Everyone should continue to call him Prince Andrew

TheLeadbetterLife · 23/01/2022 22:04

I’ve seen a few people, and TV programmes and things, saying he’s just Andrew now.

He’s not, though, is he? He’s still a prince, that can’t be taken from him, like his other titles. He should continue to be called Prince Andrew.

“But he doesn’t deserve to be a prince”, people say. Well, no-one does, that’s the whole deal with a monarchy. You don’t get to pick and choose, there’s no merit, it’s entirely about whose cock and balls were involved.

Royals have done appalling things for centuries, it’s their divine right. If you don’t like it, stop supporting it.

I completely agree with you OP. It’s not as if the rest of the RF earned their titles. He’s a prince by birth and will die, a prince when his time comes.?

NumberTheory · 23/01/2022 23:29

I didn’t call him Prince Andrew before, why would I start now? He only gets the title because people go along with it. If you don’t call him Prince you don’t turn into a toadstool.

We don’t have to “be all French” to get rid of our monarchy. If enough people just treated them like ordinary people they would soon lose all the trappings that the state currently provides.

Seemssounfair · 23/01/2022 23:31

I agree, he should continue to be called Prince Andrew so everyone is clearly reminded of exactly who he is and how he was given protection as he abused that position.

AutomaticMoon · 23/01/2022 23:31

@Jagley No, they do have something called Divine Right to Rule which means they’re looking after is until such time as Jesus returns. At least that’s what I read on wikipedia, years ago.

Meatshake · 23/01/2022 23:33

I think "his royal Nonceness, Ponce Andrew" works 🤷

ThinWomansBrain · 23/01/2022 23:34

twat faced paedophile?

given that he seems to be sharing the same fridge as Johnson, not likely to bump into him anyway, although worth giving pizza express in Woking or wherever a sweve.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 23/01/2022 23:43

I’m really uncomfortable that we’ve moved to trial by media and popular vote rather than actual due process. His interview didn’t paint him in a good light and I’ve no doubt he’s an entitled twat but then I’m basing that on what the media is feeding me.

I’ve been involved through my work in media stories that have been portrayed in a way that was far from the truth but our hands were tied in correcting those facts due to patient confidentiality. So I’ve seen first hand the media twisting things. They’ve decided to portray him as a baddy. Years ago the news of the world editor was banned from running a story on Prince Andrew. It wasn’t negative but hugely personal. This all feels like the media getting their own back for not being able to run that story.

Did he do it? I don’t know, I wasn’t there. I just want to ask if perhaps the media, or someone else in power, is manipulating things through the media for a reason we normal people wouldn’t understand… things are rarely black and white.

TheOriginalEmu · 23/01/2022 23:44

I don’t call him anything, I would rather forget the odious creep and his sponging family disappeared altogether.

JugglingJanuary · 23/01/2022 23:46

@AliveAndSleeping

I would like to think that even if they did find them attractive most men would not have sex with someone underage

17 isn't underage?

I don't understand why people keep referring to him as a nonce or paedophile? None of the girls/children (was there more than one??) we're pre-pubescent were they?

annatwink · 23/01/2022 23:52

Problem is there's a million Andrews. People will, merely to identify him.

Livelovebehappy · 23/01/2022 23:57

He’s not a paedophile. She was 17, so not a child. But, I would say he exploited her sexually due to how young she was, so he had behaved inappropriately. I don’t like him, but it’s important to stick to the facts.

Daisylookslost · 24/01/2022 00:00

Agree with Livelove - she was trafficked though and underaged by American standards?

@HopeYourHighHorseBucks the Teddy bears! Grin

GiftWrappingLikeItsXmasEve · 24/01/2022 00:01

I agree OP

concernedalot · 24/01/2022 00:02

He's vile, I wouldn't call him a prince whatever the monarchy want to call him. With his aging vile jowly lies shown in that interview and the stuff which has come out since I can only imagine a disgusting middle aged man who would likely send dick pics if he ever had the balls to internet date but that won't happen as fergie still loves him even though he's well known as a total sex pest. He makes my skin crawl. He should just be called Andrew, failed son of the queen IMO

DillDanding · 24/01/2022 00:06

I would probably only refer to him as Prince Andrew for identification purposes.

Using the title applies to all of them – only for the purpose of identification. I am massively anti-Royal.

Do you think the Queen is any more deserving of her title?

Yup. Either he’s a Prince and she’s the Queen, or they’re just Andrew and Elizabeth.

In the spirit of compromise I’m also okay with The Nonce and The Nonce Mother.

TheSpottedZebra · 24/01/2022 00:10

He DOES have 'styles' that could be removed -namely Knight Garter and Whatever he is of the Royal Victorian Order. But they've not done this. And they probably won't. He'll just not appear in his ostrich feathers and velvet gown and we'll all pretend he's been ostracised and we have a full democracy.

How about The Andrew formerly known as Prince?

This is fantastic 🤣. There will only be one Prince imo iyswim.

He isn't a Prince no, OP. Not by any means, and I hope he is prosecuted and serves time for his actions. That's the real justice for the people he has abused.

What do you think a prince is?

He is one, whether he serves time or not.

Fergie, I didn't realise you were on mumsnet too!

Shall we call him the prince of pervs? Or pizza?

Caddycat · 24/01/2022 00:38

It seems very few people have understood you OP. You are totally right, I feel removing the title when talking about him is just a way to exonerate the royal family from the shame of this alleged crime. If it hadn't been for being a royal, I doubt he would have been within the circles allowing him to commit the crimes he is accused of. It's important that this is acknowledged.

Pallisers · 24/01/2022 00:42
@Pallisers

The OP’s point is that the monarchy has no place in modern society, and they shouldn’t get to protect their brand by removing titles that were never earned on merit anyway.

The monarchy should be warts and all, because then maybe we as a country might be more inclined to grow up and scrap the whole thing.
Ah, got it. I think the OP is overly optimistic about what people won't stomach but it's a noble effort.

Of all of the royal ridiculousness I think the "ex" royals are the funniest. Imagine going through life as Ex King Constantine of Greece.

TheSpottedZebra · 24/01/2022 00:46

^ His children and grandchildren still use Prince and Princess. No ex- for them!

FireMeetGasoline · 24/01/2022 00:48

@TheLeadbetterLife

Well, apart from Cinderella and Snow White meeting their Prince Charmings, I haven't a clue what a Prince is. In this case though, it's a title which I hope is stripped of him immediately! I hope he goes to prison and I hope he is sentenced for a very long time. No one whose title is Prince, Dr, Mr, Mrs, Ms has the right to abuse another person. I'm quite happy to sit here and see the demise of him though 😁
