The reverse intelligence test is bang on the money. Nobody in their right mind would want to follow him into No 10, even if it hadn’t got garish gold wallpaper.
It'll be Liz Truss then. Women often get their chance at leadership when its an impossible task (glass cliff phenomenon)
Tbh I think that's what happened to Theresa May. She would have done much better at the pandemic than Johnson

BashStreetKid · 24/01/2022 18:12

@Florianus

According to the Institute for Government, the average length of public inquiries in recent times is 2 years, although one took 13 years to report back.
The clue's in the word "average"
the80sweregreat · 24/01/2022 18:18

Liz looked at home in Brussels today !

To be fair, my potted geranium could have done a better job, and I managed to neglect it so much it died several years ago.

Sue Gray must be wondering when she'll be able to finalise this report.

Lemme guess, he thought all these people drinking, eating birthday cake and saying "Happy Birthday" to him were working.

the80sweregreat · 24/01/2022 18:34

I love this comment on Twitter
' did someone have to tell him it was his birthday' ? .

the80sweregreat · 24/01/2022 18:37

Of course the trolls will write
.. ' people are entitled to a birthday bash whilst at work during a pandemic ' ( then something about Keir's beer )

I really don't know why all those choirs who stopped for lockdown did so.
They could have just made sure that they had a bottle of work or a cake each and then carried on as normal.

On a serious note. What kind of 56 year old needs his staff to sing happy birthday to them.

ClaudineClare · 24/01/2022 18:53

No.10 say he stayed less than 10 minutes at his birthday party.

Well, he still spent more time spent celebrating his birthday than all the people who did the right thing and didn't hold or attend a birthday party, even though they knew it was their or their loved one's last.

I am typing in anger and meant to say:

I wish MN had an edit button!

What kind of adult actually wants to celebrate being 50 something during a pandemic when you have stood in front of a lectern only that week or whenever and told everyone else you can't do any of this at all? Stay apart , do not mix , can't do this can't do that , can't have a party etc?
He broke the rules and then wanted them to sing him happy bloody birthday ? Beggars belief.

the80sweregreat · 24/01/2022 18:58

He was keen on 'only' staying 10 minutes or 25 minutes at these arranged dos wasn't he!?
Seems such a waste .. not that I believe this one iota. Does anyone ??
Honestly ?

jgw1 To be fair, my potted geranium could have done a better job, and I managed to neglect it so much it died several years ago. My dead cat has had some support on previous threads, there were promises made for votes for Ginger so I think your geranium won't have a walkover.

I'll ask the binmen on Thursday if they know where it is and then they could perhaps team up.
CeleriacOfTheNight · 24/01/2022 19:08

To think we went from Theresa May and her Field of Wheat to this shower of shite in just a few short years.

I am not a Conservative fan..but at various times during the pandemic I have longed for detail orientated Theresa May.

It's the fact that the wallpaperer / intererier decorater was also there. Was she a friend of Carrie's? The whole thing seems bizarre.

If they can't find it, maybe the binmen could form a cabinet with ancientgran's dead cat at the helm. Although I worry that Fabricant's wig might try to shag the dead cat.

He has surely got to go now, as he has lied to Parliament?

Johnson's defenders have gone very quiet on this thread. Perhaps busy preparing their lines to take?

The binmen are certainly not workshy, which would be an improvement.

I do have a ghastly image in my head though, thanks for that.

SueSaid · 24/01/2022 19:26

Oh so what. As someone on twitter said "So, when people in an office buy a cake in the middle of the afternoon for someone else they are working in the office with and stop for ten minutes to sing happy birthday and then go back to their desks, this is now called a party?"

Honestly that Paul Brand and his half arsed 'scoops' 🙄

22itsallnew · 24/01/2022 19:26

No.10 say he stayed less than 10 minutes at his birthday party

That's 10mins more than my primary aged DC was allowed into school between March and Sept 2020.

Of course the wallpaper woman was working dontcha know!

@Hawkins001 Although does anyone consider that it could be Boris being setup with regards to certain events?

By Carrie it would seem on this occasion.

Flowertailbird · 24/01/2022 19:27

Looking forward to all the posters who come on here to defend this shit trying to do this now....
