Everyone should continue to call him Prince Andrew

I’ve seen a few people, and TV programmes and things, saying he’s just Andrew now.

He’s not, though, is he? He’s still a prince, that can’t be taken from him, like his other titles. He should continue to be called Prince Andrew.

“But he doesn’t deserve to be a prince”, people say. Well, no-one does, that’s the whole deal with a monarchy. You don’t get to pick and choose, there’s no merit, it’s entirely about whose cock and balls were involved.

Royals have done appalling things for centuries, it’s their divine right. If you don’t like it, stop supporting it.

He's always been known as 'that pompous prat' in this house, because that's what he's always been. He's the male equivalent of his aunty

phishy · 23/01/2022 22:53

@SerialNo

How about The Andrew formerly known as Prince?
This one has done the rounds on all the Andrew threads.

My sincere apologies for not following them.

HappyDays40 · 23/01/2022 22:55

I'll just call him sex offender or rapist.....either will do.

ButterfliesandMoths · 23/01/2022 22:56

@stinkycheeseman

Can I just call him 'that cunt, Prince Andrew?'
This gets my vote 🤣
TheLeadbetterLife · 23/01/2022 22:58

I think the Queen is popular because she’s wise enough to keep her trap shut, and people project anything they like onto her silent demeanour. I find it hard to believe that the head (and by all accounts she’s very much in charge) of such a fucked up, toxic family can be as blameless as many think.

Fergie must be livid. That is, Mrs York to you.

Atypicaldancer · 23/01/2022 22:59

The point of the OP is clear, I thought! It’s not supporting PA - it’s anti monarchy.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 23/01/2022 22:59

This is perfect

@TheLeadbetterLife

You get a choice whether to call him Prince, you don’t get a choice over whether he is one or not. So all the feather-fluffing, “he’s no prince!” stuff is just hot air. Literally no-one deserves to be a prince, they just are.
so you've answered your own OP:

You: Everyone Should Continue to call him Prince Andrew
you: You get a choice whether to call him Prince.

What exactly was the point of this?

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 23/01/2022 23:04

100% get your point and agree OP.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/01/2022 23:05

I don't want to support the royal family. Unfortunately I don't appear to have much of a choice!

Me too. People can be given any titles that confer/suggest respect, but I don't personally have to go along with it when I refer to them. I refuse to even use Blair's first name, if I talk about him, as imho, that conveys a friendly acceptance that he doesn't deserve; so I will never now refer to him as 'Sir'.

I realise that he wouldn't care less and that my refusing to call him his full honorary title in no way means that it isn't his title; but I personally choose not to even subconsciously acknowledge it and to maintain a distance.

I realise that 'Prince' isn't a title that means anything more than that you are the son of the king and/or queen, but to me, it conveys more honour and dignity than I deem him worthy of, so it's not for me, thanks.

TheLeadbetterLife · 23/01/2022 23:07

My point is, everyone should call him Prince Andrew, it’s right there in the thread title.

He is a prince, always has been, always will be. If he pulled a Kind Hearts and Coronets he could be King.

King Cunt sounds appropriately medieval.

SerialNo · 23/01/2022 23:08

@Pallisers

The OP’s point is that the monarchy has no place in modern society, and they shouldn’t get to protect their brand by removing titles that were never earned on merit anyway.

The monarchy should be warts and all, because then maybe we as a country might be more inclined to grow up and scrap the whole thing.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
AmandaMirandaPanda · 23/01/2022 23:11

Apparently Andrew's Duke and Prince titles COULD be removed by an Act of Parliament, with precedent in the Titles Deprivation Act 1917 which was designed to strip the titles of selected Princes and Peers who were citizens of enemy countries. Unfortunately it specifies that it only refers to "enemies in the present war". Otherwise Sajid Javid could decide that Andrew is Bangladeshi, and Parliament could declare war.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/01/2022 23:11

I wonder if King Cnut was viewed rather more harshly during his lifetime than we all realise and left his lackeys strict instructions to adjust the spelling of his nickname slightly after his death and then give it a few hundred years for the history books to catch up Grin

NotebookAddict · 23/01/2022 23:13

As I understand it, the case has not reached court yet, so he is (currently) innocent. Also, many 40 year old men would find a 17 year old girl sexually attractive without being paedophiles.

GrinGrin brilliant!!

Op yanbu. I don't care what people call him but yes, being royal has never meant that you were a good person, on the contrary.

I would like to think that even if they did find them attractive most men would not have sex with someone underage.
WizardHowl · 23/01/2022 23:20

I think I get you, OP. You’re not saying ‘he’ll always be a Prince to meeeee’, you’re pointing out the meaningless semantics of what title he is or isn’t known by publicly, when his inviolable birthright status is prince, thanks to monarchy being hereditary rather than a meritocracy.

AliveAndSleeping · 23/01/2022 23:20

@TheLeadbetterLife

His HRH has been removed, not his status as prince, which is not the same thing. He is a prince because he’s the son of the queen, and that can’t be changed unless the British start getting all French.

As a pp said, the royal family would probably love everyone to stop calling him prince Andrew, as it gives an illusion that we plebs have any agency over the situation, and that on some level there’s a degree of merit involved in being a royal. There isn’t though, any cunt can be a royal, as long as they came out of the right cunt.

This.
