if he’s naughty enough.

OP posts:
Blossomtoes · 24/01/2022 08:55

I don’t think anyone thinks the monarchy is meritocratic - or not at least if they understand the meaning of the word. The vast majority of people don’t really care about them, they just provide a bit of spectacle on big occasions.

I’m not convinced the Queen has defended or protected him for decades either. She was probably in blissful ignorance until the last two or three years, just like the rest of us.

How about The Andrew formerly known as Prince?
🤣 love this.

I have plenty of names for him and none of them involve the word 'prince'.

He is meant to be someone who is a role model to society. If he stops being one, then his job and title should be taken from him. This is not some office party shenanigans, this is child abuse and and knowing about sex trafficking and turning a blind eye to it. I don't know how anyone could say otherwise.

I think he has been lucky with the press turning on the govt at the moment (possibly to divert from other elites in the media who are involved too). I hope it doesn't distract too many people from this. I think it will have the opposite effect though - people will just see everyone with this level privilege as sleazy, crooked and self-serving instead.
