Everyone should continue to call him Prince Andrew

I’ve seen a few people, and TV programmes and things, saying he’s just Andrew now.

He’s not, though, is he? He’s still a prince, that can’t be taken from him, like his other titles. He should continue to be called Prince Andrew.

“But he doesn’t deserve to be a prince”, people say. Well, no-one does, that’s the whole deal with a monarchy. You don’t get to pick and choose, there’s no merit, it’s entirely about whose cock and balls were involved.

Royals have done appalling things for centuries, it’s their divine right. If you don’t like it, stop supporting it.

@TheLeadbetterLife

Are people actually reading my OP?

It’s irrelevant whether anyone thinks he deserves it, he gets it anyway. Yes, that’s absolutely crazy. But the solution is not to pretend we get a choice in the matter.

I don’t understand why you’re getting so worked up about titles or how someone is referred to. If someone referred to him as a ‘prince’ or ‘duke’ they would be correct, and if they also referred to him as a ‘paedophile’ they would also be correct. What is your point exactly?
HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 23/01/2022 22:20

I prefer Pervy Prince and the stuffed bears.

But yes OP i agree.

LaurieFairyCake · 23/01/2022 22:20

I've only ever called him 'that cunt, Prince Andrew'

I've never heard a good word ever said about him Confused

Bakewelltart987 · 23/01/2022 22:20

But there all just title's that mean nothing. So saying he was born a Prince is just saying he was born with a title so yes that title can be taking away.

I have no time for any off the royals tbh and wouldn't give a hoot if they all lost there title's.

TheKeatingFive · 23/01/2022 22:21

Divine right as a concept ceased to exist hundreds of years ago.

By what right do they rule in that case?

Littlecaf · 23/01/2022 22:21

I like the “ Andrew formally known as Prince”!

You asked for it OP! From now on…..

Wolfiefan · 23/01/2022 22:22

If there was any justice he would be prisoner number …

StillWeRise · 23/01/2022 22:23

But we do get a choice Confused

You can call him whatever you want. You're not going to get arrested for treason.

I'm calling him Noncey Andy.

Elphame · 23/01/2022 22:26

Happylittlethoughts · 23/01/2022 22:26

"SerialNo

How about The Andrew formerly known as Prince?"

Take a bow 🤣🤣🤣🤣absolutely snorted

OverByYer · 23/01/2022 22:27

Is that you Sarah? How are the girls?

LadyMaid · 23/01/2022 22:27

Randy Andy

Hotcuppatea · 23/01/2022 22:28

Why do you care so much?

TheLeadbetterLife · 23/01/2022 22:28

You get a choice whether to call him Prince, you don’t get a choice over whether he is one or not. So all the feather-fluffing, “he’s no prince!” stuff is just hot air. Literally no-one deserves to be a prince, they just are.

TheMarzipanDildo · 23/01/2022 22:29

You can’t control what other people call you though.

I don’t support the monarchy anyway but no one asked me Sad

they don't rule we have a constitutional monarchy- things have moved on since the Tudors and Stuarts
Luredbyapomegranate · 23/01/2022 22:30

It’s just a title, people can use it or not, Diana, William etc, called by their first names all the time.

I imagine his title being dropped in practice is what the RF want mind you - they are survivors that lot, and they know that if we all forget about him before the Q falls off her perch, they’ll be alright.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 23/01/2022 22:30

I understand what you’re saying. I would prefer not to call him Prince but I would prefer not to refer to any of the monarchs by their royal titles because I think they should be abolished. However I agree anybody happy to have a queen, future king and other monarchs there simply by birthright should accept it is Prince Andrew’s birthright just as much as Charles or Edward’s. The title wasn’t given because he was liked or a good man and so by those rules it can’t really be taken away now he is disliked for being a bad man.

Branleuse · 23/01/2022 22:30

I couldnt give a shit about his royal titles. Theyre all meaningless, but at least if you say prince andrew, you know who it is, rather than Andrew lloyd webber

Why does it matter so much? Prince doesn't mean they are somehow superior beings.
AffIt · 23/01/2022 22:30

Absolutely, OP: this is also why I make my 'Mark Steel gnhhhh' face when you hear people say that Charles should just let William take over, blah blah.

It's not a fucking corporate set-up where you get to weed out the shirkers: you either have a hierarchical monarchy, or you do not. You don't get to choose, because you have already, by definition, accepted the status quo.

(I'm a republican and while I've grown out of my 'up against a wall' phase, I'd happily be done with all of them tomorrow.)

I'll settle for 'the prince formerly known as Andrew' for now, though.
